    They accommodate kitties also!

It was very hard to find a therapy location that would accommodate cats. Aquatic Paws is the place! The staff are great( Nicole and Bill especially) and are patient. Don't be mislead that cats don't like water. Aquatic Paws introduces water slowly into the chamber, use life jackets and never allow the water to go above mid chest. Highly recommend for maintaining weight and arthritis.

We recently said goodbye to our 14 1/2 year old black lab, but we think going to Aquatic Paws helped her have a happy and healthy final 6 months! She was always happy to walk for treats and we noticed an improvement in her movement with a combination of hydrotherapy & acupuncture. Thank you for helping her mobility!

This summer weather in DC is just a tad torturous for my furry family! I was excited to check out Aquatic Paws in the Falls Church/ Merrifield area. They are located off Lee Hwy right behind the El Tio Mexican Restaurant. There's plenty of parking around the building. Entrance is behind the main building. They work by appointments only. This gives you an opportunity to customize your visit. In our case, we have 2 dogs so we had the place to ourselves. It was $60 for 45 minutes for both dogs. There is a heated 4 foot pool and a water treadmill. Lisa and staff guided us through our whole visit. Our Nellie is so fearful of water. We started her on the treadmill. She got some exercise and had a chance to experience water. Then she wanted to join her brother in the pool. They have safety vests for the dogs. We were also allowed to join the puppies in the pool. Alex our big dog loves the beach and big pools. He was hesitating with the water steps. They had high quality treats to help motivate our pups down the steps. It's so much fun to be in the water with the dogs. This is excellent for dogs who have recently gone through surgery or are less athletic. Water therapy is ideal for rehabilitation. After the water fun, there is a bath and shower area to clean off the chlorine. The area is also big enough for the pups to play on dry land. We will certainly be back with our furry family!

The owner talked about how the ticket only said wash and nails. I could leave the dog there for the rest of the day and they would do it but my dog hadn't really needed it. The owner went on to say that if I wanted to bring my dog back in 3-4 weeks, she would just do just the haircut. 4 weeks later, I set up an appointment for just a haircut, and confirmed it right then and there - just a haircut. Yes, they understood. I then confirmed again when I dropped the dog off. They understood. When I picked them up, they had done a full groom, which looked fine but wasn't what i asked for. The owner implied I had misunderstood, but wouldn't address that she had said I could come back for just a cut, and she would not answer questions about why her staff had agreed repeatedly to just a cut. She just kept saying she didn't understand the confusion, and I had to pay $150 because they had done a full groom. she wasn't even aware of how much they charged for a full groom at first. She discounted 20%. Her response to me saying I wouldn't be bringing her my business anymore was, "That's fine". This business is not registered with the BBB. I recommend you go elsewhere, but get everything in writing if you bring your animal here.

I called this practice and they immediately connected me with a vet to talk through her symptoms. They suggested I bring her in just to be safe. When I arrived, I was checked in right away and even offered a drink or snack. A doctor quickly came out to make sure nothing was urgent, and after about a 20-30 minute wait we did a full exam. The team was so patient and kind--consulting with each other, keeping me with my dog the whole time, and making sure she was comfortable throughout. Thankfully it ended up being full anal glands and some irritation. They took care of it and gave me guidance on meds (which I already had on hand). Checkout was the biggest surprise: only $205, which feels incredibly reasonable for Northern Virginia. The clinic was clean, organized, and calm, and it was obvious the pets there were genuinely cared for (even the ones in cones having a rough day). For a stressful night, this place made it a really good experience.

In 2019 I visited the store and ended up buying millet seeds for our family members. During that time in 2019 the place had 1 or 2 staff member who were obviously high school kids. The place didn't smell so good back then either. Today, is May 16th 2025 and the place has a help wanted sign on the door. The owner had the door locked and was sitting in his new (Well, new to me)Tesla Cybertruck. The owner was friendly enough, but the place looked ruin down and the lights were off. Shelves were all bare and supplies were in plastic boxes stacked in a corner. The place still had a very unpleasant odor and the birds and cat did not look happy or well. I could not see myself working there due to the horrible stink and sadness the place was giving off...call it the ambience if you will. The bird vitimin powder I wanted to aquire was not in stock. I felt as though the current owner of this property has fallen on hard times, yet the Tesla Cybertruck says otherwise. Nevertheless, I feel all the animals need to be given someone who can take better care of them. It is very obvious that this business is more than the current owner can handle.

Typically the service has been fine but we've had misunderstandings in the past as well as recent issue. I feel there's not always a clear understanding of the pricing. We've taken our 38lb doodle in the past which to us qualifies her as a medium size dog. We've ended up paying more for her without being told why up front. Don't advertise your prices by size of dog if you aren't going to charge that way. Additionally we just got our small 5lb dog a bath and trim which is face and Fanny (usually is feet face and Fanny at any other groomer). The photo I showed the groomer isn't what I ended up getting. His face was uneven. I called and they told me to bring him in the next day and they would fix it. When I arrived, the head groomer came out and said he'd fix it. 10-15 mins later he comes back, hands me the dog and says "You got a bath and trim not a full hair cut but I fixed it". I was taken back. 1) I obviously know the service I requested 2) the original groomer didn't give me what I asked for with the trim. 3) our dogs hair was unevenly cut which was validated by the woman at the front desk 4) it was just rude. We were talking about our dog's face hair only. Not his body which would have been a full haircut. His comment was just completely unprofessional and unnecessary. Customer service is important, or it should be. We like supporting small, local businesses but when people are rude like this it makes it difficult to want to do so. We've gotten better grooming from PetCo which is sad.
