Let me preface this review by saying we did not have Arborguard complete a service for us. Our neighbors used this service, and Arborguard removed bushes on our property line as well! I asked the workers before they began to please leave the bushes on our side of the fence untouched. They removed them anyway. When I went out to ask them about it again, I was told "Oops, looks like I got a bit carried away". Absolutely unacceptable. They removed bushes on my property and trampled our flower beds! Our massive Southern Magnolia overspreading our home and our neighbor's was promoting green mildew on our wood deck and mold on our siding and our neighbor's. John Powell, Arbor Guard Arborist, suggested trimming the lower limbs to allow more sun and circulation under the overspreading crown. As it was near a large Water Oak that had been cut down many years ago, it was also rather lopsided and showing heaviness over our roofs so he suggested thinning out the growing side to allow the side that had been overshaded by the Oak to flush out. Since he gave our Magnolia a 9.9 on a scale of 1-10 we followed his suggestions and are very happy with the results [as is our neighbor]. John showed up with the crew [headed by Johnny] and made sure they understood what was to be done. He successfully mediated a complaint from our alley neighbor about moving the large chipper down the alley next to his home much to our relief as pruning debris from the Magnolia would have been nearly impossible to manage or transport otherwise. Thank you John. It was apparent as the day wore on that Johnny and his crew respected each other and genuinely loved what they were doing. All in all a great experience with a terrific outcome. Over the years, as most homeowners, we have conducted home-related business with tradesmen and professionals in dozens of fields. Happily, most encounters have been satisfactory; however, there is only one company that we would classify as exemplary and recommend without any reservations. That company is Arborguard Tree Specialists. When we needed help preserving several large trees on our property that were likely going to be endangered by development on the lot next door, James Blackburn, a tree specialist with Arborguard, came to the house on several occasions and accessed the health of these trees, explaining which trees could be saved and which could not. He also took a considerable amount of time to educate us about the impact of heavy equipment on the structural root plates and critical root zones of trees. We were then able to encourage the developer to avoid practices that would lead to irrevocable damage to them. During the six months we have been working with the developer to take measures suggested by James to preserve the health of our trees, James patiently and promptly responded to our frequent e-mails and texts, answered our questions, offered advice, and continued to educate us about caring for trees. He also provided us with the names of other helpful resources in the county. Though it is James's vast knowledge of trees and the essential role they play in maintaining a healthy environment and animal habitat that have impressed us over the past several months, it is his rare integrity as a businessman, his professionalism, and his dedication to his craft as an arborist that are even more notable. What great service. The guy that came out (I think his name was Jay) was really into taking a look at my trees and property. He was a bucket of information but not pushy with sales. He provided a good care plan for a large oak and suggested a few other specimens based on needs/likes. There was no charge for the visit but I will be scheduling a root feeding service because of the consultation. read more

I highly recommend Arborguard. I had them come out to examine three very large hemlocks in my yard that I was afraid had HWA, Hemlock Wooly Adelgid disease. Another company supposedly treated them for HWA two years ago but the underside of the needles were still white. Arborguard's arborist assured me it was not HWA and no treatment was needed. He also pruned a Japanese maple himself, rather than sending out a crew for such a small job. He could have estimated expensive work for both jobs, but instead, he charged me nothing. I'm grateful for his honesty and for saving me money! I can assure you, you won't be disappointed when you hire Arborguard. read more

I really appreciate Arborguard. They have been a huge part of the Atlanta tree scene with Trees Atlanta and ongoing with my neighborhood, my house, my mother's place, the neighborhood pool. Everything. It is really great to have a certified arborist come and look at whatever issue or question you have. They have helped me save trees, save the house, plant them, take them out. All of the above. We have enjoyed loads of mulch from Arborguard as well. Pitching mulch is quite a workout but the results are wonderful. I probably need a new load in the fall. One morning, their crew was at my house setting up for an appointment before I left for work. Very dedicated. Another time, they arrived the same way and were finished before I got home, and they left no evidence of any mess or debris. Everything was cleaned up very well with no damage to any smaller plants, the yard or trees. Amazing. Arborguard is highly recommended. read more

These guys are great! They know and care about trees. They don't want to just come out and cut your trees down, they want to save your trees. We had them out to trim some branches back from the house right before we moved and we now wish we had been using them the whole 4 years at our house! We have/had two beautiful oaks in our front yard and they really wanted to help us keep them healthy. We had always worried about the trees' health and now we are like, "duh, why didn't we call Arborguard 4 years ago". We hope the new owners will use Arborguard. They aren't the cheapest out there, but then again, I don't think they are for people just looking for lowest price. Arborguard is for people who care about their property. Super nice, polite, smart arborists that you deal with when you call these guys. read more

Great service from start to finish. Highly recommend!

We have had an annual plan with Arborguard for several years. They consistently failed to communicate the status of our trees and there is absolutely no personal service. You are just a number to them. This year we had to cut down an old oak tree that had a one foot hollow portion on the inside which Arborguard never even hinted about. We only knew to ask b/c a giant limb had cracked and was hollow. If the tree had come down in a storm it easily could have damaged multiple houses on our street. We saw no real benefit from their treatment plan. Please DO NOT use them. read more
