I took my 4 year old daughter for a "free swim eval," and she was taken under water 3 times. By the…read morefourth time, she was visibly upset. She told them she didn't want to go under water, and they picked her up and forced her to go under again. She came up crying uncontrollably, and I went to comfort her. I was told parents were not allowed in the swim area. I told the instructor I came to comfort her, and he repeated I wasn't allowed in that area. I picked up my daughter and left the area. She never wants to go back. I was hoping for a fun swim experience, and we got the opposite!! I'm so angry!!

From day one, the entire staff made us feel so welcomed and supported. Coach Sam is truly a gem Remmi looks forward to every single lesson and lights up when she sees him. He's patient, fun, and knows exactly how to make little ones feel confident in the water. A special shoutout to Kiela, the manager, who goes above and beyond to make every family feel cared for. Her kindness and warmth are felt the moment you walk through the door. Aqua-Tots has created such a safe, encouraging, and joyful environment for kids to learn and thrive. We couldn't be happier with our experience and are so grateful for the amazing team helping Remmi take her first strokes she's learning to swim and loving every minute of it!

So happy to have chosen Emler for swim classes for our daughter! All of the staff (front desk,…read moremanager instructors) are super kind and helpful. I also really like that the manager is on the pool deck during classes and actively watching/engaging with the instructors. Our daughter recently started a parent-involved class and the instructor is super kind and customizes each activity depending on the kid's experience level. There's a ton of class times to choose from, a great growing space for parents & the faculty is clean (and best of all indoor). Highly recommend if you're looking for a swim school for your kiddo!

Completely let down by this swim school and would give them 0 stars if I could. My daughter has…read morebeen taking swim lessons here weekly for 8 months and has hardly gained any skills. As a former competitive swimmer and swim coach for adults I should have known to cancel our lessons earlier but I continued to try to stay positive and hopeful. There is a lot of instructor turn over so they never remembered what my daughter's skill level was and asked us every lesson to fill them in. Despite asking weekly if she could move up to the next class level once she got to the required breath holding time we were told she wasn't ready. So for 8 months she was stuck in 1A as a two year old surrounded by infants. Age wise she should have been in 1B. Truly think she should have been in the other class to have older children to emulate and goals that were more age appropriate. We will be finding a new swim school that can actually teach her how to float on her own and help us feel safe with her in the pool.

Traumatizing to say the least!…read more Took our 3 year old for her first swimming class and we were so excited. First thing they did was dunk her all the way in the water and she, of course, swallowed a lot of water and cried so hard. It took a while for another adult to come and "comfort her" which they really didn't offer true comfort. She was still crying and within the next two minutes it was her turn again and she screamed "nooo" and was kicking and screaming and the instructor dunked her all the way into the water AGAIN with her mouth wide open. Nothing short of torture! I quickly got up to take her out of the class. As a trauma informed practitioner, I know the importance of respecting people's "no's" and going at the pace of the child's body. My daughter was not ready to do that again and I was told over the phone that if she wasn't ready, they would practice only getting her chin in the water, and then the next round her nose and then her eyes, etc. that was not the case at all. When I took her out, one of the instructors said "she was doing great". I don't know in what world a terrified toddler whose agency just got taken away is considered doing "great" but I have never seen my daughter in more distress in my life. I am so glad I was brave enough to listen to my mom instinct and take her out of the class. I learned how to swim without the torture of drowning. This was not ok. I feel terrible about ever bringing my daughter to experience this. Absolutely terrible. I couldn't sleep last night and every time I replay it in my head, my heart hurts. What I would recommend doing instead is actually building a relationship of trust and respect with each child and going at their pace. I understand it's a short amount of time but the "cry it out" type of system in place is embarrassingly outdated and harmful.

I was taking my daughter to this location over the summer and into the beginning of the school…read moreyear. During this time, she had multiple instructors with whom she adjusted to each time. I initially came here because I won a 3 month pass/membership in an auction at her school. This auction winning would entitle her to receive lessons for 3 months (I was also required to pay a sign-up fee aside from the pass I paid for in the auction). When I started scheduling my daughter with the 3 month pass, there were numerous issues with front-desk staff. I was given a plethora of inaccurate information from various staff members on how the 3 month pass/membership would work. Aside from these miscommunications, my daughter recently had an upper respiratory infection (which is highly contagious) and because of this, I canceled her last swim lesson for 08/28/2019 with the intent to reschedule once she was in better health. I was told at that time when I phoned to cancel said lesson by the employee who answered the phone that my daughter would be allowed to make-up the last class on the 3 month membership as it was not a 'no show' lesson. *Most folks know that an upper respiratory infection (especially in young children) can last for weeks and swimming, dental work etc. should be avoided until the infection subsides. Approximately three weeks later (which is almost standard recoup time for an infection such as the one she had), on 09/18/2019, I called and left a voice message to advise that my daughter is now able to swim as she is free from aliments --- in an attempt to schedule her last lesson of the 3 months I paid for. I did not get a call back, accordingly I called back today, 09/19/2019 to schedule her swim lesson and I was advised that because my daughter "is not on active plan", I would have to sign her up again and pay the sign-up fees I initially paid etc. and she would not be permitted to have her last lesson as it was too long ago from her last session. As a consumer, it is my stance that if someone pays for a service they are entitled to it. In this case, I paid for the lessons my daughter was to have but am being denied what I paid for because of an ailment. In addition, to pay a fee I already paid (the sign-up fee), which is to be good for one year again is preposterous. While I had every intent to sign my daughter up for regular lessons at the conclusion of the 3 month sessions, unfortunately I will have to take my business elsewhere. Buyer beware!

The Lakeway location is the first franchise location in Central Texas, having opened in 2017 which is when I joined. The BBC founders started franchising their business in 2015 and I am greatly impressed that they continually improve upon their business model. They now have a mobile app which let's you sign up for camp times, track your attendance, or watch on demand videos of workouts. So why does BBC deserve 5 stars? *Strength and conditioning protocols VARY daily. Periodically, fun challenges throughout the year shake things up. Camps are 45 minutes long and 5-10 minutes at the beginning and end of the camps are spent on warming up or winding down with stretches. *FLOATING FLOOR! I am now in the latter half of my 50's and my joints greatly appreciate the shock absorbing qualities of the floating floor. *You'll find folks at ALL levels of fitness and ages who encourage each other with a smile and a high five. Although women make up the majority of camps, men are welcome at any camp. The workouts are not "frilly," you will be challenged. But, every movement can be modded down to accommodate your fitness level or if you have some specific limitation. *FREE CHILDCARE is included as well as FOCUS MEETINGS with certified trainers who will help you with your fitness goals, nutritionally and physically. *UNIVERSAL membership means you can visit the other 350+ (and growing) franchise locations around the US for FREE! You won't miss out on workouts when on vacation or visiting family and friends. *The Lakeway community, meaning members, trainers, Burn ambassadors/staff and business owners, is incredibly SUPPORTIVE. Several trainers as well as the current owners are former members who are invested in Burn and this community. Any cons? They are closed on Sundays but a day of rest is good if you are the type to compulsively work out everyday. Lots of attention from the trainer if there's light attendance at the camp. ;) Cost is about on par with other boutique type of gyms and much less than CrossFit. However, special promotions happen occasionally and built-in childcare and focus meetings really make it a better value over other gyms. I'm in better shape than my 20's, I'm stronger than I've ever been which is great for bones at my age, and I love being part of this great community. Last words, take advantage of their free 1-week trial. You won't regret it.
