They charged me $100+ fee to send a crew to diagnose a simple problem, and told me to expect a call to provide an estimate to schedule the work. The diagnostic fee doesn't reduce the cost of the repair. I never received that call. When I followed up months later they explained they wouldn't provide the service without charging me another diagnostic fee, because they hadn't kept track of what part I needed. So rather than pay twice I am choosing to find someone else to complete the repair, and leaving this one-star review to encourage you to go somewhere else as well. read more

I have a Maytag stove with a 10 year warranty. The baking element burned out. I bought through Cocca's appliances. They OWN the Appliance Man service. The part costs $50. That is covered by Maytag. The service guy comes out after waiting 2 weeks, says the stove needs a new element, doesn't have the part with him, that visit costs $160. I get a call from the Appliance Man saying the cost of putting it in will be $132. I refused the service since the video on Maytag's site says it's a 15 minute repair that can be done with no issues. I call back saying I just want the part. THE WOMAN WHO ANSWERED said she would give me the part number but not the part. After telling her I thought it was ridiculous for me to pay them $300 to fix my stove for a $50 part that was covered, I asked for the part number and she rudely said, no, I'm not giving you anything! HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU STAY FAR FROM THIS COMPANY AND COCCA's since I truly believe this 3 year warranty stuff is nothing but a scam! read more

No one wants to have to deal with the repair of an appliance, it's not fun, and often is costly. However, I'm glad we bought our appliances from Cocca's because the repairs that have been needed for our appliances by The Appliance Man have been done correctly each time. These people are first class idiots, from the person who answers the phone to the repair men they send out. My complaints reiterate others' complaints expounded on this list. Idiots. It took a week to send out a repair man to come out to fix a microwave. It started on October 4. After four unsuccessful attempted repairs, wrong parts ordered, wrong parts installed, replaced parts that weren't the problem, I finally persuaded my wife to buy another microwave. It ended on December 27, when a replacement microwave was installed. Confidence tricksters! These repair men have VERY limited know-how. The lady on the phone, Star, (that's her name), said it would take a week order the part. In reality, it takes a day or two to order and receive a part. What she meant to say is that it will take another week or two to schedule the service appointment. Thieves! They hit you with $100 just for walking in the door and telling you that you have to spend more money for parts. Now you're hooked. I ended up ordering a replacement microwave from Cocca's, a vendor which has always had exemplarily customer service. Unfortunately, Cocca's and Appliance Man seem to be joined at the hip. Duffuses! I had to provide good quality, metal, duct tape to the installer, Skip, because he didn't have any. The replacement microwave wasn't venting correctly. It wasn't pulling air up into the vent. I Placeed a paper towel/napkin below the vent. The suction power of the motor should pull the paper right against the screen; but it didn't. I had to remove the microwave to rip off a damper that blocked the exhaust chase. Sadly, if you buy from Cocca's you have consider your installation options other than Appliance Man. read more

I needed warranty work done to replace a garbage disposal. The Waste King company (Anaheim Manufacturing) told me to work through The Appliance Man and gave me their phone number and a work order number. Upon calling The Appliance Man, the female who answered the phone did not seem experienced in handling this type of call. However, after she checked with someone else, and I offered the work order number, she said they would call me back to set up an installation date when the replacement disposal arrived. After about 7-10 days, I received a call from The Appliance Man informing me that they would be receiving my disposal from California on Wednesday of that week and would like to install it on the following Monday. When I agreed, they informed me that I would receive a phone call on the Friday before the Monday installation giving me a 3 hour window of when to expect the serviceman to arrive. Sure enough, the call came on Friday saying that they would be at my house between 10 am and 1 pm Monday. At noon on Monday the serviceman called to say he would be there at 12:30. He showed up on time and did the removal and installation in approximately 45 minutes. My warranty covered both parts and labor so all I had to do was sign the paperwork. The serviceman, Patrick, was professional, pleasant and friendly. He did a good job and left the area as clean as he found it. I would consider using this company again if I had to decide for myself on a repair job. read more

Well, The Appliance Man returned today (with one repairman) who had virtually no information from the guy who had been here on Tuesday. Only one repairman today when they said they were sending 2 to take the machine apart. I had to call the office and ask for a supervisor because this guy said it wasn't leaking at all. The supervisor called the guy who had been here on Tuesday who gave the repairman today all the info and told him what cycle to run it on to replicate the leak. The repairman today was not happy about the other repairman's documentation and it was obvious there is little to no communication going on. I( don't think he was very happy in general either). I had to facilitate it or the guy today would have been happy to leave and say there was no leak at all. My husband said he would be happy to show him the bucket of water in the basement. The guy today also said they do need two people to take the machine apart and there is no explanation for why he showed up solo. Outcome: no repairs today because parts have to be ordered and they won't be ordered until Monday and it could take a couple days to a couple weeks to get them. Of course, they have no idea how long it will be. Hopefully, the next guy will be in a better mood and won't have to have the customer facilitate communication between The Appliance Men and the company. So very, very, very sorry that we are stuck with The Appliance Man. Lame, lame, lame. Did I say lame? read more

They eventually came and removed my old dishwasher and install the new one. After they removed the old dish washer, the guy opened up the new one and there was a giant dent in the front. I had to choose between installing the new dishwasher or being without a dishwasher for god knows how many weeks as they waited for a new one to come. Cocca's ended up upgrading my model and I eventually got the new one. What an ordeal. read more

Update -- and you will notice today's date is 8/22 -- in the 24 hours between my review and now, I have quite easily: 1. Obtained the needed part for $60 less than I was quoted by "Appliance Man" -- yes, a part clearly marked "Whirlpool Corporation Factory Certified Part", which "Appliance Man" evidently was unable to obtain in two weeks, and 2. Installed said part in about five minutes. I just wish I'd had the confidence to go with my initial diagnosis of the problem, which turned out to be correct, and saved myself the $99 + tax + hassle of dealing with "Appliance Man". There were issues. I suspect that the service you receive will depend on the service you require. In our case (a refrigerator just outside the warranty period, of course), there were two problems with the machine. Each time the ultimate repair required at least two visits - the first one to say, yep, you have a problem (duh) (and on the first visit you hand over a hundred bucks), and then a return with the necessary parts. You may have to wait awhile for that return, depending on whether the parts can be procured locally, or must be ordered from out of town. From the day our refrigerator stopped cooling until it was fixed twelve days elapsed. Not the end of western civilization, but it stinks. I never felt that they felt my urgency. So - bottom line - if you can find another place to fix your appliance pretty quickly (without blowing up your warranty, if it's still applicable), definitely worth checking it out (and finding out how quickly it can be done) before locking in with these guys. Not the worst, and far, far from the best, but let's be charitable and say . . . lots of room for improvement here. read more

Half the time when you try to call their phone is busy. Oven broke almost a month ago and when I called the first time they sent someone out only to confirm the glass on the door broke, even though I already told them this. Two weeks later I call to see when it will be repaired. They tell me they have no idea the part is on back order. I call the manufacturer and the manufacturer states part is in stock and they can overnight it. I call appliance man back and then they give me an appointment date a week later. The repair day comes, I leave work early, and the repair man calls me after my appointment time,to say he broke the glass on his truck. I call the store to reschedule the repair. Needed warranty work done so I was sent someone from this company. First guy came, ordered parts. Then waited roughly a month to hear anything from them. Kept telling me the parts were on backorder. Finally parts came in they sent a different guy to install them. He got to the house looked at the microwave and told me the other guy ordered wrong parts so he would have to order more parts. A month went by not hearing a word. I call frigidaire direct to ask if they could check into the situation. I was told that this company told them it was fixed and the claim was closed out. WOW!! I called a few times needing service on my washer. My first call the "manager" was to busy screaming and cursing in the background I hung up since my 2 year old was with me and I would rather not have my child screaming the F word since he repeats everything. I gave the benefit of the doubt that she was having a bad day and stopped by to schedule a visit big mistake. I recognized her voice right away she rudely gave me her name as Laurie and brushed me off and said she was going out to have a F***ing smoke and left me with someone else who told me they do not work on Samsung maybe you should advertise that? They have been fixing our microwave for 6 months now. They seem to be very unorganized and the people they send out are less than helpful.

This company is the absolute worst to deal with. They lack any significant customer service skills and do NOT care about any of their customers. After a month of trying to get ONE service call for a stove that is less than ONE YEAR OLD, they continue to try and schedule a service call during the working day hours and will not even try to accommodate a reasonable time frame of late afternoon. They will try and tell you that they can do later afternoon but every time that day comes, then move the appointment to morning or early afternoon. Cocco's Appliances should NOT contract with these people and should disclose to their customers that they CANNOT get any SERVICE done any time and are RESTRICTED to morning and early afternoon schedules... The reason the APPLIANCE MAN gives on the phone is they cannot schedule their technicians beyond the working day hours. Then WHY would anyone buy appliances they CANNOT get serviced unless they have to take time off of work to arrange. Unbelievable! I stopped in to get service on a range that wasnt holding temp when I got there I waited for the girl I believe her name was Star? She was on the phone I patiently waited as she was dealing with a problem Customer. She then asked Laurie to take the call so she could help me and wow did things get loud from there this Laurie lady (I'm really hoping shes not the supervisor) started screaming and cursing at the Customer on the phone and finally hanging up on them (holy unprofessional!) The owner Frank walked in and butted right in front of me and told Star to bump someone off the schedule to fit in someone he said was important. So does that mean I will be bumped at some point? I finally got to speak with star who started a service order when she found out my range was a Samsung she slammed her hands on the desk and said " We dont work on Samsung." I get not working on the brand but the attitude was unnecessary. I shouldn't have had to listen to Laurie screaming and cursing at someone either! I believe in allowing honest businesses and the professionals they employ to earn an honest living - we all have challenges that deserve empathy. That said, I have never in 25 years of home ownership, 4 different locations, experienced the chaos and ineptitude exp rien ed with Appliance Man. We paid installation fees for literally, an insertion of a plug into an outlet. The 1st installer refused to turn a water shut off knob and refused to remove a dishwasher from the cabinet. He insisted we needed a contractor to cut a wedge of our floor out. He disconnected the water, and left the wiring. We moved the FEET up on the dishwasher later and VOILA, slid right out...no contractor needed. The 2nd installer, returning to install the dishwasher after we performed really high level magic to remove the old one refused to attach wiring because he doesnt "identify with" a transfer box. Really? PROFESSIONAL INSTALLERS do not identify with work a licensed electrician performed to code. To top it off, he took the water hose with him because that is only allowed when installation is performed. I needed this man to get out of my house...he preached and told me a story about a faulty OVEN that caused a fire and said he will turn us in before he would see us make an illegal mistake. I am stunned, confused, and terrified these installers will come back. You just cant make this stuff up....beware of Appliance Man. read more

I needed warranty work done on a dehumidifier. I dropped the dehumidifier off on September 28. They say that they'll call with updates - they don't. They don't answer their phone and they don't return messages. At one point I was lucky enough to speak to a person who told me that the part would take 2-3 weeks. When I called a month later I was told that the part would take 43-4 weeks. I asked why I hadn't been given this information. The repairman apologized and said that he'd contact the manufacturer and would call me with an update in a couple of days. Big surprise - no call back. I called again and was told that the repairman had not been in all week and was not expected in until the following week. I called the manufacturer and complained. The manufacturer put me on hold and called the repairman AND SPOKE TO HIM. (The same guy that was not available to me just minutes earlier). If you have any other option I recommend that you pursue it. This is undeniably ONE OF THE WORST service providers that I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. AVOID AVOID AVOID. read more
