I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by all aspects of my interactions with Aqua Heating and Air Conditioning.
Upon putting out a request on thumbtack, on a Saturday, I received a response from Bob Davis that he would be happy to pop by on Sunday for a free quote, and if a minor fix, tackle then.
Bob arrived promptly at the agreed to 10am. I have to admit - He's a funny character. Loud, Smiling, a bit Goofy, some off the wall humor - and 100% loves his profession, and from my perspective, is very good at it.
My initial request was for Bob to adjust the refrigerant levels on a new pool heat pump that I installed. Within 45 minutes he had completed.. all while sharing some stories of working on heat pumps during his time in the Air Force.
As we were completing, I mentioned that I have 3 AC systems that I'd like to do a preventative maintenance check up on - and he quickly offered to walk the property and do a quick eval - and shared what his nominal cost would be.
Bob noticed one of my systems fan motor was leaking oil and had burn marks, a sign that the motor was failing, and that the electrical contacts also appeared to be burnt - he took a photo and offered to send me a quote that evening.
As we went to my furnace closet, he mentioned he smelled natural gas - something that I had not myself noticed - and he suggested that I call a plumber and we shut off the gas inputs.
That same evening, I received a quote by text message, and through a few back and forths where i asked questions and received detailed answers, I quickly asked Bob to put me on his schedule.
On the morning where he was coming, Bob texted and asked if I had taken care of the natural gas issue - I had not. He offered to bring his natural gas leak detector and see if he can still detect the leak location. No charge. I really appreciated him remembering. Sure enough he did find a leak, and I called a plumber to come repair it while Bob was there.
During the remaining service, Bob and his helper Cody, completely cleaned out all of the AC condensers, including removing all debris, washing and applying condenser cleaning fluid and even sent me before / after photos - some of the befores were very yuk... and after looked almost new.
I had a chance to spend some time with Bob and Cody while they worked; during this I personally noticed that they took extra care to
* clean up poor wiring that had been done in the past, such as too long cables, poor routing and unprotected shielding
* replaced missing wire ties and sheet metal screws
* adjusted my start kit that was in the improper orientation - causing it to be non-functional
* replaced a start kit that was rated for a 3.5 to 5 ton unit, despite mine being only a 2 ton - this would have shorted out the motor - luckily the start kit wasn't working anyway
* Replaced capacitors that were reading out of spec
* spray painted the AC grill that was severely rusted
* replaced the failed fan motor
* Added surge suppressors to all AC equipment (Actually added one for my pool equipment too, after we noticed it was not protected.
I was amazed by how much quieter the systems ran after the cleaning - Bob said that's pretty normal when the systems were as dirty as mine were.
Bob and Cody held to their original quote, despite all of the extra work they did as part of their service. The only extras i had to pay for was for the extra surge suppressor and start kit - which i agreed to as they were working.
Overall, my experience with Aqua Heating and Cooling far exceeded my expectations and I certainly will use them again. read more
