Came here after a long trip and were glad to get a last-minute reservation. The ambiance and views definitely lived up to the hype, and the seating was very comfortable. Our server was also wonderful and honestly one of the highlights of the night. That said, the food experience was a bit disappointing, especially for the price point. The Miyabi Maki sounded amazing on paper with lobster, wagyu, and caviar, but the caviar tasted overly fishy and didn't seem very fresh. The octopus was dry, and some of the dishes felt too rice-heavy, including the sushi and even the amuse-bouche. The sea bass was probably our favorite dish flavor-wise, although the rice underneath seemed undercooked. Service timing was also quite slow -- we were there for over two hours despite the restaurant not being busy, and it took almost 50 minutes for the first course to arrive. Again don't think it's the server's fault but when the food was available Overall, we really wanted to love this place and are hoping it may have just been an off night, because the setting and hospitality definitely have a lot of potential. read more

Had brunch and was absolutely blown away! Got the chocolate banana smoothie (I forget the actual name) and added sea moss and it was phenomenal. For brunch I got the Cajun shrimp avocado toast and I will be thinking about it for weeks to come. So, so flavorful. The prices are very high and the portions are extremely small. Our food wasn't good. My husband had the chicken dish which was nearly $60 for two small rectangular pieces of meat which tasted more like duck than chicken. I had the sea bass which was decent, but it came with a bland risotto. We received a small slice of cake for our anniversary. It was just layers upon layers of sweet frosting. I didn't taste any cake at all. This particular dessert isn't even on the regular menu. So that tells me this is a cheap and dish that they just give out for free. If you're at Nemacolin please try both Fawn & Fable and Gusto. Both of those restaurants are delicious! read more

Breakfast is a must do! The service was spectacular. Kate and her team were on top of everything. We had mimosas with mango puree, coffee, bread and goat cheese plate. Then we moved on to the main course. I had the classic, eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. My husband had the special surf and turf omlet and the avocado toast. My meal was perfectly prepared and came with a tasty garnish of arugula in a bright vinaigrette. The omlet had huge chunks of lobster and was topped with perfectly cooked flank steak. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant while staying at Nemacolin Resorts. We had dinner and breakfast there and both were amazing! Customer service is top notch and so is the food!! Don't miss out on this! I'm just sad today was our last day there and we just discovered it last evening or we would have been eating dinner there again tonight! Both meals we were surprised with a a little something extra. For dinner they gave us a piece of sushi that was so good, I would have ordered it had it been on the menu. They also gave us a chocolate truffle at the end of the meal, both complimentary. A perfect end to an amazing meal. We came to Nemacolin as a late Valentine's Day weekend and had dinner our second night at Aqueous. As usual, they did not disappoint. The Lobster Bisque was the best I have ever had. The croissant was the icing on the cake for me!! Hubby had the Octopus salad and it was actually incredible. They delivered the octopus on hot coal rocks which made it crispy not rubbery. For dinner we had both catches of the day- Walleye and Baked Cod. I was so excited to dig in, that I forgot photos. They were both excellent, but I especially enjoyed the potato crust on the walleye, For dessert we shared the pineapple cheesecake and my husband courageously ate the marigold flower on the plate.HINT- he said I stayed just like it smelled . Jamison our sever was so sweet and was very vested in our enjoying the meal. Hendren (spelling) was always there and worked so good with Jamison. The manger Bertram was so kind and invested in our service and enjoyment of the food. Most of all the food was AMAZING!!! The lobster bisque was literally EPIC and the best we ever had. Clams were out of this world!!! Halibut was so tasty and prepared to our specific request!! We got lobster bisque (forgot to take a picture) and shared the seafood tower. The seafood tower can easily feed 4 people. We were so full and sick by the end of the night. Everything on the tower was good. The lobster was a little tough when chewed. The bisque was delicious! The milk and honey dessert was top 3 best desserts that I have ever had in my life. Realizing I never reviewed this restaurant, and I just recently labeled this as my favorite stop of 2019 overall. I was skeptical to make a reservation as last minute as I did. However, a Saturday night at dinner time was open and ready for us to be seated coming from about an hour away. It was a perfect fall day that topped off with a sunset where we were seated, in what felt like the top of PA, to watch. I appreciated the style, cleanliness and large capacity of the restaurant. I also enjoyed the fresh single rose in a vase. I remember loving the bathroom, the fresh towels, the fountain outside, the other areas in the building to lounge, the automated shades, and the bar along with decorated flower vases and greenery and valet. I remember not feeling so heavily stuffed even though we did eat a lot. I like doing many small courses. Every part of the dinner was great. Stopped here having no idea this place even existed other than the Italian restaurant and the steak joint. Either way, it is located more on the golf side of things where the pro shop is. Glad I had navigation Bc i would have been lost with the grounds being vast. I would say one main problem is that there is no signage for it out on the road way or even once you get on the grounds to let you know you're going the right way. Complimentary valet service and a beautiful indoor area with seating as well as a lobby bar and outdoor fountains overlooking the course. We had reservations and I know that this place smells like money but overall being tended to by 5 people for water, meals, drinks, refills, food, extra items etc is a little much. Ordered a bourbon honey bee mixed drink which was garnished with a orange peel and was very good. We each had a salad with mine being a traditional variety mixed and tossed with poppyseed dressing. I wanted to order a steak (yes I know it's mainly seafood) but the only real option was a 20oz ribeye. So I went with the salmon that came with gold potatoes, some type of mash underneath and broccoli stalks. The salmon was over cooked - though they said it would be served medium. However- it's not a big deal. Had to get dessert which I went with the bananas foster pudding. It was good - presentation was nice. Also added a cup of coffee which may be the best I have ever had, got a refill and paid. Convenient and in a beautiful setting but the vaulted open ceiling makes it very loud and the food was just ok. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was previously frozen, Caesar salad was very heavy and creamy, halibut was a dry. Took my wife here to celebrate her 50th birthday. Nice ambiance with great view of golf course, but service and food no where near justify the price point. While the food was good it certainly was not $650 for a party of two - good. MP for seafood tower was $185 which admittedly surprised our already lofty exceptions. While each course was "good" nothing was unique, noteworthy, or great. I understand when at Nemacolon you have to accept this reality, but from a restaurant perspective certainly not worth it IMHO. read more

Most of us agreed that this was by far our favorite dinner. Service and presentation was excellent. We had several servers deliver our food when it was ready, and they described our dish to us. Of the three restaurants I mentioned above, this also had the most intriguing menu to me, both because I love seafood and because of their dessert menu. Dined on a Sunday night and unfortunately seated next to a loud, rude, group of three which distracted from the otherwise ambiance which was beautiful. Wine selection was great and limited menu gave options for us. We selected a tuna dish that was really quite average and a scallops dish which again was very average. Considering pricing of both I wouldn't return and dine at one of the other Nemacolin restaurants. Barratolo was our favorite by far. Service was light at best and again very average. I'll cherish the memory of my first time dining here for as long as I'm able to remember things. My girlfriends and I had the most incredible time sharing course after course with perfect cocktails and bubbly paired with it. Before being seated at our table we hit the bar to make waiting more fun. The bartender was nice enough to go out of his way make me something off the menu -- an on point michelada, my favorite drink. Wow...I have heard a lot about this place being "amazing" from many friends and they are dead wrong. Being someone who loves to try out the higher end restaurants and food joints this is by far my worst experience to date. Calling in reservations was met with a rude host who couldn't supply a food top because a party was coming in at 8 (it was 6:30) and had the audacity to ask "How long will it take you eat?" So off the gate this is Dennys Service at best We arrive to see there are well over 10 tables available with only 4 other groups in the restaurant. I wasn't surprised of the prices on the food as it is "higher end dining" I was told the Lamb was amazing and a must have and I love a good lamb, and for $56.00 I expected it to be damn amazing as the last lamb I had was only $45.00 from "Or, the whale" (you must go there over here) and I received probably 10 small slices of medium rare lamb with little to no seasoning, some grilled broccoli and a potato hash that tasted like it was from IHOP. On top of this our water was $7.00.....because it is high ph, excuse me but what the ****? Overall this place is a lying insult to what high end dining should be. I feel sorry for anyone who goes here and wastes money thinking this is special. Extremely disappointed and very regretful I spent any money here, the hotel is great though :) read more

Located at nemacolin I'm falling rock! Stayed right there which is super convenient. Service was on point - courteous and what you would expect at upscale restaurant! Menu was diverse with flavorful options! Dessert options were good! Lots of seafood dishes but others also. Bread service was excellent! Wine menu could use improvement with regards to white wines but descent! Will be back! When comparing other restaurants on the resort this is better than Rockwell with nice views across the grounds. read more

More accurately, 4.5 stars. The food was very good - we had the wagyu and the duck. Wagyu dish came with some noodles (amazing) and broccolini (very good) and kimchi (perfect), although the wagyu itself wasn't the most tender I've had, but still very good! The duck was delicious but rather rare. For dessert we had the bacon cream brûlée. Adventurous and delicious. Service was great. The view through all the windows was amazing. Aqueous, you may know by now, it no longer the Nemacolin Steakhouse. That menu genre and cook staff has been moved down to the new Rockwell's at Lodge. The ex Lodge restaurant menu and cook staff from Autumn, has been moved into Aqueous at Falling Rock. Does that all make sense? Confusing at first, at least it was for me when trying to make reservations for dinner for 2 nights having been accustomed to the previous long standing assignments. Nothing has changed the beauty of Falling Rock or the outstanding views out the Aqueous windows looking over the golf course and beautiful landscape vista. The menu is in keeping with nature and the natural surroundings where Nemacolin is situated. It tries to follow the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired theme of the Falling Rock Hotel. Love of Nature and Balance and Harmony of your surroundings. Local sustainable sourcing is a major theme throughout the selections. Kudos for Aqueous for sourcing so much from Local, Regional, Organic and Sustainable small suppliers. The tastes and flavors of everything exhibits that commitment and care. I am tempted to outline the menu here but you can read it for yourself at the Namacolin Aqueous website where everything is listed and all the sources are given. You will no doubt be impressed. But to mention only a few for example: Swordfish from Ocean City; Pan-Roasted Walleye from Lake Erie; Rabbit from Altoona Pa.;Pork from Smock Pa.; Beef from Posperity Pa.; Duck Eggs from Farmington Pa. You get it. We started with a split of Shepherd's Greens Salad, with the Daily Dig & Cutting of Lettuces, Endives, Radish, Carrot, Garden Herb & Buttermilk Dressing. This was a great fresh local greens salad with a nice lite dressing. Delicious. No way could it be fresher or more fresh, however you say it. We were both lured by the local Walleye from Lake Erie. Another as fresh as you can get local product. For some Walleye tops the list of the best freshwater fish and we are in the camp. So this was the Pan-Roasted Lake Erie Walleye, served with Dilled New Potato, Grilled Asparagus, Horseradish Butter. Boy was this fresh, moist and delicious. The skin was perfectly crisp, and couldn't be any better. Okay save to say we could not try everything. But what we did have lived up to the Aqueous billing as providing fresh and local abundance. Bread, Wine, Cocktails and Service were also up to par that you would expect here. So far, with one time dining here in the new theme, we really enjoyed it and I would say you could not go wrong to trek up to Aqueous at Nemacolin's famous Falling Rock. read more

Oh man! What a disappointment I made reservations at this place a month ago and had to wrap food and go back to the room due to extremely poor and disorganized service. It was by far the most terrible experience. I should give one star but want to be fair to soup and salad which was tasty but service super slow. We were seated at 7:20 and served food at 9 pm. My three year old was so hungry and felt asleep without dinner. For half hour we didn't even had the QR code menu. It took 20 min for server to get us one. Then once we ordered it took an hour to get our food. Even the server didn't know where the food was. We were so exhausted at this point that decided to go back to the room. I know my review won't make a difference most probably since guests have not much choice of restaurants at the resort but writing this hoping this never happens to other people read more

The food was decent as far as flavors, but nothing spectacular - especially for the prices. Where we really found an issue was with the level of service. Our main server was okay - just very busy. We had a busser that first tried to clear my dish when I was not finished with it, and then during another moment tried to fill our water glasses with tap even though we had a bottle of still on the table. He then lied to us and said it was the same (it wasn't). The restaurant also features a sommelier, which is great, but when we tried to get his attention to get a suggestion, we heard him whisper "Jesus Christ" under his breath and he arrived to our table in a huff. These things combined didn't make for a great dining experience. Especially after having had such a great experience at Lautrec the night before. Would not go back. read more

Easy to get lost at night with the poor signage, so make sure you have good directions and locate the restaurant on their website before you depart. Spacious and ostentatious space, expectations were set very high when we were seated. Design is clearly inspired by F.L. Wright's Prairie School, an ode to nearby Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. It is a spectacular venue. Complimentary bread basket was delicious. various fresh breads served with a salty butter and cranberry spread. Several menu specials. We ordered fish and a steak, also brought a complimentary appetizer (mushroom thing). I don't remember what the fish was exactly, but I remember it was served with some Asian flavors. Very well done. It was tasty and well received. Ordered the steak prepared medium well, however it was clearly served well done. Really dampened the flavor, which was good. Curious, I noticed another patron from the reviews had the same issue. Might be a communication problem. It was the little extras that bumped Aqueous from 3 to 4 stars. Couple of items for improvement. First, steak needed to be served to order. I'm certain they would have corrected the order if I had asked, I just didn't want to bother. Also, the jazz music playing really wasn't dinner music. Simply too intense for a fine dining setting. Perfectly acceptable in a lounge, but not a restaurant. read more

We enjoyed an amazing dinner at Aqueous! The view of the golf course and sunset were just breathtaking. The service was on point and absolutely wonderful. The sommelier that came over to the table was very knowledge and thorough. He provided us with great wine suggestions. I ordered the filet and it was seasoned well and cooked as requested (medium). We had dinner at Aqueous the other night to celebrate a birthday (which they forgot after it was mentioned to them when the reservation was made). The place was pretty much empty. We assumed it was because of the off-season at Nemacolin. But perhaps it was because this place is not worth the expensive price tag. The staff were very nice but seemed a bit inexperienced. They brought the wrong dish out to my husband, he ate it thinking it was his (he ordered a cut of beef he doesn't usually have and they brought the duck). The table that ordered the duck were behind us. The waitress offered them a new entree, they didn't offer a new one to my husband. I had the agnolotti which was overcooked and lacked flavor. And for $30, was actually the size of a starter. Upon making a reservation, they were told we were celebrating a birthday. Nobody said a thing, even though we saw another party celebrating a birthday who received a dessert with a candle. The manager came out and apologized, but they lost us after the way they handled the mix-up and the mediocre food. Not sure if I'd spend a whole week at the resort if I had to eat exclusively at this restaurant, which given the location, your options are definitely limited. read more

Sweet Fancy Moses! The whole meal was fabulous but I think we all would've been happy with giant vats of the squash soup and the amish milk bread. But let me start from the top. Wait staff was quick, attentive, gave good recommendations and was funny. Amuse bouche of asparagus pannacotta with pancetta. Wow. Not exactly to my taste (pregnancy has screwed with my taste buds) but the rest of the group enjoyed it. And the milk bread and salted butter. We almost took the server's hand off when he tried to take the bread. Rave reviews for the deconstructed wedge salad. Intermezzo of the squash soup which we wished for more. Three of us got steak with assorted sides. Cooked to desired temp including my well done. Succulent and tasty. My sister got the mac and cheese on recommendation from server. Points to him. Dessert was the trio of creme brulee and the sorbets of prickly pear and honey kiwi. Suffice it to say both plates were completely cleaned. Worth the price for sure. Ambiance: Aqueous looks its best in the daylight where the floor to ceiling windows offer complete views of the Shepherds Rock and Mystic Rock golf courses at the resort. The interior of the restaurant matches the rest of Falling Rock hotel's modern, Frank Lloyd Wright inspired architecture with geometric patterns and soft earth tones. Food: The Amish milk bread is amazing! Typical of a fine dining restaurant but atypical of a steakhouse, dinner at Aqueous begins with an amuse bouche from the kitchen. The meat itself was delicious. I had the 8oz filet Mignon which was cooked to perfection (medium as I had ordered it), was tender like butter, and paired well with my choice of Cabernet sauce. The sides were good, but par for the course - nothing memorable there. Drinks: The wine list at aqueous is what you'd expect at a steakhouse. Large selection of reds organized by country, with no super-premium bottles or vintages. WE enjoyed a bottle of Bourdeaux which was good but not very memorable - wish the sommelier had been available to help us make a better selection. Service: Service was disorganized. We seemed to have two waiters that would serve us randomly throughout the meal. I asked to see the sommelier to learn about a bottle of wine but instead one of our waiters came back with a blurb about the bottle that I could have learned from google. Besides the disorganization of the service, all of the other touches were there including clearing silverware between courses, folding napkins, etc. Value: Compared to restaurants in big cities, the value at Aqueous is fantastic. Absolutely delicious! Where to start? The staff was very attentive and pleasant. We had no fewer than three wait staff attending us. They were very knowledgeable of the menu and the specials. I had the black cod over pea risotto and hubby had the slow cooked braised short ribs over whipped potatoes. My fish was so delicious. It had a crisp to the skin, but the meat was moist and succulent and delicious. Every bite of the fish and risotto was a symphony of harmonious goodness.
