I don't recommend this nail salon. I now have an infection in my big toe and on my thumb. I went back in there to let them know that I got an infection from their salon and they blamed me. They said it was in no way their fault that it had nothing to do with their services. Which is a blatant lie - there was actual puss coming out of my thumbnail where the skin and cuticle had been cut away. And a while line of puss along my toenail cuticle. I know my body and I've been getting regular mani pedis for decades (not here). I'm now on a 5 day three times a day antibiotic while on my summer vacation. I asked for a refund and was refused because she said "they are independent contractors and they don't want to give up their commission" They lean heavily on the fact that they speak little English and therefore think it gives them the right to play stupid. They're of course going to do anything to blame the customer vs owning up to a mistake. It's a shame because they are messing with people's health and spa infections can cause years of problems. I asked for the owners phone number and they refused to give it to me. They said I could leave my number, which I did, but I doubt they will call me to follow up. It was a packed salon so I lifted up my antibiotics to worn the current customers that I got an infection here and to not have them cut their cuticles. That's when I was kicked out and told to never come back. Again sad, this is bigger than wanting a refund - this is a public health issue. And for them to try and cover up and blame the customers that have had infections and issues is irresponsible. I caution you when going here. And if you do choose to then ask for fresh tools or bring your own. Do not let them cut your cuticles. Stay away from the paraffin foot/hand bath. Go for the basics. It's too bad because the foot and leg massage was heavenly. So think twice especially if your queasy when it comes to dealing with puss filled wounds. She scrubbed the top of my toes so hard that it broke the skin. I'm hoping the scrubber was disinfected, but I also will disinfect at home. WARNING - DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. I called in the morning to make an appointment because I had a number of things I needed to accomplish later in the day. I explained I wanted an appointment and was asked what time. I said 1pm and the attendant confirmed. I drove for 30 minutes and arrived just prior to 1pm. When I came in, I gave my name and said I was there for my 1pm appointment. There was stone cold silence and the workers all looked down. I was told it would be a few minutes and that I should have a seat. They placed me at a metal folding chair adjacent to the open door, which was very cold, since it was about 60 degrees. I asked if I could close the door and one of the attendants said yes. I sat for so long I thought they had forgotten me, so I stood up. They then had me move to one of the nail stations, the top of which was broken stone of some kind taped together. I sat there for a very long time and could see that as workers finished with customers, they did not move on to me, but instead moved to other customers - who apparently had also been waiting. No one said anything to me or acknowledged my presence or the delay. It was pretty clear that making appointments they could not keep was their standard way of doing business. They eventually moved me to yet another nail station, but there was still a delay and still no recognition or update as to when I would receive my manicure. They finally started my manicure a full 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment. The manicure was very quick - it was over in 20 minutes. Then I was stunned that they charged me $45! I have had spa manicures with hot wax and massage for that amount - but never for a 20-minute slash-dab effort. I came away feeling very badly used. They were dishonest when they made the appointment and did not so much as apologize or even acknowledge their deception and disrespect. My whole afternoon was disrupted by this salon. My first time here. The salon was dirty and I had poor service. My manicure nail station was very dirty. Dust, skin particles and old polish were everywhere (easy to clean with remover). The towel that was laid out for my hands was soiled, stained and dirty. My manicure was very rushed, total 18 minutes from start to nail drying. Massage was maybe 2 minutes for both hands. She was very rushed and didn't give my nails much attention. They were rushing people in and out as fast as they could. I won't return. read more

Called to make an appointment for a pedicure, Bebe was my pedicurist, she was very sweet and did an amazing job. Here is the down side, the mid-range pedicure was $48 after tip I'm $60 in. My friend only goes here for her acrylic fills, so she brought me. I have pretty short nails but I still asked for a French gel manicure. My nails were perfect. I went to San Diego and was in the ocean and sand a lot and they stayed on for three weeks with no chipping. I don't know why they were so different than any other manicure I've had but I highly recommend this place and I know understand why my friend only goes here. read more

Came here 2 weeks ago to get a gel full and absolutely loved Kelly. I always have a hard time finding someone who understands what I'm asking for and she did a fabulous job, shaping and cleaning up my cuticles. I walked in without an appointment and luckily was able to be seen in a timely manner. Their work is efficient, came back today for a pedicure and gel manicure and once again I left a happy costumer. Although this time I did make an appointment prior and I didn't wait more then 5 minutes from my scheduled time. It's clean and sanitary and the ladies are friendly. Prices are within reason as well. Dipped my fingers in hot, hot acetone to remove the gel polish. What was that? My fingers turned white where the acetone hit. They commented this was a new way to remove the gel. I'll start by saying this place is crazy expensive....price is comparable to the nicest salons in Beverly Hills. I don't like to leave negative reviews but I had a really terrible experience here. Girlfriend and I spent $200 yesterday for gel polish manicures and pedicures and my nails look embarrassing. The paint job on my fingers is extremely clumpy, the edges are not smooth, and there is a gap between the paint and the cuticles... it looks like a child did my manicure. Also the shape from the file job is asymmetrical. My big toe nail on one foot was cut at an angle and left that way after I asked for it to be fixed. The nail artists here need to take their time and pay attention to detail. Overall I'm super disappointed that I wasted $100 and my nails are stuck looking bad over the 4th of July holiday. read more

I had posted a review awhile back and was not crazy about going back however, my gf said they switched owners. I thought this place is so close to my house I will give them another chance. Well, it does appear that they have new owners however, the music is the same with the same "chant" playing over and over and over again. It's annoying as a customer and I am sure equally as bad for the employees that work at Aptos nails. The place seemed very sad. My nails were not even and the really disappointing part was that I paid good money to get them done. The clippers,etc did not appear to have been sterilized. Second time coming in, first time service was good enough, technicians seemed experienced. Unfortunately this time a man helped me at chair #4. If I had to guess I would definitely put money on the fact he's probably not been doing nails for more then a couple months and probably under someone else's license. Although he claims he's been doing them for several years it's obvious that's not true. No one would fill the tip of every nail and the bottom and still leave a huge dip in the middle, then he proceeded to file then forever and when it was all said and done they were way shorter, thicker and he didn't even clean underneath or clean them up around the sides, I have no problem with someone who's learning, but please be honest and if you can't do a good job, don't try to make me look stupid because of it! I admit I'm pretty picky and problem even a bit bitchy, but hey they want to charge top dollar then I expect quality service...And to the stuck up little brat sitting beside me. Your right! Just want to update my original post, by saying most of the employees seem to be experienced and do a great job, but you definitely need to know who those people are and request them. I didn't have an appointment, and arrived as a walk-in at 10:50am on a Tuesday morning for a pedicure/manicure. The manager/head woman said I could take seat # 3. Two hours later!!!! I waited so long, that my pedicure water turned cold, and had to be refilled. At NO POINT, was I told how long the wait would be. At one point, another client came in for a pedicure. She was told to take seat #1. Again, she was not told how long of a wait she would have. After her water turned cold, after waiting 20 minutes, she got up and left. The head woman was doing a manicure, and I overheard her telling her client, "oh some people are just impatient, and laughed at the woman as she left. I returned because they are one of few that have walk ins. Person doing my pedicure was so disengaged that she talked to a coworker and just held the hot rock against my calf and burnt my leg. She was so sloppy that my rolled up pants were soaked when I left to go to errands after. The other person who did my manicure did the worst job and I am really not picky. I have cuticle edges sticking out and the shape looks like a bad home job. This place feels like a factory and is not super clean. One star for parking and walks in. My 3rd time coming here. The guy did a terrible job. The polish is all over my cuticles and under my nails. He didn't let my nails stay under the UV light long enough so my nails are tacky and smudgy. Pools of polish on the sides and not enough polish in other spots. After having him try to fix them and making them worse, I just decided to say they're fine. Left there and went straight to another nail salon to have them redone. I wasted $40 on a fill!! UPDATE: Since Covid, they never have the same personnel. And they charge extra for Covid precautions, yet they never used the plastic shields when I would go in for a manicure. They would use the chairs that didn't have them. I don't get the impression that their manicurists are experienced. And the "supposed" manager has a serious attitude problem. My sister and I like to get dark shaded gels, but they put it on so thick, it looks so fake and clunky. We tried the gel powder, and that didn't go well either.
