Really cool place! Went here over the weekend, just before the dinner rush. We sat at a table right near the water, and our server was fantastic. The food was great. Definitely try their bar fries. Normally I'm not a fan of anything self-proclaimed as "best of"... but these are definitely close if they are not! I had the ahi tuna wrap with wasabi sauce. The wasabi kicked my butt (normally I can handle hot). My lady had the mussels and she said several times how good the sauce was. The cucumber margarita was excellent as well. Would definitely return. read more

Welcome back... The season of 2012 has started and is better than last year the menu has some new items and the dining room has been refinished. The, out door deck was still covered but all new high top tables cover the floor. The food preparation and presentation was perfect and the service spot on. Desert was nice as well. The one thing I would change is the music. Pop techno music in the background ... Really? Other than that..... Its going to be a great summer on the water in a restaurant this town has been yearning for! read more

Went here with my mother for a quick lunch before we hit the beach. Location was awesome! We were sat right on the back deck looking over the marina. As an appetizer we decided on the clams, my first time ever having them! I think I'm hooked now, and for lunch we ordered the shrimp BBQ wrap and the hot lobster roll. Everything was to our liking. Nice ambience, nice food and nice people! All in all a good time at aqua's. read more

The veggie burger needs seasoning. The texture was mush. The chef might do some research on a vegan recipe. Otherwise offer the Beyond Meat or Impossible brand burgers. read more

We gals wanted exterior seating and a water view. The service was terrific. The drinks were good and our salads were beautifully presented and a good size. We love the improved deck with the beefed up canvas and quality chairs. read more

Unless you are a boater or a local you might not know this place. It's a spot worth remembering. Located in a marina in Clinton it is casual dining with a great summer feel. While T-shirt's and shorts work here the menu is more than sufficient for the more demanding customer who might be looking for a more formal dining experience. We had both the clam and seafood chowder. Both were very good. The Caesar salad and the Mahi mahi seafood tacos were very good as well. Might have been better to have one more taco for an entree but it was well presented and the coleslaw very fresh. Service was very good. Place was packed but we were seated quickly and the food came out right on time. Great spot for a walk along the dock line after dinner. read more

Great Lunch! Stopped by here early Spring and the temperature was to cold to sit outdoors but the view was great and sat right on the water. Service was very good and waitress was very friendly. The menu selection is on the smaller side and entrees are a little pricey. All that being said, my burger was excellent and cooked just how I like it. I will definitely be back come the warmer weather. read more

Aqua - Great View! - Seafood Near Me - Clinton, Connecticut

After reading the reviews I see a small amount of people weren't totally happy with something they ordered. Well we dine out a lot and no restaurant is spot on with everything they serve all the time. But here you are guaranteed the best view on the shoreline , the friendliest and attentive staff you will ever meet and 9 times out of 10 a great dinner. Not a gamble but a win win. read more

Rocky's Aqua has exactly the vibe I want from a waterfront restaurant. It's not too pretentious, it has an outdoor bar with lots of fans (I hate the CT summer heat & humidity), the food is actually good, and it's not overpriced. Six-dollar draft beers, ten-ish dollar appetizers. Very reasonable for waterfront dining. And the service couldn't be friendlier. They could easily not try as hard and still get the same volume of customers due to their location, but they try hard anyway, which I like. There's too many shoreline restaurants that get by due to the fact that they have waterfront views, and they get very complacent with their business as a result. Rocky's Aqua is actually a really great dining experience, and different from the rest. I'll be back. read more

My fiance and I stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I was surprised it wasn't more busy, but it was late - after 2:00. We both ordered hot lobster rolls "The Richards" and mine came with coleslaw and he got onion rings (his fav). The rolls were great! Not too much butter and plenty of meat. Mine also had 2 1/2 claws which is the best meat. I loved the coleslaw; it had a light dressing and plenty of flavor. We also had the NE clam chowder. It was good, but I have had better. Drinks were reasonable. I paid $6 for a glass of Pinot Grigio and it was good wine. We enjoyed the relaxed setting. Got a table right on the marina side, so we had a perfect view of the boats coming and going. Lovely. read more

Food was good but you need to check your bill - we had to wait for a table and got a drink and paid for it at the bar. Then had another drink with our meals and my two friends ordered one more each which was never served to them and when the bill came not only were the drinks from the bar on the tab but also the two drinks that never came - they took it right off but I wonder how many people do not notice it. read more

Beautiful day on Sunday. Came here for drinks and lunch. Julia was our server. She was really nice and a great server. Clams and mussel apps we great and I had the shrimp tacos. They were fresh and tasted great. I liked the sauce it came with. The Fresh Tuna wrap was also wonderful. We have never had a bad time here. Good to see they were busy as well. A must try if you are looking for some fresh food down by the water! read more

We had a great lunch sitting by the water. This was our first visit to the Clinton location but our family has been to Rocky's in Cabarete. We will definitely be back. My wife had a burger and I had the bbq shrimp wrap with coleslaw. Both were prepared well and had a great flavor. read more

This was our first time dining here. I will preface this review by saying our waiter Bailey did a great job. We ordered the RI clam chowder which was just ok needed salt and more clam and a little overpowering with herbs. The pretzel app was good but nothing special. The ahi tuna app was ok but the cut and presentation was horrible. We also shared a Cobb salad that had big chunks of dry chicken, nothing diced nicely on top of bagged spring lettuce mix, overall wasn't appealing with very little dressing. We had the chipotle chicken wrap which was not seasoned at all and the chicken did not seem freshly grilled just like the salad and in the tacos. The chicken tacos which for some odd reason the chicken was not cut up in any way, it was a chicken breast cut in half laying on top of lettuce and a flour tortilla. I mean it looked bad and it was impossible to eat that way so I cut it up. Still rather bland and nothing special. The last thing was the shrimp tacos which were a bit better than the chicken but if your menu says blackened the shrimp should be blackened and they definitely weren't. I think it's a shame that this place has such an awesome location and they just rely on that, the bar and the regulars. There is no finesse in any of the food we ate. It's like they are not trying because they do a good business without having to, so they stick with mediocre. There is absolutely no reason I would come back or recommend this restaurant. read more

Honestly this place has gone down hill fast. Such a shame, because there aren't many restaurants on the water on the shoreline. Party of 4: We ordered the ahi tuna wrap as well as the ahi tuna entree. The quality of the tuna is the wrap is fit for fishing bait, not human consumption. We were told that it is indeed sourced from a different vendor. Obviously to cut costs, even though they charge $17 for the basic wrap. Nothing here is creative or tasty. Fries were old, calamari chewy, salad was a handful of greens pulled from the bag and tossed on a plate, $8 bowl of seafood chowder had no seafood in it. The ambiance in the dining room (off to the far right) is weird. Piles of chairs stacked to one side which makes for a weird vibe. Maybe the bar food - wings and burgers - might tempt you, but if you want a quality meal that's tasty and creative, don't go here! Don't waste your time or money. read more

The oysters were warm... the shrimp was dirty (which I had to send back)... the scallops were delish.

I have been to Rockys Aqua a number of times and always had good food and service so when my mother said she was going to hold my grandfathers 100th birthday there, I welcomed the idea. There was about 30th of us and we all had such a nice time. The food was super yummy, the staff was so friendly... Everything was wonderful. Loved finding this restaurant and fried oyster salad on the menu. It's amazing to me the lack of oysters in this area. Maybe it's because of all the industrial yuk that's all along the CT shoreline. I usually wait until I get back to South Carolina to have fresh fried oyster salads. Thank you, Rocky's Aqua for being within driving distance to New Haven. read more

I love this place! Location is great and people are really great. This summer, I have been there a number of times and the food is great one visit and okay the next. My rating is a 3.5 but I think it can be better all the time. Make it the best every time read more

Went with family 6 adults 2 children first time post COVID . . Listen... expect a crowded shoreline waterfront place to be noisy.. IT IS ! and that's life. I can say it was one of the few times I have dined out where everyone on the staff was enthusiastic and helpful. Expected to wait and we did but the stated wait time was accurate and we were given some type of key fob that buzzed. . despite a packed house the waiter/server was excellent. food arrived quickly starting with apps everyone happy. I liked the new england chowder . shrimp cocktail excellent ! they were out of some dinner items however everyone was satisfied with the remaining choices . I would call the portions average .the kitchen had no problem adjusting the menu for our grandchildren who are finicky. I cant say it was GREAT but can say it was very good compared to past visits. I think they are making a real effort here to step up on all levels. by the way the bathrooms WERE clean on this visit even with an overflowing crowd and that is important. BRAVO to Rocky and his staff on this visit . we will be back. everyone was happy and that's tough to do !! read more

We found this place over the summer, a little gem. Great views! The service has been great every time. The food is good... pub style food, but I have only had apps and sandwiches and have not yet tried their entrees. I didn't care for the fish sandwich but would recommend everything else. Also.. the soups have been consistently good. There were salt shakers on all of the tables for those who want saltier food, it's that easy. read more

The waitress was very nice and very polite the location is beautiful but that's where it all ends I ordered a salad and their grilled seafood plate in lemon butter and white wine when I received the salad it was warm not cool and crisp the main entre consisted of 2 scallops 3 shrimp just above the tiny size and a white fish I guess was scrod there was no butter or lemon flavor the fish was dry the shrimp was hard and the scallops were alright but no flavor about 14 string beans and 1 scoop of mashed potatoes lumpy and all this $12.00 for the salad and $28.00 for the entre .The place was not very busy so they can't blame it on that. read more

Went here for Fathers day, did not stay, I should have known that the place would be bad when walking in the door you are greated with beer cans and cigerette butts right in front off the door, then you walk into a wall of flies. The waitress put down some silverware with out even washing the table, asked nicely to please clean table and just got attitude. ended walking out. HORRIBLE. read more

It's a shame this restaurant has such prime real estate on the shoreline. The food is just mediocre and drinks are brutally weak, yet prices are pretty high for the area. Keep your money in your pocket and enjoy a six pack with water views elsewhere. After vacationing in Madison for the last three nights and having AWFUL dinner experiences the first two nights, Rocky's Aqua was a giant sigh of relief. The staff was very friendly and we were seated right away at a high top table along the beautiful waterfront. The 'outdoor' seating area was crowded but there was no shortage of good service. Our food came out quick and Kayla was outstanding despite covering the bar top and waiting several tables - she was so attentive. The mixed green salad and meatballs were fresh and delicious. Creme brulee was honestly the best we've ever had. Will definitely be back! read more

Very pleasant waitress has worked here for five years, since she was 16, and the varied menu made me hopeful. They thankfully took back the dreadful new drink called Beergarita (I know...) and I substituted a mojito. Alas, much too sweet and not sour at all. The worst seafood pasta diavolo imaginable (spicy but sour and burnt tasting, with stiff tasteless shrimp and mussels like bits of radial tires) for $28 put concrete shoes on this rating. Hope springs eternal and two delicious desserts (flourless chocolate cake and creme brûlée, both as good as I've ever had) gave this meal an improbable Hollywood ending. Stars for dessert and service but none for drinks and food. I hope your milage does vary! read more

I used to come here as a getaway to the shore, for the views, fresh air and good food. Not any more! We were sat in front of an open window to the marina at sunset. We received our drinks, put our orders in and enjoyed the view. Then arrived the party next to us which consisted of a frail old woman, her overbearing COW of a relative and two limp gentlemen whose passive aggressive nature I could barely stomach. They badgered the old woman into admitting it was cold and had the manager close the plastic shade to outside. Despite our protests and the OTHER table and their REPLACEMENT nothing was done. No staff offered us another table with a view and we paid the check and left after being chastised for wanting the window open. Why the hell would you bring Granny to a place that would make her cold?!? Never again!!!!! read more

The Aqua is difficult at best to review and be fair/fare. Maybe because the fare is only fair at best at almost any time of the year. Summer is the best time because alcohol is more readily consumed and you usually grab a table outside. A new addition takes you out of the full sun. It is pleasant and you hardly notice the food had been ordered 40 minutes ago or there is a PICKLE on your fried clam appetizer. The Aqua is clean and neat and the outside area very relaxing. It is the trade off for ultra slow service and usually cool to cold food. Four of us went there for New Year's Eve at the seven o'clock seating. There didn't appear to be any late diners left from the 5 o'clock seating and at the end of our seating only a few 9pm diners had arrived. We left a nearly emptly resturant at about 9:15 pm. There was no live music or even a dj. My daughter and I ordered a Caesar salad that tasted horrible. She left hers, I ate part of mine. As it turned out we ordered the exact same dinners. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and firm with a tasty sauce. Our prime rib dinners came and hers was half the size of mine, fatty, and overcooked. We had both ordered rare meat. My meat was fine. The mashed potatoes were room temp. and the string beans so hard you could not chew them. Dessert came and went with no enjoyment. There was no black zambuca {sic} for an after dinner drink. There was NO CREME BRULE at the second seating in the half full restaurant. How does that happen? It happens because the Aqua closes for the season at the end of that night and they do not want left over food to dispose of the next day. The flourless chocolate cake was not tasty according to my son-in-law. All in all, an evening with pleasant company but a marginal meal and that is being too generous. I also believe that one of meals on the preselected menu was no longer offered at the second seating. But I might be wrong about that detail. We sat in the outdoor area with plastic covered window openings rattling and blowing cold air. Anyone next to the window that was not fortified with alcohol was cold. There were portable heating units in that room to try to keep it comfortable. It was only partly successful considering the temps outside were very cold. We went to the Aqua because it was close to home. We expected an unremarkable meal with unremarkable service but it was terrible. That was the last meal I will have at Rocky's. There was just so much disappointment involved we couldn't even joke about it. read more

The raw bar was really good, but my entree was nothing special at all. I finished it because I was hungry, but I'd never order it again and I didn't enjoy it in the slightest. I got the smoked salmon sandwich and I'm not sure if it was the dill mustard sauce that I didn't like, the horseradish sauce or the combination of the two - but nothing tasted like it went together. Although I got spinach instead of fries/coleslaw and that was pretty good. My mom asked for the fresh mozzarella with tomato and basil but instead of in a salad she wanted it on flatbread like a sandwich. They gave her the flatbread dripping in oil from being grilled, and literally ten pieces of roasted garlic..what? Very odd. On top of the food being strange (I felt like none of their food/sauce combinations tasted right..), the service was sloooooow. There was only one other table that came in there after us, and it took us 35 minutes to get our food. I wouldn't come back. read more

The only thing that saves this place is it's location. That is what the '2" stars are for. The food is over priced typical "tourist fair". New England clam chowder very watery and the clams were rubbery (had to spit them out). The clams casino were super tiny and burned on top. The wings were also overlooked and tiny. The calamari was rubbery too....accompanied by a week red sauce. Drinks standard fare...price "okay", on the high side for wine. The waitstaff was nice. So if you want a pretty view but don't really care a out the food quality then this is the place. Check was over $100.00 for 2- people, won't go back to eat again, but maybe a beer. read more
