Five stars, no question, and honestly I wish I could give bonus points because this experience was that good. From start to finish, Arcane Escape Rooms was such a fun, immersive, genuinely enjoyable time, and the absolute star of the whole experience was Alan. He was graceful, welcoming, articulate, and just incredibly comfortable to be around. You could tell he was genuinely excited for us and rooting for us the entire time. It never once felt rushed, forced, or annoyed, which makes such a huge difference with escape rooms. His energy elevated the entire experience, and the way he saved the best part for the end by showing us the other escape rooms and hyping up future experiences was honestly genius. He alone is a huge reason I would come back. We ended up doing one of the hardest rooms with four people total, including myself, and we completed it in under 40 minutes, which felt amazing. Alan was clearly impressed with our performance, and that encouragement made it even more fun. The puzzles were challenging but fair, engaging without being frustrating, and the whole experience felt really well thought out. I'm from the San Gabriel Valley and would absolutely drive out here again without hesitation. I actually came because a friend is local and we were meeting up, and it was more than worth the drive. A couple of small things worth mentioning just to be transparent, getting there can be a little confusing since it's on the third floor, and if you park in the back you want to enter on the left side. Signing up online was easy and seamless, everything felt organized and respected, and we showed up early which Alan appreciated and even mentioned so kindly. There was a slight carpet type smell when we first walked in, but once you're inside and focused on the experience, you stop noticing it completely. The lobby is on the smaller side, but since we were the only group there, it wasn't a big deal at all. I also really appreciated that they had hand sanitizer available. Overall, this was such a fun, memorable experience, and I left already wanting to come back. If you're even considering this place, do it, and if you get Alan as your host, you're in for an amazing time. read more

We had a great time. Jack was wonderful, very inviting and friendly. He explained our goal and the back story very well. He offered us a little hint when we wandered into the weeds. The game was engaging and fun. It was a little frantic but each of us were able to solve elements of the puzzle and move the team along. Escaped the agency beating this week's record with about 28 min, 8 people. We were late by 10-15 min and the GM surprisingly was so kind and didn't rush us. The agency is an easy game for those that have done escape rooms before but challenging for beginners. The place is in an abandon looking plaza. Great Escape Rooms The place is located in the upper 4th floor of a business plaza (closer when park in the back). Parking should be readily available. We did two escape rooms at Arcane on different days. We did with 2 people. First room we did the Hideout, clues were clear and puzzles were great. The game master did help drop hints along the way when we got stuck and we escaped with seconds remaining. The second time, we did The Agency and we were so close to getting out. The clues and puzzles were pretty manageable if you have done escape rooms before. The game master is always there to watch and help. We were on our last piece but simply we ran out of time and we became mutation experimentation. Overall, the staff here is great and the puzzles are fun. Would recommend this escape room company. Will be going back for the Ghost of Mentryville for the interactive experience. read more

My first time at an escape room and the experience was really great! My group was late but the GM never rushed us despite the fact. Just as the GM said their location and rooms are beginner friendly but still challenging to those that are experienced. To top it off we got the best time for the week for our maze! My group took a road trip on our continuing journey of escape rooms and landed at Arcane yesterday. We took on The Agency and The Hideout and were not disappointed with the experience at all. The staff is very friendly, they gave a quick and clear explanation of rules along with some do's and dont's of the rooms which was appreciated before taking us to the room. The 2 rooms are very different in the puzzles you encounter and how the room in general works but the story of the 2 rooms tie together so it's a lot of fun. We had a minor technical issue in The Hideout but a staff member came in right away when I mentioned it and fixed the issue so we got right back on track. If I had one criticism of the rooms it's that there is no timer in the rooms to allow you to see how much time you have left, they tell you over a speaker system every 10 minutes and the count you down from 5 minutes, minute by minute. Overall we had a great time, tension was at an all time high as we beat The Hideout with a mere 5 seconds left to spare, even the puzzlemaster entered the room excited and shared in the excitement of the moment with us, he told us how excited and nervous he was those last few seconds watching and cheering for us to get it. Great experience, well done rooms, interesting and unique puzzles. I'd recommend any escape room lovers check it out. read more

We had so much fun. Our host, Jack, is awesome and made the night that much better. The puzzles are fun and keeps you on your feet. You can tell these rooms were made with care and with a lot of skill. It is on the fourth floor of an office building. There are stairs or an elevator provided for you to get to the room. My friends and I made a special trip out there to celebrate a birthday. We all three rooms plus their outdoor game as well. Outdoor / Meta Game This game took you around the city of Newhall and requires some puzzles to be solved on site and some with internet access. It was a fun little way to explore the city of Newhall. It's not entirely walkable. It could be if you really like walking. The on site puzzles were fun to figure out. The Agency There were definitely some fun challenging puzzles in this game and the mood was set perfectly. The background music, lighting, and the effects were all done very well. Our group enjoyed the robotic voice reminding us of impending doom if we don't pass the test. A very good example of an escape room. The Hideout This is a continuation of the story line started in the meta game and through to the Agency. This is a unique room with plenty of tactile and dexterity puzzles. Only two key and lock puzzles in this room. It is incredibly interesting to use a different way to think about solutions. We just wanted more. The room was simple for a group of five. So many great elements that we wanted more of. The Ghost of Mentryville This experience is where Arcane Escape Rooms earns its stars. Their previous rooms are fun and interesting, but this room is where they differentiate themselves from the pack. It is a separate story from their other rooms but what a fascinating tale that is woven. You are immediately sucked into a gruesome, sad tale. I don't want to give too much away but it is the right amount of creep to keep your tensions heightened. A completely guided narrative that has a really strong density of puzzles. At the end, our group was happy to have made the drive up here to check out Arcane Escape Rooms. Thanks to John, James, and Tony for the great service they provided. One of my top 5 venues I've played at and I've played over 200 escape rooms. Really well-crafted games that keep you engaged the entire time. There's a very eerie vibe in all 3 of their games that adds a layer to the immersion. Staff is also very friendly. Their new game, "The Ghost of Mentryville" is my favorite because of the theatrical elements and the story is top-notch. "The Agency" and "The Hideout" are great as well. Ghost of Mentryville. I'm closing in on my 200th Escape Room and would put Ghost of Mentryville in the top 10, maybe top five. It's definitely NOT the everyday escape room experience and that, perhaps, is why it's a stand-out. It's not multiple rooms full of high tech wizardly, or jump-scary, or all about locks and keys. It's more like intimate live theater with an escape room element, and even though it's a timed event and has plenty of puzzling to work through, it unfolds like a well told story. Without giving anything away, much of it involves a central bit of craftsmanship that is stunning and beautifully realized. This one is a full meal to be savored. Bravo to Arcane. read more

I keep thinking Ive seen it all, and then an escape room like the Ghose of Mentryville comes up and blows me away all over again. These days escape rooms are getting bigger and bigger with more and more tech, which makes it even more impressive that Arcane was able to create such a unique room with zero tech and extremely limited space. This is easily one of the most creative rooms Ive been in, and I love how story driven the room is. I highly recommend this room for escape enthusiasts, fans of immersive theater, and anyone who enjoys old campfire tales and old fashioned ghost stories. The room itself was a fun puzzle experience, however the time was too short. 50 minutes seems like a decent amount of time, but 60 minutes would have been preferable. I'm not unhappy that we didn't escape, but I was very disappointed in the attitude we got from the employee. He was very short with us, and condescending at times. Played my 76th and 77th rooms here today! Played The Agency (so close) and The Hideout (escaped). Both rooms are 50 minutes long, which I think is a good amount of time to fully experience the rooms and get through the puzzles. I usually play with a group of 3-4 people, which was plenty for Hideout (6 max). The Agency fits more people (8 max). These rooms are low tech, but I love the contraptions and gadgets we got to use. Agency is multiroom, while Hideout is a very well made room that is unique and unlike most rooms I've played. Even though the rooms are in an office space, it doesn't feel like it once you're inside. The puzzles are great and it feels immersive in these rooms. I would recommend them to newbies and escape enthusiasts alike! The owners are fantastic (Matt and Kristine) and customer service is on point. They are located on the fourth floor of a mainly large, white office building and there is free parking. read more

This was a Mother's Day adventure that Mom was NOT looking forward to...her last experience in an escape room was really bad...bad puzzles, bad staffing, bad chemistry. To that we say, THANK YOU Arcane Escape Rooms...this was an amazing family experience that we will never ever forget. The room was challenging. There were 3 of us and we ALMOST made it out. More than anything, this experience allowed us to work together in a way that we had never done before...we had fun, we faced consequences, we taxed our brains and almost overcame the obstacles. And a huge tip of the hat to owner Matt, who was our spirit guide. He never left us hanging, he gave great, timely clues and, when we failed, he gave us a final hint and allowed us to continue till we succeeded, which was only a few minutes more. Very small and pricey. My kids and their friends had fun in the actual escape room though. While my friend and I sat in the microscopic lobby on their couch and waited for our kids we were chatting quietly. The front desk young man was telling some other customers about the rules for their escape room when all of the sudden he snapped at us, shushed us and said he couldn't concentrate on the rules because we were talking!!! We were in complete shock! How dare this little shit talk to us in this rude, unprofessional manner! In no way were we loud or trying to be rude. Your lobby is the size of my bathroom! If you can't handle people sitting there speaking than maybe ask parents to wait outside and provide chairs there or bring customers inside the escape room to explain. tl;dr This place is amazing and if you are thinking about visiting you should definitely book immediately. This escape room is really a top notch experience! The staff here all care very much about their customers. I have done both The Agency and The Hideout and let me just tell you that they really are well done rooms. Our game masters, Scott (The Agency) and Alana (The Hideout), were absolutely great. They both answered all of our questions and were helpful in getting their electronic waiver's signed. You can genuinely tell that they enjoy their job. The owners, Matt and Kristine, are so extremely friendly and warm that it instantly set my groups nerves at ease. Our group for The Agency was 6 and our group for The Hideout was 4. The rooms are really well designed with each having an eerie theme to them. The Agency is what I would call more traditional from what I have seen as far as my escape room repertoire goes (13 Rooms). The logical progression through the room really flowed and there wasn't any time that I was thinking that anything felt out of place. The room is what I would call semi-nonlinear where you could have multiple puzzles going on working their way to one collective goal. Overall, this is probably my favorite room I have done. The Hideout was a breath of fresh air. That room is so unique and so different that it really establishes itself in a constantly growing market of escape rooms. With many mechanical props and puzzles opposed to locks it feels much more hands on then the vast majority of live escape rooms. My team had a nail biting escape with only 4 minutes to spare. The rooms are definitely challenging. After the room, I enjoyed how they asked how we liked it and if we had any questions. This place is a model and a template of what Escape Rooms should be. I'm really looking forward to seeing what these guys come up with in the future. My recommendation is that everyone check this place out. read more

Hot diggity dog! I don't even know where to begin. Escape rooms are a blast and had heard so many great things, but Santa Clarita was a drive. Finally made the trip and boy oh boy, was it worth it. Unique on every level, especially "The Hideout." There is so much creative energy and love put into this room that anyone within the LA area has to make the drive out to this place. There is nothing traditional or purchased here. All the puzzles seem hand crafted and have an amazing ingenuity behind them. All of them have the right amount of difficulty without being too hard or too easy and have the most satisfying "ah ha!" kind of reveals - no leaps of logic here! The owner, Matt, was our guide and was beyond amazing to us. I wish we had made the drive sooner because this is one of my most favorite experiences I've done. I took a 2 boys (10yrs & 11yrs). We were told that, due to their age, The Agency Room would be a good start. We all have never done an Escape Room before. Arrival: Arrived in their small, cute Lobby to meet a smiling Scott. When the boys looked at the board and saw that only 27% have "survived" The Agency, they got a little nervous, buy Scott explained the game completely, the rules and a few suggestions. He got us pumped up! Scott mentioned that, if we need help or are stuck or look like we are "very cold" as what to do, we may hear a clue to get us back on track. We really didn't want to take advantage of too many hints...I think we asked for 4-5...some answered, some not. It is challenging! Doable, but challenging! I wouldn't bring a child under 10 years. We didn't survive.... :( BUT we had a blast! The boys did better than expected. We left feeling the adrenaline, hyped up and talked about how even figuring out ONE PUZZLE on your own...as one of them said "makes you feel a warm rush"...LOL! We can't stop thinking about The Agency, what did we do right? What did we miss? After an hour, I booked us for the next day!!! Again!!! (My husband thinks I'm a mental patient). And, since he said it out loud, I made him go with us! He didn't think it would be that fun because we know some of it already..... Day 2 The Agency: No Scott this time, but met another young man who was so sweet and helpful. (Sorry I forgot his name. Longer hair right above shoulders. Sweetheart.) We went through the pre-game stuff for my husband. We SURVIVED with 8 minutes left. We all walked into the room with a gameplan which fell apart because we forgot STEP 2! Hahaha! We are hooked. Gonna try The Hideout next. It's so nice to have something to do as a family that promotes team building. I wish this was around when my older kids were teenagers.
