I drove the wheel of my GLI through a pothole deeper than the Mariana Trench. There was significant vibration in the steering wheel as a result. I called the local VW dealership who incorrectly diagnosed a 'solution' of tire alignment and balancing which would not have fixed the problem. I took the car to AR Auto Pro. They lifted the car and inspected it in front of me. They were immediately able to diagnose the problem was a bent wheel. They were able to use a specialist to straighten the wheel and get the bend out for a very reasonable price. The car drives perfect again and it's such a relief to find mechanics that I feel I can trust. They mentioned some other things with the car but just to let me know. They performed the diagnosis while I was physically present, they did not apply any pressure and left the decision making process up to me in terms of what I was willing to have done with the car. They also didn't charge for the diagnosis, changing the spare while the wheel was being straightened, or rotating the tyres when they put the wheel back on. In short , they were an absolute joy to deal with and I could not recommend them highly enough. read more

AR Auto has been my mechanic for nearly 20 years--Ford/Lincoln and Lexus. Exceptional knowledge spanning, as I can tell, all auto manufacturers. Exceptional investment in state-of-art equipment that they know how to use. Customers shown what needs to be repaired; not like dealers that just tell you and won't let you see your vehicle in their maintenance bays. A courtesy inspection of a Lincoln we own resulted in identification of grease leak from left front axle; car had been in dealer for service only two weeks before and "multipoint inspection" certificate by dealer said axle was "Green". When dealership service confronted with leak, it was significant (and apparently persistent) so they had to replace entire axle assembly (less than 20K miles). AR Auto discusses a variety of part sources with customers,including OEM--but not just OEM. Their aim is quality maintenance and repair at prices more affordable that dealers. Not cheap--Affordable, which matters to me here in MD. read more

So, I went here on Yelp to search for a local reputable auto shop I could trust. I am so glad I came to ARautoPRO. I made an appointment online, and was taken right away when I arrived at the shop. In a few short hours, Rob was able to tell me what work I needed done on my vehicle now, and what could wait a little while longer. He even diagnosed a problem with my car that other repair shops could not (ignition coil)-- these guys are definitely knowledgeable and I always felt I could trust their work and expertise. I recently moved to Montgomery County from out of state and am so glad to have found my new go-to auto repair shop. I have had nothing but excellent service at ARautoPRO. So far, I've had an oil change, a new battery installed, a MD state inspection, and a full set of brake pads and rotors. All the work has been done same-day and at a reasonable price. Rob is always genuine and honest about what needs to be done right away and what to expect at the next oil change, if need be. Initially, my car did not pass inspection because of a bubble in a tire. Rob was able to obtain a replacement tire and have it installed same day. Rob even went out of his way to submit the old tire to Goodyear to see if I could potentially be reimbursed for the faulty tire. What a great experience. I came for a regular oil change, along with a general car check. The difficulty with car mechanics is that it is very tempting to exaggerate problems to make more money. But with Rob and Ron I felt that they were as honest as it gets. They recommended that I change one of my tires that was damaged, along with the wheel. After giving me an estimate, I realized that my tire still had warranty on it (through Costco). But I still needed the new wheel. Rather than telling me to get the tire replaced, and then come back for the wheel, Rob offered to give me the wheel and have Costco just put the tire on the new wheel. This way I would save money and wouldn't need to pay twice for labor. This was the main reason why I decided to get my wheel alignment done here the next day, and it's also why I will be coming back with any other issues. Can't beat honesty! read more

I met the owners of ARautoPRO a few years ago through mutual friends. At the time, I was already had a mechanic for minor work in the gaithersburg area, but since the ARautoPRO shop was about a mile from my mom's house, I decided to try them out. Since that time, I've been taking all 4 of my family's cars (which includes a Honda Accord, BMW 325, Toyota Pickup Truck and Mazda 6) to these guys. The staff is very friendly and Ronaldo (the Head Mechanic and owner) is as knowledgeable as they come. They spend the time to sit with you and explain whatever issues your car might have, then propose the things that need to be fixed and the things you can probably wait on. I came in for my first time to get a brake inspection and wasn't sure what to expect, but Rob and Ron were both very friendly and got the inspection going in no time. The brake inspection was done in a few minutes (I was expecting longer because of my old shop) and they also advised me on my tires being due for a rotation and the oil needing a change. I ended up needing new rotors and pads, but I was quoted a reasonable price, and they were able to do everything the same day. I really admire their customer service and overall demeanor. This is definitely a place where they would know you on a first name basis - which I appreciate. Overall, their reviews speak for themselves, I've never seen a company with consistent 5-star reviews across 3 separate review services. Surprisingly an excellent visit. I had reservations based off previous experiences where I would go to a mechanic chop and the mechanic would find issues with the dillywig and flux capacitors in my car - seemingly inventing problems. The difference here is that Ron not only told me he found an issue with a ball bearing on my car, but after explaining that I didn't know what that was he walked me around and demonstrated the effect a bad ball bearing had vs a good one on my car. I cracked a joke after he wobbled my wheel saying "I see. So, that's bad, right?" and instead of the usual gruffy mechanic "*snort* yeah." he laughs and says "Well, yes unless you're a REALLY good driver". Ron was a great sport, incredibly helpful and not pushy. Just an overall good guy. I'll definitely be going back to continue repairs. read more

Best experience I have ever had with an auto repair company. I found these guys here on yelp and decided to give them a call. I was immediately impressed by their customer service. I decided to take my car in so they could look at it and now I will never take my car anywhere else. There are a few times when you need everything to fall into place and Rob did that for me. I was moving out of the area and right before I left my check engine light came on. I called two other places and stopped another before I happened to call Rob who was a life saver. Before you drive 4 hrs you want to make sure you can even if the check engine light comes on. Rob was able to accommodate my emergency and get me back on the road within 30 or so minutes. Used to go to Bethesda Automotive because they did great work, had great customer service and had good prices before they closed earlier this year so I needed to find a new shop with the same qualities...enter ARautoPRO. Not only were they able to provide a quick turnaround on the fairly decent amount work my c300 needed but they also did the work at the best price you're going to get anywhere in the DC area. Rob and Ron are truly professionals, this shop is the kind of shop you always try to find around and once you found it becomes one of your favorite ones. Very honest guys who will do the best possible job for a reasonable price - no hidden costs. For the past couple years I`ve taking my car to ARautoPRO. First I had a BMW 1998 Z3, which is not a easy car to maintain and repair.
