Such great food and the owner is friendly. I actually came here to find the name of a soup we enjoyed there, but no menu is listed

Rock Reef Cafe - Pan fried trout with fries

Staying in Bicknell after visiting Capitol Reef National park and needed a place to eat dinner…read more This place had lots of positive reviews so this was our choice. Wow! Reviews didn't lie! It's located in Torrey- you can spot the gravel parking lot with lots of cars in front. In fact we actually didn't see the restaurant because there were 2 rows of cars parked in front-a good sign! The menu was varied- from pizza ( more about that later), steak, salads, sandwiches, trout, mexican food. Good selection of alcoholic drinks, beer and soft drinks and even ice cream floats. The meals came with a choice of salad or soup and choice of baked or mashed potato, fries or vegetables. I ordered the steak sandwich which was strips of steak with grilled vegetables -onions and peppers, cheese and a spread of guacamole. It was served on crusty ciabatta bread. I asked for no added salt on the steak and they graciously accommodated me. It was nicely seasoned and didn't need the extra salt. The meat was nice and tender. Hubby ordered the starter dish taco (2) and it had a large piece of battered fried fish. It was crispy and moist. It could be an entree! I saw other diners order the burger and it was thick and large. Another party ordered the large pizza- let me tell you it was huge-almost big as a lazy susan. It could easily feed four or more. And the price was so reasonable- $23 for the premium pizza and $22 for the others. Looking around, all the meals that came out were generously portioned. No wonder the place was full! In spite of the steady flow of customers, the staff was very friendly and helpful and came by to refill waters. We didn't have to wait too long for the food in spite of the busyness. For those wanting a good meal after a day in the park, come here!

We also had a root beer float but was rather small for being a large on the receipt. Interior was up to par as well as the service.

Guy Fieri has never done me wrong, so we booked a trip over after settling into our hotel for the evening. We decided to order online since we find pizza usually takes a little while to cook. Our estimated pick up was 30 minutes after order. When we stepped in, it wasn't that busy for a Monday April evening, with only two tables occupied. We were greeted by the cashier and told it wasn't quite ready yet. The order ended up taking 40 minutes total. One thing we immediately noticed was that the pricing in store didn't match pricing online. For example, the Bhinda Special Pizza Medium Size we ordered for $17.95 online was $21 in store, and the Garlic Naan was $4.50 online but $5.50 in store. I guess they have some updating to do. Bhinda Special Pizza, Medium ($17.95 online) - The pizza is pretty unique since it doesn't use a traditional pizza dough and instead is on a naan-like base. The edges of the naan are crisp, but the interior portion are unfortunately dry and tough. It's oblong in shape and completely flat, unable to bubble up due to the toppings. The crust is honestly not very good. It's very floppy, dense and tough. While advertised as being a 12" pizza, I measured it at only around 11" by 10". The naan is first spread with a base sauce that gives off a tiny bit of heat, amplified by the fresh jalapenos placed on top. I don't eat too much Indian food so I can't really begin to describe the spice mix or the sauce used in lieu of tomato sauce. The flavors are layered pretty well though. They are quite generous with the toppings, although they don't overload the pizza so it's not soggy at all. There's chicken that's tandoori-style with pink edges, plenty of fatty mozzarella, garlic and ginger to add more flavor, then a variety of different vegetables, including cauliflower, mushrooms, and onion. (2/5) Garlic Naan ($4.50 online) - This is a really thin naan and is very tough in texture. There are crackly and bubbly bits, which look nice but doesn't make the texture any better. The naan is covered with a cilantro garlic mix that's quite sweet. It's about 14 or 15 inches in diameter, so it's probably equivalent to a large pizza in size. There's a bit of a smoky flavor. (2/5) Overall I found the naan from Curry Pizza to be subpar. Unfortunately they use it as a base for the pizza, making it tough and dense. It's a bad sign when I contemplate eating instant ramen over the food I ordered. I would not visit again. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

They have online ordering which made it really easy for quick and fast pick up. I ordered the tikka masala pizza and a small was enough for a couple meals. I like that its thin crust but the flavor I was expecting just wasn't there. I thought there was going to be som spice with the jalapeños but again, lacking. It was nice to have an option for pizza since I was staying in Torrey and it was slim pickings with restaurants but in the end, the pizza fell flat.

My room was meticulously clean, and keeping in the western theme, well appointed. I wanted for nothing. Except for a peaceful night's rest. That I got. My room was quiet and the bed comfortable. Though the building was full, every room occupied, I didn't hear a sound from my neighbors. Either there's excellent insulation, or the adjacent rooms housed church mice. Not a squeak was heard. A hearty breakfast awaits after you're finished with your dreams. Take advantage of it. It'll provide the energy you'll need for the days adventures. Broken Spur will be a pleasant memory. Allow yourself this opportunity make it so. Quick Tip: I've never had a bad meal in their restaurant. Even the locals stop in. It may be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

The brisket was around average in quality and the flavor was heavily reliant on the BBQ sauce (although that was quite good). It also came with veggies and potatoes on the side. The sirloin steak was also average in quality - nothing special to note. We asked for medium rare, but it was cooked more to a medium. The prices were fair considering the limited options in the area and the type of meat. The restaurant is connected to an inn and it is decorated in an old-timey western style, which I liked. The staff are friendly, although the service speed could have been a bit faster. Overall, while the quality of food was fairly average, I still enjoyed my experience, and given the limited options in Torrey (especially later at night), Broken Spur is still a solid choice.
