He's both a certified Arborist and Treecare Safety Professional, which was very important to me in my hiring decision. While other companies left me feeling more anxious after their assessments, Brendan gave me peace of mind. He genuinely cared about the health of my landscape, and he walked me through the process with clarity and professionalism. He even handled the permit filing with the city on my behalf, making the process smooth and stress-free. The tree's location was tricky--situated in the back corner of my yard near two neighboring homes--but Brendan and his crew executed the removal with precision. On service day, his team showed up on time, worked efficiently, practiced excellent safety measures, and were gracious and respectful throughout. I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate in or around their busy season (late June). Brendan personally came out to inspect my tree problem. He really knows his stuff and he is super courteous / nice with no high pressure sales tactics. He sent me an estimate a day or two later and the price was more than fair for the work we had discussed being done. Just to be sure, I got more inspections / estimates from other tree service companies and Gill Tree Care won me over easily. The difference in how the other guys do inspections and conduct their business negotiations (e.g. providing estimates / plan of action options / sales tactics) when compared to Gill is like the difference between night and day. The day the tree was scheduled to be taken down finally came to pass and - as no surprise - his crew did the job exactly as one would expect: Fast, safe, efficient. Perhaps most importantly; there was no residual damage to my property or to my neighbors. The job took about 3.5 hours from start to finish. This is a fantastic business, and I have two stories to support this claim. The first is I noticed the bushes in front of my house appeared to be dying this spring. I called Gill Tree Care (Brendan is an arborist) and they had a two week wait list because they were so busy, but since my bushes might be dying and time was of the essence, Brendan stopped by the next day very early in the morning and checked them out. He then emailed me and said they could possibly use some organic fertilizer (which he attached a quote for), but he recommended I wait a season and see what happened. In a few weeks, the bushes were looking better--Brendan had gone out of his way to help me and hadn't charged me a dime. A few weeks later I had a branch break off a big tree in my back yard and it was dangling over my fence and my neighbor's fence. Brendan came back out and said that once the branch was pruned the tree would be compromised and should be taken out. We scheduled the removal, and in the interim the branch fell and was resting on my fence. Brendan called for photos of the tree so he could send them to the city to get the tree removal permit and noticed the branch laying on my fence. He said it could take a week or more for the permit to be approved, but he didn't like the branch laying on my fence for that long, so he ended up sending guys out twice--once to get the branch off my fence and again to take the tree out. This was all at his cost, and he did it all proactively without me asking just because he's a decent person and an honest business man. The guys who have come out to work on the property were all polite, friendly, and extremely professional and good at their jobs. I think if there were more business that were run like this one, we'd all get along better! read more
