We could not possibly be more pleased with her professionalism, attention to detail, personal touch, and overall cheerful demeanor. Every step of the process was stress-free, and Elissa even went above and beyond on several occasions by mailing us chocolate (always a plus), and helping us get an idea of what to expect from other parts of the wedding planning process completely unrelated to photography. Beyond her incredible diligence (all of our wedding photos were edited and posted online before we returned from our honeymoon), Elissa is also a very talented photographer who is very light on her feet. For the most part, we hardly noticed her presence (with the exception of some great, and amusing direction during the crazy family formal shots), but the photos indicate that she has a way of being everywhere at once! My mother-in-law actually expressed concern on the wedding day that she thought the entire ceremony had only been photographed from behind my wife, such that there would be no photos of her face during a very emotional event. When I saw that there were in fact gorgeous, artful and intimate photos from just about every angle--I was relieved and elated that my MOL's worries were proven to be baseless (aren't they always? haha). Elissa clearly takes great joy, and great pride in her work. I have no doubt that whatever you hire her to shoot, you will be blown away by the results.

We hired Melanie for our April wedding. We made an absolutely great decision there…read more We first met Melanie to do our engagement photos at the Blanton, those obviously turned out stunning, as she was able to get both of us to open up a little bit and get some good shots of us. Highly recommend doing an engagement session first, the chance to work with her twice was so awesome! Emails with her were always responded to in a very timely manner, and she was very helpful with any questions I had, so great to work with. She and her assistant James showed up and were ready to go on time, kept our day running smoothly through all the photos we wanted taken and they got so many shots of things that I didn't even think of! Finishing off the night with a gorgeous nighttime shot! Their personalities shone throughout the day, everyone was talking about how amazing and fun our photographers were. This was the first time that Melanie had worked with James, but you could not tell in the least, the two worked so well together and then the way they worked with the guests...I can't compliment them enough! As for the final product, it was beyond compare. Somehow she made it seem like when I scroll through the pictures of the day that I am just walking through memories of that day. It's so amazing, I truly am unable to pick my favorite pictures from the day, because they're all beautiful. I'm so glad that we hired her for our day, she made it truly great the day of and then the gift that keeps on giving, the memories she gave me are a true treasure. Hire Melanie anytime you want something important photographed, or you know just because you need pictures and want someone amazing to do it!

TEN GLITTERY STARS!…read more She-N-He are great. We found them at a "wedding extravaganza" convention in 2009. Most of the photography booths were hard to tell apart, and it seemed like theirs was the only one with a definite /style/. I didn't interact with "he" much, but "she" was awesome. Melanie and a helper photographed our wedding. They were friendly, relaxed, and totally flexible - there was no rigid list of shots to get, and they did some fun stuff working with the location. If you hire them, your wedding photos will look like a dream sequence in a slick modern magazine. That's probably because she's also a magazine photographer... http://www.melaniegrizzel.com/Grizzel_Portfolio.html Of the things that my husband and I paid for, the photography was a big ticket item. Before we started shopping for anything, we made a priority list (food, clothes, photo, venue, etc) and decided that even if everything went wrong, if it rained, and the cake fell over, and my dress was torn, and our friends had a brawl by the keg, it would all be okay if we had amazing photos. Because memories are strong, but photos can repaint your memories in better light. Luckily the day was perfect, but the gorgeous pictures help me remember it even more fondly :)

Amazing Experience with Our Newborn Photographer!…read more As first-time parents, we were a bundle of nerves during baby Gabrielle's one-month milestone photoshoot. However, our worries vanished the moment photographer extraordinaire, Ms. Alison, stepped in. She was incredibly professional, courteous and worked tirelessly to ensure each capture showcased our little one's charm. Her photos exceeded all expectations; we received not just beautiful pictures but precious keepsakes of baby's first moments that will forever be treasured. Alexa's calm demeanor put everyone at ease, transforming what could have been a stressful event into a delightfully memorable occasion. She demonstrated exceptional talent and expertise in capturing the essence and innocence of newborn babies which has led us to consider her as our family photographer for all future occasions! A truly heart-warming experience that deserves nothing less than five stars - highly recommend for your upcoming shoots, especially if you want to create lasting memories. She was accommodating to our schedule and kindly helped us plan for the day of the shoot. My daughter is by nature a bit shy, but Kat helped her relax and she really enjoyed the shoot. My daughter felt so very comfortable that Kat was able to capture some great smiles and even belly laughs which can be challenging with teens! The shoot was thoroughly enjoyable and Kat was enthusiastic and patient the entire time. Afterward, Kat must have worked all night because the very next morning I had a link to a gallery of 130 of the most gorgeous photos I have ever seen of my child. To sum it up - we are beyond thrilled with the pictures and the entire experience. Kat is an absolute master with the camera, and words cannot fully express my thanks to her for helping us build this memory. I will definitely call her again for photos and I wholeheartedly recommend her to all.

He's not cheap, but charges professionally for professional work. I work by the hour or gig, too; I understand charging what one is worth. Two things to note: His studio work is in a shared space (which works fine) rather than a permanent studio (lots of it is on location, of course), and he doesn't accept checks (and upcharges for credit cards). Can't say I blame him. That's easily handled by electronic payment such as Venmo or direct bank transfer, no muss, no fuss. I'll update this when the album cover's finished.

I searched through almost 90 websites of Austin photographers and eliminated all but three. Most were the same dull, stock poses and backgrounds that don't tell you anything about the person in the picture. Of the three whose portfolios I liked, one was VERY expensive, one didn't reply to my query for more than two weeks...and one was John Langford. John was very prompt in responding, answered all my questions, and -- most importantly -- GOT what I was looking for. We set up an appointment and it was fun and easy, not like my previous photo shoots. John has a great eye, makes good suggestions on poses and expressions, and I was super-thrilled with the results of our session. Everyone who's seen the pix has been impressed, because John truly captured my personality and sense of humor. These are the best promo shots I've ever had! And the bonus is that John is such a nice, funny guy, easy to talk with and very creative. You will NOT be disappointed in the pictures John does for you!
