Oh my goodness, where do I start? My palm tree needed trimming. It's not very tall, but it had lots of dead fronds on it. So I contacted Arbor MD requesting a pricing for trimming it. They came back with $600, far more than I had ever paid to trim that tree. The last time I paid a local gardener $250, so I asked if I could have that price. They said no. Fast-forward several months and my HOA was negotiating to have trees cut in our neighborhood and Arbor MD was the contractor. Again, I asked for the $250 price and they agreed!! I was very happy...until... Communication was awful. I had no idea when they coming to trim the palm. Turned out to be today. They sent me a last-minute email saying they would only take fronds that were completely brown, but there were so many that had partially brown fronds that needed to come off, so I sent an email cancelling. At that time, I still had no idea of when they were coming to do the service. Lauren sent back an email saying they wouldn't cancel because the HOA contracted with them to trim my tree. Now, I was court mediator for many years and during that time handled a lot of property disputes. I own my home, not the HOA, and my tree presented no hazard to any other property or person. The HOA had no say as to when, who and how my tree was to be trimmed. I then receive and message from both the HOA and Lauren apologizing, saying they confused my property with another. My tree was not getting trimmed. Then I went for a run, saw not only the workers but Lauren herself who also assured me my tree wouldn't be trimmed. Guess what? They lied. I get home from work and start water my garden. My favorite shrub that I had been nurturing for 15 years was destroyed. So were the new flowers next to it. I look up and the tree was trimmed. I'll send them a bill for the shrub and look forward to receiving compensation. As for the HOA, I'll deal with them later. Sadly, this company can't be trusted or concerned with your property. Go elsewhere for your landscape needs. read more

Greatest tree specialist! I can't say enough good things about Deva. Our front yard tree sadly had numerous issues and was nearing the end of its life. Deva and his team came to take care of 4 big trees. One was a very tall loquat - they did a fabulous job. See the before and after pics. There is now more light and air in the backyard and I can see the sky. They worked very quickly, efficiently and confidently, leaving the backyard clean. We called Arbor MD to tame a fig tree that was dropping fruit on a neighbor's car. He was able to schedule an after-work assessment at the beginning of the week and follow up with the work later that same week so we could address our neighbor's concerns in a timely manner. We'd used a larger company before that had an arborist do the assessment but uncertified workers come back to do the job later. I was much more comfortable with Deva there able to explain recommendations about what to cut and not to cut. I could not be happier with the quality and integrity of this company, and I'm really picky!!! Deva is incredibly knowledgeable and took great care to do what was right for my very old and very tall cypress tree. I had 2 previous estimates with companies who clearly knew little about the health of the tree. Deva even suggested I wait another year without doing anything in case the demise of the tree is quicker than expected. He could easily have made a quick buck without me knowing the difference. I was very lucky to find Arbor MD through Friends of the Urban Forest. I have 3 huge trees in my very overgrown backyard. I got 4 estimates and Deva's price was the least costly because he is very knowledgeable and forthcoming about what is necessary. Others told me the tree was being taken over by aphids. Another told me all the ivy had to be taken down from the tree. Deva asked me what my priorities were and came up with solutions. They did a beautiful job. We were happy and so were our neighbors. The sidewalk to the front of my house was recently tagged by the City, due to a tree uprooting the pavement. Annoying as it seems the City of San Francisco relinquish any responsibility to maintain the sidewalk or trees to the front of one's property. I contacted Deva who gave me a list of options as I had only 30 days in which to comply with the City's notice. He not only gave me a great price, but was able to refer me to a contractor, Patrick O'donoghue, who was able to take care of the paving. I had spoken to a number of arborist's at length about my tree problem and found that they lacked the knowledge and professionalism, and above all were not able to make themselves available to work with a contractor. Two of my neighbour's also had the same problem, so we utilized the services of Deva who did the work as we had planned.
