It has been a bit since my last review and I wanted to do an update. I was less than impressed with my meal today. The sweet & sour chicken was dry and drenched in sauce. The egg roll was doughy and the fried rice was bland. The wonton soup tasted suspiciously fishy (it tasted like this one other time before and I figured it was a fluke thing). They also forgot to include a fortune cookie! I get multiple meals out of a lunch combo and saved the soup for dinner. The price for the combo and wonton soup came out to $13.00 cash- there is an extra 3% charge when using a card or tap. The staff were friendly both on the phone while ordering and picking up the order in person. The dining area looked clean. Today was a miss.

I was hungry and wanted a cheap, delicious meal so obviously I ended up at Apsara. I struggled to find something on the menu, not because nothing stood out to me but on the contrary, everything caught my attention. I ended up going with the a beef curry, chicken wings and fried rice all for about $9. The beef was really good with the veggies being very fresh and the curry was sweet and flavorful. The rice was also good, though it could use some more veggies. Lastly, the chicken wings were a bit dry and small but still crispy and tasty. My friend had the beef loc lac and enjoyed his meal. Our server was very attentive and efficient. The inside is clean, and there are plenty of large booths. Parking can be tough if it's busy since it's a shared small lot but there is a lot of free street parking available.

When your friend tells you they've never been to Apsara it makes lunch choices that much easier. I love that Hope St has so many great dining options - apsara is one of many but a stand out for sure in terms of deliciousness. Starter with shrimp nime chow and the lort appetizer - love a good dip dip! I really appreciate the amount of peanuts and sauce with the nime chow cause I tend to hog it but there was plentyyyyy for both of us. For my main I got the lunch special Hunan Chicken , egg roll and plain fried rice. This is potentially my fav plain fried rice. It's not CRUNCHY but has like a nice little texture from the frying part and it's flavorful. The chicken was tender and tasty. I wish the broccoli was steamed a bit more but otherwise it was perfect. We were told to pick an open table when we got there, no wait to sit. We were served quickly and the waitress was friendly. It's pretty straight forward. You're there for the food. I love that it's been around forever and still has that hole in the wall feel to it. I think the artwork has changed but not much and they have old menus with old prices and just a sharpie note telling you to add .25 or more to everything.

Seems to be family owned, not associated with the one on Public Street. The service was quick and attentive. Family friendly environment. BYOB. Tried the Chicken with Angel Hair. Similar to a Lo Mein. Delicious, seasoned with fresh garlic. Crispy Chicken Wings, not to be confused with the normal wings. These were flavorful and crisped to perfection. Fried Ravioli (fried dumpling) Chicken Nime Chow, a healthy alternative to an egg roll. Overall this is a place worth trying, if you live close order take out. Down fall is parking, it can be a little hard on a Friday night

Thai pad see-ew noodle

I ordered from Apsara Palace through DoorDash on a Thursday for lunch. The order was prepared quickly and delivered to me while it was still hot. The menu has a lot of Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese & Chinese Cuisine options. Since Pad see-ew is usually my go-to entree, I had the Thai pad see-ew noodle. It is Wide Flat Rice Noodle w/ Chinese Broccoli, Onion, Peapod, Carrot, and American Broccoli with a choice of protein. I had it with shrimp. This dish was packed with flavor and the portion was enough for 2 servings. Usually this noodles are more brown, but it looked a little orange to me. It could be different sauces. Either way, it was really good.

It had been several years since I ate Apsara's food. This was our takeout meal on Christmas Eve, and it was worth the drive in from the East Bay to pick it up! I forgot how delicious their Lo Mein is. My wife had the beef loc lok, which she loved, and moo shu. Our kid (13yo) who doesn't like anything other than chicken patties and pizza also really liked the chicken fingers (first time from a Chinese food restaurant that he ate them all). The only thing keeping it from a 5-star review is that my favorite Chinese food dish is fried dumplings, and Apsara uses the thin style dough. The flavors are great, but I just prefer the texture of the thicker dough.

Source: https://apsaraasianri.com The title of the dance only performed in the presence of  the king of Cambodia, at the royal palace. To dance the Aspara for the king the dancer must be considered most beautiful. The oriental food served at Aspara Asian Restaurant is not the same kind as one finds in most "chinese restaurants",  where it has been chained to suit american taste. Here we prepare some of the favorite dishes found in the homes of Cambodian, Thailand, Vietnam and China -unchanged. Having been to South East Asia myself - I can say their description is somewhat accurate. I do feel like the food served at the restaurant still caters to the American palate which has more sweet, fried and processed foods. My favorite things to get here are the Beef Teriyaki, spring rolls and the Eggplant in Satay Sauce. Unfortunately, I didn't get the Eggplant dish, but it's absolutely AMAAAAZING. It's sweet, spicy, roasted Eggplant with some char to it. I've ordered it dozens of times and never get tired of it. The staff are pleasant, the dining room is somewhat spacious, but the parking is tight because it is shared amongst a laundromat and nail salon. One pro tip is to always, always confirm your order before you leave. I've had missing items many times and it's such a bummer. They do refund your money when they make a mistake, but it's still disappointing. SE Asian food is one of my favorite cuisines, thus the critical review and 3 stars. I'll be coming back and you should too! -ODL Follow my IG: @AOEAT

I have been here so many times. Basically a regular. Their menu is expansive and their prices are great! I am rarely disappointed when I eat at this spot. Here is my recent order: 1) the Thai spring roll- come in 4 pieces and it's kind of hard to not eat more 2) the Cambodian spring roll- they are thinner than the Thai version but comes with 6 pieces- def a food starter! Super crispy and delish 3) pineapple fried rice- it's not overbearing with the flavors and is a great side dish. Some people eat it as a meal on its own but I think since it's light on flavor, adding 1 more item would help 4) the green curry- I think this one is just ok. And it's probably because I'm biased since nothing so far compares to my moms green curry lol 5) what I forgot to take a pic of for some odd reason is the "pad see ew" noodles with tofu- spicy! It's my go to and my favorite thing on the entire menu! You got to try it!

On web for Providence Hope Street--several pictures of what are called spring rolls. Be careful!

Here you definitely do. Everything looks and tastes like it was made in a home kitchen. Mostly because it is. The owners are husband and wife and absolutely adorable. The food is so fresh and cooked with love. I hate that expression but it's so appropriate for here. I will say there are a couple misses on the menu, particularly the Pad Thai. It's not particular good at all. Most everything else is delicious. My favorites are drunken noodle, mama noodle, coconut shrimp and veggie pineapple fried rice. The rice is a little bland but actually is really nice with the other strong flavors. Their chicken fingers are not at all what you would expect. They are basically chicken tenders you'd get off a kids menu but you know what? They're really good! If you want Thai food, I would easily recommend this place…read more We sat down to eat once and ordered takeout once. Both in-person and to-go/takeout services were good: friendly and pleasant. Ordered the papaya salad, drunken noodles, pad thai, and thai tea (with jelly) for two people. Everything tasted really good. We got the papaya salad spicy, and it was appropriately spicy for a Thai restaurant! The thai tea was sweet (as this drink often is), but had that tinge of bitterness that I like from good thai teas. Everything tasted great: well-seasoned, not too sweet/salty/oily. I would recommend everything we ordered. We had some leftovers to take home. On our takeout order, we got the pad thai, pad see eiw, and Thai fried rice. Everything was packaged nicely and was still hot when we got home. I thought the quality of the pad thai was the same quality as when we sat down to eat. I also like the flavors of it and appreciate that they didn't have a side cup of fish sauce to add. Good! You're the chef, you tell me how it should taste and I can judge afterwards. My judgement: It's really yummy pad thai, probably my favorite. Parking is easy if it's not too crowded; there are spots immediately behind the restaurant. 4 stars because I am very happy to be a repeat customer. This might be an unfair opinion, but I wished the portion size was a bit bigger (although, I would not want the quality to go down as a result).

The scallion pancakes weee perfectly crispy and flaky, and were really quite good. The papaya salad also had all the fine flavors. Everyone also enjoyed the dumplings. I think the pineapple fried rice could have been more fragrant and I was disappointed that the yellow curry wasn't as sweet, or as fragrant as I'm used to, but it was still really good stuff. But I'm glad the curry came with rice and that we didn't have to place extra orders there. Overall I'm really glad we settled on this Thai place - it was really quite good and the prices were very reasonable. They also made it very easy for us to pay by keeping separate tabs for each family. And it was nice they have a private parking lot as well so you don't have to park your car in the street. I definitely recommend this place. The place is well decorated, clean, and has a good amount of tables for various customers.

We checked in with the host on the first floor, but she escorted us to the second floor to be seated. I always liked that this restaurant seems to be a small house converted into a restaurant since it literally makes me feel at [someone's] home. We were given QR codes to scan for the menu; not my favorite. I overheard another table ask for paper menus, so it appears there is that option. For a starter, we ordered handmade lamb dumplings and for entrees, original meefen and lamb on dry land with a side of white rice. It all ended up coming out around the same time and the tables are a little small so it felt like an overwhelming amount of food, but it was actually the perfect amount for two people. The lamb dumplings were flavorful, albeit, the wrappers were a tad too soft. The original meefen was very tasty, especially the minced meat. However, the uden noodles don't do a great job of absorbing sauces, so it felt like a lot of the oils and flavor were left behind. The lamb on dry land was good, but it was difficult to eat especially two people. We didn't realize it would be meat on a stick, similar to a turkey leg but less meaty. We ended up eating the easy parts, but took the bone home to finish out of the public eye. The crispy potatoes on top were my friend's favorite. The total was about $50 which was fair. Our waiter and other staff members did an excellent job of getting us all we needed and clearing plates as we finished. Their official website is one of the coolest I have seen since it includes audio and images, but I wish it had a description of what each item is, just like their in restaurant menu QR code.
