Overall: This escape room got a lot of awards for a good reason. I wouldn't definitely call this a traditional escape room, but as their description on their website, it's a mix of murder mystery, CSI, and escape room. This room is non-scary. The set design and details were mind blowing. It's very immersive and felt like I was in a real life video game. Experience: It looks like an unassuming space in an empty-ish plaza, but when you enter Appleseed Avenue, it's so beautifully decorated and felt like I was in a totally different location. The whole experience is 100 minutes and is not structured like your traditional escape room. It felt more akin to an interactive theater experience mixed with murder mystery. Our game master Matt, was amazing and also answered all our questions at the end. It's crazy to know how much time was spent into designing each piece of the experience. The story was entertaining and there were many puns and laughs along the way. I cannot wait for their other experiences when they release it! Price: It definitely is price - about $75 per person, but I would say it's so worth it for the experience. it is longer than your typical escape room since it's 100 minute experience, filled with interactivity and cool technology. Out of the dozen or so escape rooms I've done, Appleseed Avenue easily tops the list in terms of immersion and world building. The story is cleverly thought out, veering slightly away from the "escape" theme - but no spoilers! From the moment you start, there are no gaps in the puppet world they've created. You are fully immersed in Appleseed Avenue. The puppets are great and become part of the puzzle solving. Speaking of which, the puzzles are solid; nothing feels unfair and all the clues are more or less in plain sight. I was also hugely impressed by how they integrated technology to work seamlessly in the storytelling. It really makes the team aspect of the journey work smoothly. The clever writing, rich art direction, and thoughtful puzzle building make this a truly legendary escape room. Highly recommended for both novices and escape room veterans! read more

I've done about a dozen or so escape rooms, and this was easily one of my favorites due to the unique setup (think more of an interactive murder mystery than a traditional escape room), humor (it reminded me a bit of the musical Avenue Q. In a good way) , and overall production quality. One thing I really enjoyed was that we were split into two separate groups (detectives and medical examiners), so I think there would be a lot of "replay-ability" coming back and trying the other job. Tl;dr: This escape room is amazing with an mesmerizing set and friendly host. This is the most immersive escape room I have done in a long time. The last time I was so excited for an escape room was Hex Room in OC, california Production value: 10/10. The construction and attention to detail was simply delightful and brought a lot of joy starting from the wait room. Puzzle: 8/10 pretty standard puzzle that any experienced person would notice the usual clues. Really interesting unlocking system that I haven't seen in order rooms yet. Story: 10/10 very fluent story. Not a single prop seemed out of place and seemlessly worked with the puzzles. Also you're in a puppet world! That's just adorable. Replay value 9/10. I couldn't assist with the finale puzzle as I knew the answer, but other than that I felt I had a completely separate escape room experience being either detective or medical examiner Overall: I just love escape rooms and the suspension of disbelief. Appleseed Avenue is hands down my new favorite escape room! I happen to be a puppet enthusiast, so this room had a high likelihood of stealing my heart. Setting aside my love of puppets though, I thought the puzzles were well designed and I think the room did an especially great job of teaching you how to interface with it's puzzles. I especially appreciated how the room was designed to encourage and facilitate communication/collaboration. I loved all the characters in the room, the story line was exciting and coherent throughout, and best of all there were so many excellent comedic moments. The set was beautifully done and the props (puppets) were absolutely delightful and clearly made by a master! I think this room would be equally fun for someone who is new to escape rooms as it would be for someone who is a seasoned veteran.
