They sent back uncleaned clothes multiple times now. They basically just take the clothes, fold them nicely without cleaning and then return them back and charge a fortune. This is very dishonest. read more

DO NOT USE THIS DRY CLEANER! This is coming from a long time customer -- 50+ cleanings over many years. Why? First -- they have an email address all over their website - cleanerworld@aquacleaners.com - it bounces and is not in service. No one cares there anymore. Second -- they just ruined 2 dresses of significant value (possibly a third) and not only refused to do anything about it had the audacity to charge for the dry cleaning that resulted in the discoloring of two white dresses (worn only for a few hours and only once each!). See the attached pictures. One white dress discolored to a yellow/orangeish color and the other discolored to a greenish color. My Wife returned to the store twice after escalating and they offered absolutely no resolution. We are considering suing them in small claims as a result and getting these dresses tested at an independent dry cleaning lab to prove mishandling because it's simply what's right and wrong. Bouncing emails, ruining clothes, refusing to resolve anything, and charging for this nonsense at that. Search other recent reviews and you will see a common theme and a lack of caring at that. This place is almost twice as expensive as my usual green/environmentally friendly dry cleaner in Palo Alto. They charged $18 for each sweater and my usual dry cleaner in Palo Alto charges $9.99. One would think that the quality of product might be better for the price, but that was not the case in my situation. I will not be using them again. read more

This is a nice, convenient dry cleaning location. Clothes are clean, well pressed, and they give you some quality hangers. Only used them a couple of times in a pinch, but prices are really steep. I get operating costs are high, but ~$40 to dry clean a 2-pc suit is still giving me heartburn. read more

Edited to add that this place totally takes care of its customers. Since coming here, I have received invitations for two of their Customer Appreciation Days, which entitles you to 50% off your dry-cleaning (no limit!), along with refreshments and snacks. I think this is a really great idea, and it adds a nice sense of community with a nice, local store. read more

I started an account and appreciate the e-mail messages I receive to remind me that my clothes are clean and available for pick up. Aqua Cleaner is the best place in the bay area to take the clothes that you care about. I have trusted them with all my dress pants, suits, shirts, jeans, sweaters, jackets, etc. The service and quality is great and you can tell that they take great care when working with your clothes. Great dry cleaning, poor communication. The actual dry cleaning they did was great! Plus they are one of very few stores in the Bay area that uses CO2 dry cleaning, which avoid all the nasty chemicals used by other normal dry cleaners. However, the pricing transparency and communication was poor. They don't have any price lists posted anywhere in the store or online. When I asked for the price, they neglected to tell me that wool items have an extra charge of $2. Now $2 is not much to argue about, but I was very unhappy that they surprised me with some extra charges. I arranged for the free delivery, but they did not contact me for two days after the promised day. So I called them and they said they didn't know to deliver mine despite my receipt clearly being marked as a delivery. I really needed my cloths back, so I went and picked it up. Again, picking up dry cleaning is not a big deal, the problem was the very poor communication. I demanded to see their price list, and they eventually brought out a piece of paper. I have been coming to Aqua Cleaner for 6 years. Since the latest owner/Mgr. took over the service has dropped tremendously. Previously all orders were ready on time and when an order was ready an email was sent as a reminder. The straw that broke the camel's back is as follows: I came in after 5:00 on May 7 expecting my clothes, shirts to be ironed and 1 piece of dry cleaning, to be ready. I was told that the items were not ready. The first explanation was that the person that accepted the order did not put it as due on the 7th. When I insisted on getting everything back I noted that the tag on each item was marked as to be ready on 5/7. I pointed this out and was then told that there was a production problem. My problem was that we were leaving at 5:00 am on 5/8 on an extended vacation and needed the garments. I was not informed earlier in the day that my order would not be complete. This would have never happened with the previous owner. When I inquired as to what they would do I expected that they would immediately iron the shirts and deliver to the house. If that could not be done a credit could have been issued for the amount that would have been charged. Neither was offered. When I told the Mgr./owner that I would not he coming back to Aqua he laughed. Yes, he actually laughed. I am off to find a new non-chemical cleaners read more

I brought a 3 piece suit with a silk blouse, and the silk blouse ($98) was completely ruined, stained a greenish yellow all over. Two employees promised to reimburse me for a replacement blouse, and I was able to find a suitable replacement. I brought the receipt, and not only did they fail to put a credit on my account, they lost my receipt. The people who promised me a reimbursement are gone and the owner has no idea what I'm talking about. Terrible way to run a business. read more

They are nice and I like that they e-mail you when your stuff is ready. However, for $110 to clean a couple of mostly clean winter coats seemed a lot. And the worst part is that they came back with moths in the bag, which have now spread around the house. read more

Excellent. Very friendly staff. Extremely clean store. Convenient location. They will email you when your items are ready - and have free pick up and delivery. They will keep your credit card on file if you wish, and will simply charge your card when they are finished. That combined with green service - what more could you ask for? I've never had anything dry cleaned before, so I didn't really know what to expect when I brought my two dresses in. I was fairly happy with their services, my dresses came back feeling fresh and odor-free, plus they gave me a free lint roller for being a new customer, coincidentally something I needed, haha. From what I've researched their prices seem reasonable, and I like the fact that they use a green sort of dry cleaning that's a different from the average cleaners. I did noticed that some of the threads on the bow attachments on my vintage dress came very loose, which I thought was odd since I had just re-sewn them on before getting them cleaned and figured they'd be nice and secure. I assume this was the result of the mechanical action of the cleaning, so I won't put much blame on Aqua for it. The vintage paper tag on the inside being completely ripped/cut out however, still remains a mystery to me. No problems with the staff, super friendly and helpful, and I also love their email notification service, it's convenient knowing exactly when my items are ready. I brought my dresses in on a Thursday and was told I could pick them up Monday after 5, which was no problem for me. I've heard horror stories of clothing being stained or lost at the dry cleaners, so I just hope Aqua won't disappoint me in the future. read more

I have just tried Aqua Cleaner for the first time and have very mixed feelings about them. I have been dry cleaning my wife's silk blouses and my italian suits for over thirty years now, so I feel that I am an experienced customer. First, I told them that I was a brand new customer trying them for the first time. They did not explain anything to me, there was no crowd and no rush at that moment. I was asked for my email address and told to expect a message notifying me when my clothes were ready and how much it would cost. Right off the bat, I did not like not knowing how much they were going to charge me for my cleaning, before they got started. Obviously, after they clean it I want my clothes back and am stuck without a choice. The email was a nice touch, but they were a day late in completing my cleaning and the price was exorbitant more than I normally pay by a significant amount. When I replied to the email, asking why it was so much more expensive than any other cleaner than I had gone to, there was never any response. When I asked them in person they told me that they don't actually look at any incoming email. Not good. When I picked up my clothes I asked about CO2 cleaning and was told that my clothes were cleaned with water and detergent. I was shocked. I was about to pay them a small fortune and didn't even get my clothes dry cleaned. Aqua does not explain to first time customers that they use water and detergent and not an actual dry cleaning solution or CO2 to clean the clothes. We presumably take our clothes in to have them "Dry Cleaned" because it does not use water, water can shrink and damage fine or delicate clothes. If we wanted to use water, we could just use our washing machines on gentle cycle and with special gentle detergents, or for the super fine fabrics (like silk) you can put them in a laundry (net) bag and throw in a dry cleaning sheet for the dryer (follow the directions), eliminating the need to drive to the cleaners and pay them such an exorbitant amount, just to use water on our delicate fabrics. Is the Aqua cleaning process really safe? We don't know! (I have a PhD in engineering.) Just because they use water does not make it any safer than any other process because they use detergents that are unknown to us. If you care about the environment and care about not having toxic chemicals against your skin, or if you try to avoid breathing non-toxic vapors from your just cleaned clothing then you need to know what these "special" chemicals they are using that allow them to clean your clothes without shrinking them. At least, I want to know what they are before I decide to allow my family to come in contact with those chemicals. There are now alternatives that are CO2 based (the CO2 is harmless to humans and is captured and recycled in the sealed cleaning machines) that we can understand exactly what is being used and its impact on us. If you really want non-toxic cleaning then don't buy clothes that require dry cleaning. To call Aqua "safe" when we don't actually know what they are using is not smart, is it? No, its not. And I still smelled a slight chemical scent on my clothes when I got home, so its not like their "water" process is scent free, it isn't. If its not scent free, I wonder if its chemical free. Aqua claims right on their website that there process is certified, I would have liked the opportunity to have examined that certification, but since they did not tell me what they were doing to my clothes, I was denied the opportunity to check this claim on my own. I don't know if the person who gave me my clothes misspoke, and they did use CO2, but that is irrelevant, if she cannot tell me what was actually done to my clothes, accurately then its not a good service. If they did use CO2 then I'm still shocked because they smelled like a light chemical, I've used CO2 cleaning since it first appeared in this area and have never ever detected any scent from it at all, as is expected. Regardless of their effort to present themselves as a "green" cleaner, they need to do a whole lot better than this before we can trust that this new process is in fact better or even acceptable to us. read more

We are no longer Aqua Cleaners customers. We were charged approximately $177.25 for laundering 3 shirts. The receipt that came back with the clothes said "$12.60." We only caught the error by looking at our credit card statement! The owner of the store was very rude and blamed it on his "accountant." I don't care whether the accountant screwed up. Take responsibility and credit my credit card back immediately. Offer me something for my trouble! Instead, he said I had to wait for his accountant to issue a check. And, when he issued the check and put it in the mail (as opposed to delivering it immediately), it was short $6.30. I don't have time for this crap. I went with Aqua Cleaners because they deliver and are supposed to make life easier for me. In fact, I pay a premium for that... When I went in to ask him about the discrepancy, he blamed it on the "computers." Give me a break. read more

I've been a customer for about just over a year now -- they do a great job of cleaning your clothes. Everything comes back in great shape and lacks the smell of a traditional dry cleaners. Unfortunately, I'm not going back there. Due to a recent Groupon promotion, they are now swamped with business. Turn around times at Aqua use to be flexible and very customer friendly. This has all changed. I recently went in at 8:30 am on a Friday to have 7 men's dress shirts laundered/pressed (not a complicated order). The woman behind the counter said I could have them on Wednesday and any earlier would be a rush charge. My old cleaners in Palo Alto would have them ready by Monday 5 pm. Five production days to get your shirts done is WAY to long. Aqua needs to address this or they will loose other customers like myself. And for the men out there, make sure you take out the plastic wings in your dress shirts because they consistently forget to replace them or attach a bag with your old ones. read more

We have been using Aqua since they opened and am very happy with the service. I looked for years for a non-toxic place to have my dry clean-ables laundered, but there was no such thing. One non-toxic place used a patented process of injecting silicone through the fibers, which I only found out after researching their business permit with the state. I found all kinds of weird attempts at non-toxic alternatives to PERC. Aqua cleaners is the only place in the area that uses a safe process to clean your clothes. I am glad to pay a little extra not to be poisoned by my clothes. Their customer service is good. Only reason I took one star off is that we had a wool comforter damaged when cleaned, and were not told that there was a risk. Since it was fairly new and had never been washed before, they credited us for full replacement cost. We plan to continue using Aqua forever. read more

I've been coming here for the past 2 years and I'm glad I now have my go to dry cleaner. I stop by every 2 weeks or so to drop off my dress shirts and slacks. I've aways received great service and great results. I trust them with my high end shirts (Zegna & Brioni) that I want to keep clean and preserve for years. Also, I go to them to alter my suit pants, it's pretty convenient that I can do that when I'm either dropping off or picking up. read more

Just moved to the area from so cal. I did my research online to find a new cleaner...and went with aqua based on reviews. I am pleased. I opted not for free delivery - but next time I will. I had several jackets this time - casuals- $15.95 each. Not cheap, but the service is excellent. Love how they are on board with technology for organization. $2.85 for a laundered shirt. Here's a dry cleaner that the staff actually knows your name! I have been a customer since they opened up and they have never disappointed. I like the fact that they "register" the items you drop off by the label just in case. This sets me at ease since I have had items lost at other dry cleaners down the street. The staff goes beyond just doing their job. One night around 6:30 PM I was finishing up a meeting in the East Bay and remembered I HAD to pick up my dry cleaning before I went on a business trip the next day. I called in knowing I wouldn't make it in 30 minutes to see if by chance someone would still be there after hours. One of the staff actually met me in a parking lot off of Hwy 237 to deliver my clothes way after hours. Can you say that about your dry cleaner? read more

My heros! Aqua saved both my favorite pants from a pen stain and my favorite dress from a red-wine debacle. While their prices aren't cheap (are they ever in the Bay Area?), I would have spent more replacing what they saved. Also, I can better justify the expense knowing I'm helping or at least not hurting the environment. My one wish is that they had a printed price menu. Overall, I highly recommend their services. Wow!!! I've used them before but I blame myself for not paying attention to the itemized price since I bring in so much at one time. This time around I took notice because I brought much less items and the price was ridiculous!!! I know they are green but it's insane how much they charge for one item. A sweater costed me $18!! This is one of the new "green" dry cleaning places that have begun springing up. Instead of yucky dry cleaning chemicals, the cleaning is done with natural liquid CO2. Clothes smell fresh, colors stay brighter, clothes last longer. They get out spots and clothes come back looking GREAT!! It is more expensive than traditional/chemical dry cleaning but well worth the money, in my opinion, because there is no chemical residue or smell. These folks do a fabulous job and knew my husband and I by name after just a few visits - a nice personal touch. Have had them do silk, scarves, wool jackets, dressy pants etc. and have been happy with all. read more

As far as I am concerned, Aqua pulled off a "miracle" cleaning that ended up saving me big bucks. I happened to have a a lovely Hawaiian silk dress which was vintage from the 50's, and valuable. Only problem is, I had already had it drycleaned and it still smelled awful like vintage clothing and b.o. from the closet from which it was recovered. My trusty bulk dry cleaner tried running it a second time through their system and treated it with something that smelled like bubblegum scented febreeze. Yuck--it smelled worse than ever! So I called Aqua, and they said they could get the smell out--of vintage silk! And all the other cleaners I called could not guarantee anything, and were apprehensive about treating silk at all. So I took it in, ready to face the day when I was to get it back with the smell still intact--only to go and pick it up a few days later to find it smelling as fresh as the day it must have been made in the 50's. I was stunned, and very happy, and will go there again and gladly pay a little extra for their expert service and unique technology. We've always been delighted with the service, efficiency, friendliness and timely deliver and notification of order completion with the previous owners. However, the new management no longer sends emails regarding when something is ready. More importantly, I just brought an item in for alteration and was promised it would be ready within 3 days. I asked for home delivery, which seemed to be a slight problem for the person taking the order. Yesterday, three days later, no delivery. When I called they said the alternations weren't ready and I'd have to wait the weekend. We'll see if it will be delivered on Monday. Regardless, no email notice, missing a promised date, and having to call regarding the status is not the same customer service I've come to expect from Aqua Cleaners especially for the upscaled price for a green cleaners. read more
