They use fresh, local, and Whole Foods. The beef stew and baked oatmeal are newer additions to the menu and were so popular they sold out so I had to order a Greek salad instead. I always love eating lunch here when in Fairfield. The place isn't fancy but the food is good and the service is always great. They have something for every dietary restriction, so if you are with a group that has special needs for organic, gluten free, etc., this is the place to go. read more

Disclaimer: I don't shop at organic or whole foods stores that often so I was a little out of place. As I walked into the grocery store I had a hard time locating the café with limited sign usage (it's in the back). The place was neat and provided a good amount of seating. Figured I would order the breakfast burrito and it would come with meat, but that was my mistake as I did not read the menu very closely. I will take the blame for ordering a vegan burrito. For my drink I had the strawberry lemonade with honey and it was superb, one of the best fresh squeezed lemonades I've ever tasted. The burrito was served with a pepper cheese sauce that I ended up pouring over the whole burrito to supplement the dry shell encasing the fixings. There was avocado, sweet potato, eggs and peppers in the burrito from what I recall which all tasted fine but the dry, flavor-lacking shell was bothering me as I took bite after bite. This breakfast slowly became hard to eat and I had to waive the white flag in surrender. Needless to say, I got a to-go box and brought it home to give it a shot tomorrow morning. Moral of the review and life lesson: it's good to step out of your comfort zone but there will be times when you are displeased with the results. This was not my type of restaurant but it was a change of pace that's good to have every once in a while. This could easily be a five star café for vegans but in my case I'm honest from the perspective of someone that loves meat. read more

One of my favorite things about driving through Iowa (besides the pretty countryside) is stopping here for lunch on our way to Des Moines. The food is so good with lots of gluten free options. Coffee is really good. Waffles are huge! The staff is very friendly and quick. Even the other customers are friendly and considerate. I always leave thinking Fairfield must be a really nice place to live. The adjoining grocery store is really nice too. Similar to a Fresh Thyme or Lucky's for those of you in bigger cities. read more

Great coffee and fast and friendly service! I just saw the starter menu today for the first time and it looks interesting. I'll have to try one of the brunch style items next time I go and report back. This business is just getting started and I'm looking forward to the expanded menu and grand opening. Meanwhile.......... Credit cards are accepted and there is ample parking in the grocery store lot and there's three bike racks. One is right by the cafe's outer door. Arrived in Fairfield to relocate our daughter and took this in on Sunday Morning. I had the Biscuits and Gravy. A bit deconstructed, but, none the less, it was Biscuits and gravy. I think they had new Chef. The B & G were the saltiest I have ever tasted. And I am a salt lover. I had a egg over easy on it, to help bring it down, but, wow. My wife had eggs benedict-Good, and my daughter had omelet (Spinach-Mushroom). The Coffee was good. Probably was an off morning. Anyway, I won't destroy the Review. First of all, the good: Some of the dishes are really delicious. For instance, the egg dishes are great, as are the nachos and burritos and soups. Great coffee. The staff is wonderful. The food is organic. The cafe is located in and part of Everybody's, the local whole foods store, and Everybody's is just terrific. The 'could be better': The food is too expensive and they nickle and dime you. For instance, toast, muffins, biscuits are served dry and plain. Want butter? That is an extra charge. They offer a stir fry vegetable dish for $8 -- for a side-dish sized serving of veggies. If you want the sauce that comes with it, it will cost you another $1.50ish, rice will set you back $2.50 more. It's all like that. I wondered if they would charge for the napkins. The food is for the most part delicious, but it is all the same taste. They use vinegar on almost everything so if you don't like that you're out of luck. All the soups are creamy, there's a sameness there too. And some of the foods are just weird. For instance, the guacamole is sharp and acidic (more vinegar), dark green and doesn't have anything in it recognizable as avocado. My impression is that the staff has a talented chef but he (and they) are untrained and inexperienced. They don't follow the standard conventions you find in most restaurants and seem to be learning and making it up as they go. I think they have a good start and hope they keep learning and improving. The place shows promise but it's not quite there yet. read more

My daughter has Celiac. We were very excited as they had a great gluten free menu. When we questioned them about cross contamination, they assured us they were very careful and kept gluten and non gluten items separate. We have eaten there a few times, and my daughter has not been feeling well. We found out today, after completing our meal, that they use the same oil for gluten items as the non-gluten items. I'm a big fan! I love the fresh juices, the coffee, sweet potato fries, Turkey bacon BLT and much more. I love the friendly staff. I appreciate the healthy/tasty organic food. I would give 5 stars, but that would mean there's no room for improvement when I think there could be a little. I told my husband that I'd much rather spend the $25 dollars (for two) on an incredibly healthy, hearty breakfast than $50-$70 on an evening meal. I highly recommend Everybody's Cafe!
