Neither of these two chemicals are safe for humans, pets, or plants, so we did what so many high-desert residents do: we went to Walmart to buy gallons of water every few days. It was consuming time, eating up gas, adding miles to the car, and drawing us into the dilemma of finding a way to recycle those empty plastic gallon jugs in a community that still has no efficient and convenient way to process them. Aside from that, we were suspicious of what chemicals were leaching into the water from those containers over the weeks and months that they sit in a warehouse waiting to be bought by consumers. When we went to Costco, we met a lady who suggested that we have a representative from Ecowater Systems, which is one of its approved vendors, come to our home to show its options for in-house delivery of clean, potable water. Gregory, the representative, came to our home a few days later and was right on time. He was polite, definitely not pushy, and gave us facts and figures to back up his company's claims. What we learned was that based solely on the the cost of an Ecowater system versus the cost of bottled water from Walmart, an Ecowater system would cost less than two-thirds of what we were spending on gallon jugs of water. When we factored in the additional expenses of gas and wear and tear on the car resulting from driving to and from the store, the cost was less than half of what we were paying to lug water to and from the car. Another factor in favor of Ecowater's system was that we would no longer have to spend two to three hours each week going to and from the store to buy water since an Ecowater system makes water instantly available through its own specially installed faucet. One of the things that made me hesitate to buy the system in spite of the economics, which were plainly in favor of doing so, was that I had been to friends' homes where a do-it-yourself water filtration system had been installed. All of them had a similar looking faucet, and when they turned it on, the water would trickle out so painfully slowly that I thought it would take the patience of Job to make a pitcher of iced tea. So I was very pleased to learn that the Ecowater system includes a large tank which is installed under the sink. Purified water, from which all the nasty chemicals have been removed, is stored in the tank, so when you turn on the special faucet, you can fill a glass as rapidly as you would with a regular kitchen faucet. When you are not drawing water from the tank, it refills itself automatically with pure water. I guess I am somewhat obsessive about not wasting time, and Ecowater's system passed my litmus test for acceptability with flying colors. I would recommend Ecowater's systems to anyone who is concerned about health, safety of the family's water supply, reducing costs, and increasing convenience. The company's product is well thought out, sold in an honest way and at a price that is an absolute bargain, and backed up by guarantees and service that are truly exceptional.
