The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly and the atmosphere is awesome. The interior dining area is limited, so call ahead for a spot! But once there you can look at the historic local photographs on the walls, appreciate the ornate metal ceiling, and watch the chef prepare the amazing crepes via a well positioned mirror over the cooking surface. The crepes, whether savory or dessert, never disappoint. There are many wonderful fresh ground coffees to choose from, their aroma greet you as you come in the front door. But my favorite experience at Landmark is to dine outside on the beautiful, secluded patio. We usually go for a crepe, but this time I had the Wagyu beef meatloaf sandwich. Juicy and delicious! And I never stop in without getting the spinach bisque (you can get a cup, but I always get a bowl). It is so rich and creamy and exactly as I remember it from, well, back in the day. Highly recommend!

The are known for their savory quiche and crepes as well as their delicious ice cream filled dessert crepes, ordering the Spinach Bisque is a MUST! While a cup may be fine for some, I always insist on a bowl of the creamy, buttery bisque. Recently for lunch, I chose their Wagyu Meatloaf Sandwich, paired with spicy ketchup, provolone and crispy onion strings on a grilled artisan white bun. The side of Mayo aoli is a great topping too! Sitting inside and watching the chefs prepare the crepes is a delight, but a beautiful afternoon calls for a relaxing meal on their ivy lined patio! It is so cute and gives such great small town peaceful vibes. Highly recommend; but you may need to call ahead for reservations.

We unknowingly arrived 30 minutes before close, but the staff was super nice and welcomed us in with no rush. It was still pretty full inside and made for a nice, chatty place to go with family or friends. The menu definitely had something for everyone- all of the options looked great, so it was really hard to choose what to order! We started with coffee before ordering the garden frittata and the biscuits and gravy. The coffee was actually very good- they had a seasonal hazelnut flavor that I really enjoyed. I was expecting the frittata to be fluffy like a quiche, but it was more like a circular shaped veggie scramble. It was pretty standard, but definitely hit the spot. The sourdough bread served alongside was outstanding, however. It tasted super fresh and very homemade. The biscuits and gravy were very flavorful and not too greasy. Given the portions and quality, the price is very reasonable. Would definitely return and recommend making a visit!

In fifty-five years of flying, I have smelled enough jet fuel, 100 LL, and burnt coffee. Enough to see too many things change, but not on this day and this trip. Indeed, I'd dined at the Packinghouse back in 1986. They've been open since 1978, and I recognized it immediately. Then, as now, the place looks the same and the food was remarkable. My co-star and I sampled the inviting salad bar, and he opted for the broiled steak covered in mushrooms. I had the shrimp scampi, which was spectacular and enough for two normal people. Our only disappointment was that the highly touted bread pudding had been exhausted. Hence, we settled our stomachs on the chocolate lava conflagration that helped put things into perspective. The ambiance was an interesting mix of nostalgia and packing plant apparatus. Being a vegetarian, I wasn't offended by what happened there since 1912. The still-active railroad station is just across the street, which made sense for the building's original purpose. Our server was a local historian who enhanced our visit with her perspectives. Yes, the HOJO where I stayed in 1986 is long gone, but the Packinghouse is still doing what it does best. I must also mention that downtown Galesburg is an inviting anachronism reflecting the old America that I grew up with. There are interesting stores and other attractions. Galesburg is also home to Knox College, and was the venue for one of the Lincoln-Douglas debates back when debates were really debates and not Kabuki Dances.

Breakfast at any time! A true diner format. A greasy spoon breakfast /lunch place serving cassic diner cuisine primarily to local clientele. Plenty of banter between customers, wait staff and the cook. All in good fun. The building is small...about a dozen or so stools at the counter. Every seat has an unobstructed view of center stage... the cook working the flat top griddle! Plenty of action here flippin' eggs, turning bacon, steaming hashbrowns, bubbling pancakes and searing ham steaks. You have to peel your eyes away from this to view the only available menu displayed prominently on the wall over the flat top vent. Your order takes a bit to get. You wait your turn. No hurry here. Portions are served steaming hot and verrry generous indeed. I ordered a half order of hash browns that filled half the plate! They have limited hours so get there early. If not, it all starts again tomorrow. read more
