Friendly staff does not make up for the price gouging. Paid up front $9,500.00 for the removal of 7 trees and trimming of another. After walk around, it was decided on removing 6 trees and 1 branch off the other. No refund was given plus denying the difference even with 4 of us standing there when the transaction was paid and the removal and trimming amount was changed. No tree stumps were removed. There was approximately 10 total hours involved with traveling back & forth plus haul away. No heavy equipment was involved and the owner thinks I've no right to question receiving at least $1000 back for doing less. She made out her invoice for 6 trees and a trim job however that is not what we had paid up front for. 1 tree less is a lot and considerable less trimming of another was a lot. read more

Don's did such an amazing job removing multiple trees, pruning trees, and grinding multiple stumps for us. We were very nervous when selecting a tree service company because one of the trees was huge and right next to our house, but once we started watching them work, all worries went away. They had to bring in a crane to remove two of the trees, and they did so with grace in a very tight space. Donnie came out to give me a quote and it was expensive but I expected that. I contacted Don because she came recommended by a friend. The response time in the beginning was great. Don personally came to give me a quote. The part that came after was horrible. Don's Tree Service provided a rapid and professional solution to what could have been a very bad situation. I realized I had a dead tree that was leaning toward the road and only held up by a couple of branches from some smaller nearby trees. It was big enough to be a disaster if it fell into the road onto someone or someone's car and too big for me to deal with by myself. Don's took it seriously and sent a crew out same day to deal with it and had it and another tree that I needed to get rid of down for what I considered to be a very reasonable price (i.e. a hell of a lot less than paying for catastrophic injuries and replacement vehicles). The treecutting crew did a very professional job (and put up with a neighbor's dog that had gotten loose nd were attentive to keep the dog out of harm's way) and the cleanup crew did a marvelous job in what was frankly some pretty bad weather conditions.I hadn't realized until today they had driven out from Decatur to get to Gwinnett, but I would still keep them top of mind for any future tree-cutting needs I have. read more

In each case I asked her to please call me so I would know when she would be showing up. In the early afternoon, I spoke to someone in the office who assured me that Doni would be there by 4:00. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! We hired them to cut one tree down completely and trim a second tree. They came and cut the tree down and were supposed to return the next day and grind down the stump and remove all of the limbs. They did a good job with cutting down the first tree and cutting the limbs on the second tree. The problem? They left all of the limbs and an entire tree on our lawn. It's all still there 5 days later and we are left with the task of finding another company to come out and clean it all up. I cannot in good conscious give this company a good review. I will say that the workers are professional and do a good job but that is where the good service stops. The most important thing to know is they gave us an estimate, which we signed and then on the last day of service (which took over 2 weeks) they called and asked for more money for a tree that was on our signed estimate. I had questioned THREE different times to make sure that tree in particular would be taken down and was assured whatever was on the signed estimate would be done but they called on the last day and asked for $2700 more dollars. This is dishonest and lacks professionalism- do what you say you are going to do for the agreed upon amount. The next big problem is communication. They would call or text the day of or night before letting us know that they would be there and never show up, our job took over 2 weeks with multiple days we would received phone calls that they would be there and they would not come. I understand delays due to weather but most of the promised days were perfectly good days to work. They also cut one day and pick up the next, they would call and say they were coming to clean up but never show up or only clean up part of the debris. The most frustrating things have been lack of transparency about the estimate and final bill- I would not trust them to be honest with you and if they do make an honest mistake at least make it right and the lack of accurate communication. They also called me 5 times in the same day (once at 8:30 at night) to collect final payment- you can't accurately tell me when you will be on my property to do work or what the actual bill is going to be but you can sure call me 5 times in the same day to get your money. You can glance at the almost 5 star reviews on Google, and tell that it's a different company from the 3 star "Tree Experts". Without this confusion, it would definitely be showing 5 stars! If you read the BBB reports on Don's Tree Experts, you'll see the same patterns. This is NOT Don's Tree Experts, but a much better company! After seeing years worth of people on Facebook, moaning about tree services, I was worried when we had to contact one. "Tree services" seem to be well known for taking a deposit, and leaving the work unfinished for weeks or months. We were lucky enough to contact Don's. They've done work for us TWICE now. They got out quickly, and gave a fair quote. Showed up on the day it was scheduled, (which was less than a week later), and did all of the work as described. Nothing left behind, nothing left undone, no hidden charges. I remained outside with the crew the entire day, for our latest job, as there were several different things they were handling for us. The guys were professional, polite, excellent at their work, and efficient. They went above and beyond to make us happy. I asked if she had insurance for her workers and she told me she did, which was a LIE. There website even claims that they have insurance. I went ahead and wrote her a check for the down payment being under the impression that the company had insurance. The next day, I called her insurance company and was told that they DID NOT have insurance. So naturally, I went ahead and cancelled the check and told her people to not come to remove my tree. Jump ahead to six months and I am now being sued by the, most likely crooked, check cashing company that she used to cash the check because they need the funds that I wrote out the check for. They came out on time and did an amazing job with cutting down this massive tree that I had in the yard; it caused A LOT of damage to my roof. We called yesterday to set up an appointment for someone from Don's Tree Service to come out and give us an estimate for tree removal. The person at the call center (Moriah) was very nice and scheduled an appointment for today at 3:15. She told me that I would receive an appointment confirmation email. I never received an email which was the first red flag. We waited at the location from 3:15 - 3:45 and no one ever showed up nor did we ever receive a call saying they were running late. This company gets a 2 due to the customer service experience. The actual work was fine. We had a large job and was told it would take a week and a half to complete. It was four large trees in our backyard, one tree in the front to be removed with all the stumps ground and some pruning for aesthetic purposes. It took over a month. I was lied to by so many representatives of this company so many times, it was ridiculous. My job was not an emergency, but I paid for the entire job upfront... rookie mistake. I was told they were dealing with emergencies which I completely understood, but I was lied and told they would come one day to do something no one would show up for half the week. Then the company's calling service would call everyday and lie about when things were going to be worked on. It was a nightmare, once I contacted my lawyer and informed the company they had a week to finish the job. I was directed to someone other than Doni and the job finally got completed. The work was done properly, but I went weeks with yard debris piled up and constantly having to deal with lies. If you have the patience of Job and no real danger in letting trees hang over your home, I would recommend. Otherwise, please use another company. read more

This questionable company removed a large tree across the street from where I live and caused a major incident when a huge chunk of the tree hit a passing car. The air bags in the car popped out and one of the people was injured and removed by a paramedic. A woman, who was also in the car, and was with a small child, became hysterical. She was also eventually taken away in an ambulance. Don's Tree Service was removing this large tree near a busy street and needed to be extremely careful. When I saw and heard the large branches coming down, I was thinking it was possible they might hit someone and they did within a few hours. This incident, which was chaotic before the ambulance and firetruck showed up, was also traumatic for everyone involved including neighbors and people in passing cars who tried to help. Don's Tree Service was responsible for all of that and I certainly wouldn't hire them, mistake or not. read more

My son suggested Don's Tree Service after the excellent service he experienced after 2 Pines fell on the roof of his new home during the ice storm 2013. I needed 11 Pines and 5 Sweet Gum trees removed to open up my yard for landscape modifications. Monday I called Don's TS and Doni answered. She came came to our home at the time she said for an visual estimate. The price was right and we signed a contract that afternoon. Doni is a wonderful person with a good sense of business urgency and business ethics. She was a pleasure to work with during the time my credit card was being declined multiple times as she tried to process the transaction. As it turned out "just as she said", my daily spending limit probably was set low. My bank confirmed that and modified the daily limit. Doni and her crew(s) in my honest opinion are good folk - doing what they do - and doing it well. And for all reading this, I got no perks/kick backs/discounts/bla bla bla/etc etc. I'm just telling it like it is. Tuesday, morning @ 0900 the cutting crew were setting up for the cut. By 5pm all trees were down and stacked for removal. Wednesday, the removal crew were onsite at 0900 grabbing the branch/foliage debris and the logs and placing all in the dump truck. Took several trips to the dump sight for two dayz to get it all removed, Thursday, afternoon the stump grinder person arrived and ground all stumps before 6pm while another person working the crane reeled in the logs that were too far away from the street for the removal crew to grab with their equipment and placed it neatly along the curb for access. Today, Friday, the removal crew returned to grab that last pile of timber and loaded into the dump truck and headed off. Job complete with a happy customer and neighbors that want the number to this tree service for their future use.
