You're approached by a Rep. at large brick store such as Sam's Club, Walmart, who permit them to solicit at their location. There was no disclosure that you'd be contacted later to schedule an in-home consultation; only contacted should you win the contest. Needless to say, you're contacted by a call center Rep who proceeds to strong arm you to immediately schedule a home visit for an estimate. When told no, not now; the Rep resorted to bullying tactics and became argumentative, disrespectful and insulting. I informed them to take me off the list and terminated the conversation. Clearly, the Sweepstakes contest is simply a lure to get you hooked into contracting for a project before you're really ready to do so. And, now after reading the numerous negative reviews of other customers, I wouldn't contract with this firm even if I did win the $15K Sweepstakes. Someone must have given them my phone number and they won't stop calling. They sometimes call three times a day and leave no messages. Blocking their number. You can't get a positive review if you harass people thinking they're a potential customer. Advice, call and leave a message. If they're interested they'll return your call. read more

Windows are nice but the customer support and attentiveness is one of the worst I've experienced. They are not responsive and no follow through. I called to have the safety latches replaced and a window replaced due to vandalism on back in 2017. They finally showed up after so many failed calls and attempts in 2022. He came with the new window and that one was cracked off the truck. They finally came back in 2023 and replaced the window but didn't have the latches the list. SERIOUSLY!!! Sot he guy have me all the latches he had on the truck for me to replace on my own. read more

We had a shower put in our master bathroom, we ordered frameless glass , they brought a cheap framed shower. I complained the. and the had remeasure and install what we ordered. A little over a year after install, the shower seal started falling off, and the shower door shifted and handle was coming loose. They sent an installer who had no idea had to remedey the issue. 2 months afer he advised that our 2 way door was only supposed to be used 1 way, is now off center again and the seal stillisnt fixed and handle is loose. blah blah blah...... bottom line do not use this company for bathroom remodels read more

Do your homework before hiring this contractor ALL STATEMENTS ARE TRUE AND FACT Appleby Systems Inc. York, Pa. installed 12 replacement windows- 2 doors and sunroom in our home. It is very hard to express the emotional nightmare that we suffer as a result of Appleby. The contract claimed Appleby would provide all building permits. They claim no subcontractors do their work, I can continue but the bottom line is this. 1) Appleby NEVER applied for any building permit for the (sunroom) knowing one was needed for the construction. The sunroom failed building code standards and needs replaced. 2) Both doors were not installed correct and we are unable to use the doors. They installed the wrong size doors and suffer water-wind coming into the house. . 3) All windows were installed incorrectly and suffer water-wind coming into the house, walls and did not even place insulation around the windows. One window (Huge front picture window) THAT WAS INSTALLED WITH THE OUT SIDE IN AND THEY HAD TO COME AND TEAR IT OUT AND TURN IT SO THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOW WAS NOT ON THE OUT SIDE. The installers never used drop cloths and left the job with no clean up. 4) They are certified Lead paint remodeler's; they never did any lead paint testing on our home that was built in 1958. 5) They claim no lead paint found. There is a huge amount of lead base paint that still remains, and the original window frames covered with lead base paint still remain. All that Appleby window installers did was keep the old rotted frames in place and placed several wood boards between original window frames and (New custom built windows) to make them fit. 6) Appleby claims they manufacture their own custom made windows. They DO NOT. Janteck Window's out of Medford N.J. Are who manufactured all the windows in our home. NOT APPLEBY 7) The "New custom windows" ALL have tagged (APPLEBY RECOVERY) on each window including our name, date, and window size and style. $40,000.00 was paid to Appleby to destroy our home. 8) I could continue with FACTS that are true and the continued suffering that this unfounded experience we still endure from Appleby Systems Doors and Windows, Sunrooms, Roofing, Siding, Basement Remolding out of York, Pa. Granted, they have nice windows and no doubt they're of the highest quality... BUT, if you schedule an estimate, be prepared to learn about the long, boring history of Appleby windows. Good freaking God, it only takes an hour if you ask 0 questions, blatantly show disinterest and ask to get to the estimate multiple times. In January I scheduled a consultation with Appleby Systems at my home after being solicited at Sam's Club. A nice gentleman came to our house to measure our roof and offer options and suggestions. We are on the market for upgrading our current roof to a metal roof, and the price difference has made me extra cautious, so I asked for a written quote and was promised one "early next week." Well, the following week came and went. So did the next three months. We received no follow up, nor email. Nothing. Fast forward to May, and we're at Sam's Club and again get solicited by Appleby System. I told the outside sales rep what happened in January, and she seemed embarrassed. She immediately called the Appleby call center and handed me the phone. The woman at the call center also seemed embarrassed, and she promised me that they'd make it right. Early the following week a manager called who came across as gruff, rude, and put off by having to speak to me. This Appleby manager said that a price was given to me verbally, and then he asked if I wanted to proceed with that price. I was taken aback. I told him that I'd like to see something in writing, as promised, before I committed to anything. The next day a different manager called me to schedule a time for someone to come back out to my house "to look at a few things" before they gave me a formal quote. In preparation for Appleby System's second visit to our house, my wife and I rearranged our schedules to be home at the agree upon time (they specifically asked for a time when we'd both be home). A few days before this second meeting, Appleby System's call center called to confirm our appointment, and we confirmed our availability. Then, on the day of the second appointment, 90 minutes before our appointment time, to be precise, the call center called to tell us that no manager was going to be in the area today and they were cancelling our appointment altogether. "Someone will email you a quote," I was told. I suppose this is all a blessing in disguise. Short of begging Appleby System to accept my $30,000+, I'm not sure what has to transpire to get its attention, not to mention have it respect our time as at least somewhat valuable. read more

I got a show/bath from them. The quote took 2 hours and then they put u on the spot to go for the "deal". The product is good but installation is crap.The guy that did the plumbing was good. The caulk job was crappy there is a open crack at the bottom of shower wall that we are gonna redo and the dry wall wasn't great there. It foster me 13,000 dollars a lot of people say I got ripped off. read more

God forbid you need to have something fixed. Have tried to contact them about a pane in our triple pane slider that has cracked from edge to edge. After I had a good experience with them installing the shower stall, On a different installation I had them come in and install windows, this was a nightmare! The installation date was pushed a little, the installation of the windows was horrible, they missed measured, they didn't understand the windows we had originally installed, they had to redo siding on the outside of the house and some cases cracked the siding. The J channeling around the new windows was very poorly done. I had to redo all the molding on the inside of the windows and this was also a very amateur done job. They return to the house three times and after the third time it still wasn't right but I did not trust their craftsmanship. While the windows I bought were triple pane and they insulate well the installation of these windows, done horribly, have leaks around the frame. I continue to find drafty holes and continue to caulk; I will not let them back in my house to do work! For as much as they charge, this is ridiculous. I strongly advise against letting them do windows or doors or anything that could affect airflow in draft into the house. Very sad since the shower stall came out so great. read more

If I could give a negative star rating I would. Every thing the salesman told us was a lie! Let's begin with they didn't start the work on time. We got two different people calling us on different days giving us different dates. Finally work started, and the salesman promised they only hire professional and that's not what we got an "at most" two week job turned into almost three months. GO WITH A DIFFERENT COMPANY THAT OFFERS THE SAME THING. For all our troube and stress over our basement being done and different managers coming to see to actually clean up the dust that was left on our floor, a plumbler who didn't know what he was doing and left parts of the job unfinished the owner gave a hundred dollar gift card. We took a couple different days off from work and it cost us more in time than 100 bucks. SMH There are other companies that offer the non oragnic ceiling, walls, and floors. Shop around. The products work well but just a bad business. read more

I would give a negative if I could. We had all our windows done. Installed poorly, drafty, and not insulated well around the actual window. They came back, tried to fix them but not done any better. Now a year in the few windows we have opened bc we keep the AC on most of the time the inside clips have broken on more than one window with barely any use. I called to have them come out. 125 bucks for them to come fix something that is clearly a manufacturing issue. If I could go back I would buy Anderson windows hands down. These windows are horrible and their customer service to own their shitty product is even worse. read more

They called me the day before the estimate was scheduled to tell me that after viewing my property on google earth, a house of my magnitude would cost between $30 and $50K to re-side. My house is 1200 sq feet and only needs siding on the first floor. When I asked if there is a mistake, he assured me that it was not. When I said that price is not even close to competitive, his response was "ok, we'll cancel the appointment." read more

We decided to go with this company for a walk in shower install because they told us everything would be completed around the holidays and the work would take two days. Here we are in February and the install is scheduled for Monday February 5th, a little after the holidays. The only reason the install is scheduled for Monday is because I called wondering what was going on since we were told the shower stall would be installed around the holidays. I have left two messages for the manager and still no return phone call. I would never recommend this company, you can't trust what the salesman tells you. read more

We had a positive experience with Appleby. Aside from minor delays for the first visit, and lack of communication with getting started, they did a great job. A little disappointed the sales person who came out encouraged us that there was likely mold and it should get done ASAP, which was not the case when the contractor had it ripped apart. The tub and walls around it look great and our new shower and toilet is really nice when all said and done. read more

Buyer Beware! Worst windows that I have ever purchased. If I could give them a negative rating I would. I have had nothing but problems from day one. They have included but not limited to a broken frame, broken balancers, lack of caulking allowing air and rain to enter my home, cold glass, drafts, condensation on inside and outside of windows. I also have problems with the glass. They have had to return to my home many times since the installation to try and correct the problems but have failed. The company salesperson stated that their triple pane windows were superior to any others since there would be no temperature transfer from outside to inside and that their frames were of high quality and energy efficient. All of this has proven to be false. I spent an exuberant amount of money to get what I thought would be superior. energy efficient but instead they are no better than the ones that I replaced. I have purchased windows in the past for my previous homes and have never had any problems with any of them. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

I can not speak for their product since I never went through with it, but their attitude when you're trying to get away from them is terrible. I needed a new roof. The Sales Manager that came out, Nigel, came out and gave my wife and I a 3 hour seminar. He discussed all of our possible options, why he felt they were the best, our current issues with our home/roof, and his solution. It was very thorough, but the price sounded very high. He explained that this would typically cost roughly $31k, but after some discounts he got it down to little less than $24k. My wife and I were still unsure, but we signed knowing we could cancel in 3 days. The next day we called and cancel. Nigel came back out to complete the paperwork. He was pissed that we were considering canceling. We kept trying to tell him no for an hour, but he kept trying to convince us. After changing the color he got it down to roughly $19k. We signed knowing we could cancel in 3 days, and the president, John, began getting us references to calm our thoughts on this choice. I researched their reviews online, the normal price of our roof, and talked to a neighbor that had their roof done by them. The neighbor said the product was nice, but they paid too much. Seemed somewhat in line with what we found online. Also had a couple coworkers tell me that their customer service was not as great as they talked it up to be. On Monday John emailed me 3 references. The first 1 I called hung up, so I felt there was no point in calling the other 2. I called John the next day to proceed with canceling. He was upset with this, and I felt as though he was trying to bully/intimidate me in staying with them. He wouldn't take no for an answer. Finally he agreed we shouldn't do business with each other. I asked what I needed to do to proceed with canceling. He was very rude/short in his response, and though I still tried remaining pleasant up till the end of the call he was not. The following day I wanted confirmation that this was canceled. I wasn't trusting them at this point. So I called them once in the morning and once in the afternoon to finally get an email confirmation that I canceled. Now I emailed them today because they cashed my down payment on the 12th, and I'm still waiting on the refund. They are quick to take your money, but not give it back. read more
