Want to start by saying that I have never written a negative review on Yelp. It's not something I take lightly, especially because my family has owned a small business for over 40 years. I truly understand how hard it is to run a business, which is why this review is difficult for me to write. Unfortunately, our experience with Smash Room RX has been extremely disappointing. I was planning an event for a group of 10 women and had several important questions before finalizing the booking. I called multiple times and sent emails in an effort to get clarification. I received only one brief response. Despite not having a complete understanding of how everything worked, I moved forward and put down a deposit in order to secure the date. After placing the deposit, I continued trying to reach someone for clarification, as several women in our group also had questions. At that point, my emails and phone calls went unanswered. While the website does state that they generally do not answer questions by phone or email, it also mentions that you can reach out with specific questions. Unfortunately, when I did exactly that, I received no response. In the end, we decided to forfeit our deposit rather than risk moving forward without clear communication. Losing the money feels like a better outcome than taking a chance on what has so far been a very unprofessional experience. She even threatened to cancel our appointment. Since we didn't want to disappoint our children, we didn't walk out ourselves. We should've! It was not enjoyable at all! Very expensive! I booked this place for a mini company event with me and my two other coworkers. Scheduling an appointment is really easy and done through the website. You have the option of adding extra items to your session if you would like, but the three of us found that we had more than enough items to smash. The business is located inside the atrium. We were a little confused when we first walked in, but luckily there was signage to lead us to the right place. The girl who coordinated our session was really friendly. We dressed into our PPE, took some pics right before the session started, and then started smashing. Overall, it was actually more fun than I thought it would be! I took off one star because of some safety concerns. I wish the room was a little bigger - I was nervous about accidentally hitting one of my colleagues so we took turns smashing items. Also, the PPE didn't feel like enough. I wish we had a change of shoes and thicker gowns. Some glass got stuck to the bottom of my boots, which I brought back home with me. Overall, solid experience. If they improve the safety portion, I would highly recommend this form of therapy to anyone. read more

They had days available in between Christmas and New Year's and so we booked a day and paid the deposit only to be told that they're not open on the holidays. If you're not open during that time, don't list those days available. That should be common fucking sense. read more

My 11 yr. old daughter has been having a hard time since the shutdown of her school and gym. One day while talking, she mentioned that she wanted to mess up her room. I contacted Yashica at Smash Rx and she suggested my daughter does plate therapy. My daughter was hesitant to do it but when we got into the room, I could tell she was starting to release some of that anger she was holding in when she started throwing things at the wall. She started crying and the plates were brought in; she started hitting the plates until she stopped crying. Later on, she told me that it felt good to hit something while crying. Beyond terrible service! Living locally we like to support local businesses. My daughter wanted to have her 16th birthday party and they completely screwed it up. I would tell everyone to stay away from this business as it has moved several times. They do not return phones calls. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! As my kids and I were thinking about activities to do before school started, I came across pictures my friend posted on Facebook. My youngest mentioned wanting to try this about a year ago but I didn't think much of it. Well after having to be at home for almost a year and a half, smash therapy sounded like a wonderful idea. We were all stressed one way or another and releasing it somewhere seemed very appropriate. We started with getting dressed in our protective gear which consisted of disposable coveralls, gloves, head gear with face shield and ear muffs, etc. We chose our tools, which in our case, consisted of pans, golf club, bat, sledge hammer, and a crow bar. Then, we were led into the room, played our own music, and were given 30 minutes to absolutely destroy everything in the room. My kids and I basically broke down everything in that room, except the chair. We broke all the glasses, ceramic plates, the VHS player, two night stands, and one bookcase/buffet looking thing. At first, we were super hesitant as we normally don't break things, actually, I'm always telling the kids to be careful and not to even scratch anything. It took a minute to register that it was all fair game. Once we started, there was no stopping us. It actually felt really good to break things. I have to say it was a workout. With all the gear on, we were all sweating by the ten minute mark. As we were hitting closer to the 25 minutes mark, we were exhausted. You definitely want to pace yourself. At the end of the session, we were able to see the destruction that we made. It was nice to see the things in pieces and destroyed. When we left, my youngest said she was ready to go again. Covid was really tough on her so it's understandable that she wants to do it again. I would love to bring some of my friends next time for a girls night out. FYI - The place is super clean, following all COVID protocols, and the owner is really nice! read more

I loved my experience here. The owner was very welcoming and hospitable. This spot is an ultimate stress reliever, after 10mins of smashing in a dresser and throwing bowls across the room....I didn't have a care in the world. My tone was different, more relaxed and calm, and I'd like to suggest bringing the person that stresses you out the most. The owner called me back and was so rude. Literally argued me with about the instructions on the Groupon... I heard about Smash Rx through word of mouth. A woman told me she brought her 10-year-old son and they had a great experience. I thought this would be a great opportunity to have a small, COVID-safe, get together for my 10-year-old son. My son was telling everyone for a month how excited he was for "the Smash Room." Upon our arrival, the business owner hardly greeted us. Instead, she loudly and rudely projected her voice to the entire group with 3 adults and 5 children, pointed at my son and said "we have a BIG problem, he is NOT 10." She brought my son to tears and discriminated against him for his appearance and size when her website listed the only requirement for children was to be age 10 with a parent present. All in the name of "safety." You got your point across that safety is number 1. However, you brought a child to tears with how untactful and unkind you are. I personally asked this woman so I could hear her confirm that she created this concept to be a "therapy room." Quite the therapeutic experience we got, with making a child cry and canceling our appointment with no validity other than her own perception; no standards in place for height or weight measurements. I'm baffled and appalled at how we were treated. read more

I never post reviews really, but This place is pretty unsafe. the PPE does not protect against broken glass, or multiple people swinging sludge hammers, bats, and other tools in a very confined space. We had multiple injuries (two members gashed by glass, and struck by a hammer) . One required stitches.... Please be safe. People got hurt. I just know there has to be more safety precautions. If you go, I wouldn't advise more than one person at a time in the tiny smash room. read more

Great experience! If you've ever thought of just smashing something out of frustration, this is definitely a must try. My boyfriend & I booked a last minute appointment here last night and the owner was so nice and accommodating. Got the "We Might Need Counseling" package (+ added a pesky printer to destroy lol). SO MUCH FUN! And incredibly therapeutic. Life gets hard and this is a fun and safe way to get all that pent up stress out. They provide safety gear but make sure you wear sturdy shoes and pants (I went a little hard and ended up accidentally ripping the disposable coveralls that were given so I'm glad I was wearing at least leggings). Make sure you have a playlist of all the music you want to have playing as you go off! The owner also offers therapy and anger management at the same location! I do not recommend this business at all. We arrived for a 10 year olds bday party. The owner was hostile towards us and the birthday boy making him cry. She started by telling us the 10 year old was not 10. She was in no way polite, she was harsh, abrasive yelling at us that this would not be safe for a 10 year old. We read the online info prior to arriving and booking party. It clearly says 10 and older. Anyway we cancelled on the spot. I guess what was most troubling is that the owner was yelling and out of control and not nice. Given she says she is some therapy specialist one would think she would have mastered polite interactions with adults and children. Don't waste your time or money on this business. read more
