I've ate here several times over the years while visiting the area for biking, hiking, Falling Waters, Seven Springs, etc. It's a cute place, but a good majority of the time I have visited the food service was horrible. Sometimes it would take 30 minutes just to get waited on and sometimes another 30 minutes just to get your food. Yikes! I've had several different sandwiches and meals from here over the years and they were all pretty decent, but nothing ever made me say, WOW! Would I come here again? You know how people on Yelp make the claim "if I could give it a 0 I would" ? They should come here. This was probably the worst experience I have had in 2022. We stopped here while in the area on Memorial Day. The whole town was busy with tourists and people getting away- but this place truly was in over their heads. We came here for an advertised Bloody Mary that had a bunch of toppings etc on it. I bet you can't guess what happened. First and foremost there's a wing shack outside where people order and then an inside area bar where people order. Since I didn't see any mention of regular food, we went to the inside bar to order- where there were paper menus. After a long wait bc there was only one girl taking food orders while two other people behind the bar did little to nothing, there was a wait. We were then told the advertised Bloody Mary was only on certain days but the special one today had to be ordered at the wing shack outside but they sell out immediately. Ok? I ordered a steak sandwich with sweet potato fries, and a Sierra Mist. Why? They were out of Diet Pepsi. They were out of regular Pepsi. Then we were instructed to go up on the deck and simmer in the 90° shade and wait for our buzzer to buzz. As time passed, and people I saw order after us got their food over and over, I decided to ask just what in the world was the issue. The girl at the window said "you got a burger right?" No. "Oh then it should be out soon. Sorry." 40minutes. 40. Then I get my meal - and I probably could have scrounged up more steak at a vegan grocery store than what was on my bun. I'm sorry "artisan roll." At the very least the sweet potato fries were standard. I barely ate half and threw it away and decided I had enough fun there for a lifetime. $43 bill for 45min of pure suffering. How, as a business, are you that unprepared? No drinks, out of your special "immediately", refills are warm cans and not even what you ordered. Brutal. I probably wouldn't ever try this place again - but hope you have a better experience. read more

Came here for lunch on a gorgeous June Saturday Drinks - well made! We had a margarita and Bloody Mary and liked both! Marg was not to sweet. Good portions. And solid condiments on rye bloody. Service - super friendly. Laid back ambiance. Food- fresh ingredients. Portabella fríes were good but a little oily. The sandwich was fresh - a little dry but still tasty. Location - great decks. No dogs on the top but have plenty of other seating that does. Overall ambiance here is fantastic. Would def be back from some beverages on a nice day! Rating system: 5.0- obsessed. Wouldn't change a thing. Wish I lived here 4.0 - a must go place. Has its flaws but guaranteed to be enjoyable. 3.0- would go to again under specific circumstances but not my top choice 2.0 - wouldn't recommend and won't be back. 1.0 - something must have been terribly wrong for me to publicly review a business so harshly. read more

Came to Ohiopyle House Café after visiting Fallingwaters. It looked super busy, but there is plenty of seating. You can order wings at the shack, or food from the bar downstairs, or upstairs where you pick up the food. After ordering you are given a buzzer and pick it up at the window, so it's mostly all self serve with disposable everything. The bartenders downstairs did not seem to be a good mood that day, but we didn't have to interact with them after ordering. There is a pretty big beer list; we were able to order a couple ciders. We also ordered a gf veggie flatbread and veggie chili covered fries. The flatbread was delicious! It was hard to eat because it wasn't over cooked like so often can happen with gf pizzas & breads, so we loved that; but we needed flatware to eat it. Lots of sauce and veggies- we loved it. The fries and chili were pretty good. Picnic table style eating outside, but we had a good time there. read more

We were so happy that this little place was open despite Covid. We were looking forward to eating some great farm to table grub. There was a more limited menu than usual but it did not disappoint. This is my second time here and the first was much better! We won't be back.. got a turkey pesto sandwich should have came with Swiss it didn't, when I went back down the stairs to ask for cheese the cheese she brought out had "something" green on it so I sent it back the bartender then comes back with my cheese and says the kitchen staff is missing and she had to find the cheese herself!! My husband got brisket nachos there was a very large plate of chips and a TINY amount of meat! Not worth the money at all! And $5 for a small handful of Fries! The chicken bacon sandwich was sliced chicken, not at all what we were expecting! The yough fries were over cooked! But still good! I will say when we told the bar staff about all the issues the did refund a small portion of what we spent on a mediocre meal! I've been coming here for yearsssss and under the new ownership this place is amazing!! I went yesterday for lunch and the staff was all very friendly and the food was delicious!! We got wings, a wrap, fries and chicken nuggets and it was all so good! It came out fast as well. Plus they expanded the deck out and put a bar on the deck as well which seemed very cool! As aggravating as service can be at this restaurant more times than should be, I still have to keep coming back. Sitting on the covered deck and eating a lovely lunch is just so nice here. Most often I order the grilled cheese sandwich with mixed berries embedded and sometimes I get the sweet potato fries (and there are lots to share). Both are so tasty and their menu indicates they have farm-to-table foods. Also, I love the infused waters they offer. Best of all, the waters and sodas are offered up in huge mason glasses so you don't have to ask for refills quite as often. This visit the service was excellent. It's just a hit-or-miss thing with them having after having visited many times. It can be fast or extremely slow. read more

Stopped here on a beautiful Saturday and they were fairly busy. Sadly, the management had the staff set up to fail. We ate on the upstairs deck. The ordering system is odd (no wait staff). You have to wait on the stairs while the one poor girl taking orders struggles with putting food orders in the computer, telling people where the bath room is, and running downstairs to get drinks. She did a great job and a lesser employee would have just walked off. After ordering, we waited an hour. I had brisket nachos - ice cold and basically just tostitos with jalapenos, some unidentified meat shavings and cheese wiz on top (a portion that would fit in your cupped hands). GF had brussels - also ice cold and a burger. She liked the burger (strawberry/hot pepper sauce), but that was it... no sides.... a burger - $13. The bathrooms are up a very dark staircase, off an even darker landing. The bathrooms on a small plane are bigger and cleaner. In summary - it just wasn't very good. Thankful that Ohiopyle house was available to cater for our large group. The food itself was good, It's hard to totally compare to the menu since it was made in bulk for a large group. The food here is locally sourced, and homemade which is a nice touch. No dogs are allowed in the upstairs covered dining area. Full bar is in basement; beer available on covered dining area. Although I'm grateful they were the only restaurant that would agree to have food pre made after our rafting trip I must say that I wish it would have been more organized. When we arrived we didn't even have tables reserved for our group, and there was miscommunication as to when and where food would be ready. Food was good but like I mentioned anything in large portions usually isn't comparable to regular menu items. I also had to text several times to confirm they received my order for that day. We had a great lunch here today. We had just finished going zip lining with our three grandkids & we're looking for a place to have a relaxed lunch. This cafe filled the bill perfectly. I had a Reuben that was super! Juicy & flavorful & served as a melt. Yum! My husband had a BLT that he raved about. We both had cold beers. Our waitress was attentive & professional. Came here after camping and eating a bunch of delicious fungi with a smurf. Heidi, John (or was it Ron?) and Rob were immediately available and served up two farm-to-table burgers in record time for us. They accidentally gave me cheese on my impossible burger but Heidi's daughter is also allergic to cheese so John went and whipped me up a fresh one. We left very stuffed and feeling good. Had my phone received signal at the right time, we would not have gone to this place for lunch. The restaurant staff took 20 minutes to bring us water and take our order. We had to remind them in between that they didn't attend to us yet. We ordered tomato basil soup, eggplant sandwich and fried portabella mushroom. My friend ordered lemon lime infused water. Eggplant sandwich tasted good. It contained roasted (based on what I saw) eggplant, basil, cheese and grilled white bread. Tomatoe basil soup tasted like diluted marinara. Myself and my friend couldn't finish the soup. Coming to the fried mushrooms, it is a very oily dish. I couldn't taste anything except for bland fried dough flavor. I wouldn't go back to this place. We had an atrocious experience from start to finish. The woman who answered the phone to take my order appeared never to have operated the computer system before. I requested that my Popper Salad be prepared without quinoa as I'm allergic, and asked for the homemade blue cheese dressing to be served on the side. I reached home and opened the box, only to find it overflowing with quinoa, and with a dressing that would be better described as cheap mayonnaise that came straight out of a jar. To make matters worse the spinach was in a such a sorry state that to call it wilted would be paying it a compliment. And the kale had been forgotten entirely. So all that my 12 dollars bought me was a couple of avocado slices dipped in mayonnaise. I'm giving this place a 1 star review, but that's honestly 1 star more than it deserves. read more

BEWARE OF THIS RESTAURANT. I have never been treated so poorly in my life! I went here with my girlfriend to split some sandwiches and soup. We ordered our sandwich and got the tomato basil and the sweet potato chili. The soup came out in good time but the tomato basil was disgusting. It was like crushed marinara sauce with basil through it. The soup had no flavor and it was bitter. We both had a bite, decided we did not like it and asked the waitress if we could swap it out for another bowl of the chili. She took the soup from our table walked over the the manager. She explained to the manager why we did not like it and I overheard the manager say (from only a few feet away from our table) "What did they expect? Tomato soup from a can from Walmart?" After hearing that I was upset, but I did not say anything about it. Our sandwich came out eventually and it was good but the turkey was VERY dry and there was not enough sauce. We finished eating, I asked for our bill and that is where the problems began. The waitress said she had to charge us for the soup although we did not eat it. So we got charged for something we did not consume but just tasted. The waitress said there was nothing she could do so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came over a few minutes later and says "What seems to be the problem?" (That was a very passive aggressive remark because she knew exactly what was wrong.) I explained to the manager that we did not eat the soup and we simply did not like it. I said we were not rude when speaking to the waitress and we should not have to eat something we do not like. She then begins to argue with us about how much of the soup we actually ate! The manager apparently counted the croutons on top because she said we ate all of them (we both ate one each.) She did not apologize she argued with us instead. She then said there was nothing she could do to take it off the bill and no one was there to remove it so we had to pay for it. I refused to pay for it because I did not eat it. The manager eventually paid for the item and we paid for our food and left. I have never seen a manager of a restaurant be so rude to customers. I am a kind and easy going person but if something I am paying for is not good there should never be a problem. The chef of the restaurant spoke to us both and he was very sorry about everything. This place needs some serious work with their customer service or it will be closed by next summer. I wondered why there was only 4 tables eating on a beautiful summer day and I found out my answer quickly. I do not recommend going here. The food was alright but not worth the hassle of the people (manager) who work there. read more

This place has all the vibes to draw you in. "Locally sourced and farm to table" signage everywhere and great outdoor seating options. That's why I thought spending $11 on a burger might be a decent value. Oh man was I wrong. The $11 burger came with nothing but cheese. They charged me extra for pickles and when I asked if I could have a little more ketchup for my fries (they provided less than 1oz in a tiny cup), they said I would have to pay for it. In all, I bought two burgers (one for me and one for my wife), a french fry basket for us to split, and 2 cokes. Our total was $40 and the food was awful. And this was after riding our bikes for 50 miles through the cold rain so any food should have been delicious. I definitely recommend avoiding this place all together. read more

Probably the most ridiculous and embarrassing "restaurant" experience I've ever had. The two stars are for the fruit infused waters and the food itself and one because I feel bad. But the service here was abysmal. It took over 45 min to get our food to which the waiting staff said "we are obviously pretty busy." Not to mention two of the 4 dishes we ordered was wrong. One of the dishes was sent back because it simply was not the $4 side salad ordered but the $15 House Salad. My sister decided she would forgo the hassle (probably didn't want to wait another hour) and said she didn't want anything at all. To our surprise, the staff tried to still charge for the salad and when we spoke to the manager she said that it had to be paid for. That is the furthest thing from restaurant etiquette, especially when the food was untouched-- Quite frankly, it was borderline insanity to even expect that it would even be appropriate to charge $15 for something that was taken back to the kitchen because it was not what was ordered. The food was ok but certainly not worth the price or the insane wait or rude service. I would never recommend and certainly will never return read more

This is a cool little hole in the wall that is a fun place to great a beer. The sandwiches are pretty tasty and the meat is smoked on site which is obvious. I would like to see them add table service and not make you stand in line at a window though. They have a big porch where it would be easy enough and most people who have spent the day at Ohiopyle are pooped and don't want to have to wait in a line to get their food. read more

Summary * Great place for a drink - they have a nice selection of beer. * If your hungry, I'd recommend looking for another place. We sat in the cafe yard downstairs in the bar section (there is a "sit-down" restaurant upstairs). There were no waiting staff but we were kindly told this as we entered. Fortunately their lovely bartender was nice enough to come out and take our drink & food orders since we had a very large party. She was very friendly and brought the meals as they were prepared. The food was average - nothing special or noteable - but no complaints either. The fried items (tortillas, chicken, fries, etc.) were a little greasier than I prefer. The only good/acceptable thing about this place was their selection of beer. I really wish I had been able to read the Yelp reviews of this place before eating there, but unfortunately I had no cell service in Ohiopyle and no way to research anything... We checked out their posted menu but it was pretty different than the menus they handed us when we were seated. We ordered the fried green tomatoes appetizer and a basket of fries. I grew up eating fried green tomatoes, and these were the worst I've ever had. The breading was fine, but the tomatoes themselves were completely limp, grey, and mushy. None of us could stomach eating more after we saw what they looked like inside. Disgusting. The fries were unremarkable, but compared to the other food, they were good. We also ordered a "Whitewater" flatbread (for $10) that ended up being six slices of semi-cold pizza, complete with mushy tomatoes and the worst "basil" pesto I've ever had. Never before have I had pesto that I just couldn't eat, but theirs was chunky and seemed old, and weirdly mushroomy. We couldn't finish that, either, even though it was tiny for it's pricetag. Our friend ordered a chicken wrap that he couldn't finish either, because it was soggy with dressing and gross. We were of course very ready to leave by that point, but our waitress (and the other waitress that was working) disappeared for at least 20 minutes for no apparent reason. When she finally came back, she offered no explanation or apology and instead asked us if we wanted any boxes for our obviously cold and fly-ridden food (we were on the patio). A day in Ohiopyle brings back many great childhood memories, and although I live far from the area now, I was thrilled to spend a day in the area. After enjoying the town, my mother and I noticed a sign for "The Ohiopyle House Cafe." We happily walked up to the quaint restaurant, enjoyed the cafe's old photos as we patiently waited the 5-10 minutes to be recognized by the wait staff, and happily chose to sit on the porch for lunch. The restaurant was extremely slow for a Monday afternoon, which came to no surprise to us. Unfortunately, after 15 minutes of waiting and watching 2 waitresses ignore us, we became far less patient. It wasn't until we decided to leave that we heard one waitress yelling to the other that they just had 4 people walk out on them. As we were on our way to increasing that number, the waitress popped out of the kitchen and begged us to stay. I wanted to tell her that I was embarrassed for her... because that is the truth. The waitresses and the owner SHOULD be embarrassed. Ultimately, my mother and I walked 2 blocks away to The Firefly Grill and had a delightful lunch outside. read more

I liked this cafe a stone's throw walk from our parked car - location check. Beer - Wine selection- We did not order stuck to water but there seems to be a pretty broad selection to meet your needs. Food- eddy turn turkey with fried green tomato, honey mustard and bacon pretty yummy and sizeable for the price. Came with thick cut kettle potato chips. Also my friend had the pesto chicken breast sandwich it was yummy but on the smaller side if you're needing more food go with something else. Water service - well we got it in mason jars which was good because our waitress was not out much. That is my only complaint the service was slow-- I did not take issue with the food taking a while because it was pretty good and I was thankful for a river-rat styled menu over hamburgers and hot dogs. But.... if the waitresses wanted better tips they could come out and check on the patron a leeeetle more often. We had to get up and ask for our check or we would have never finished our afternoon hiking. That is all other than that this place is likeable. read more
