Honestly, she was so great I didn't even feel comfortable telling her the food was trash... because it really was. My chicken was rough, and almost cardboard-like just very disappointing. My daughter's mac and cheese didn't do any better; it looked unappetizing and didn't taste much better either. Despite the food, we still left a 20% tip because our server absolutely earned it. A 3 star rating is by no means a bad thing. To me it's just a pretty average place. There is good food, good atmosphere and good service. We love stopping in because it's a cheaper date night and close to home. The food is pretty standard bar food, but there are some added dinners that are more than bar food. I usually get chicken tenders because what 29 year old doesn't like some good chicken tenders and fries. I'm simple and easy to please. The boyfriend is usually the one who changes it up. This most recent time he got the bourbon street chicken and shrimp. There were no leftovers so I assume he enjoyed it. So I will say again, the 3 star rating is not a bad rating. My family and I dined at Applebee's after a church service on a Friday night the week before Christmas. We were absolutely not pleased with some of the service we received. Our waiter, Chris, was one of the most attentive, friendly, and welcoming servers I have met. The food was incredibly delicious! It came out in a timely manner and surpassed taste expectations. Chris kept our drinks full, brought boxes quickly when needed, and maintained a smile and excellent people skills throughout our dinner. The problem came in when it was time to pay. We had four separate checks. But that should be no problem for Applebee's. Chris instructed us to pay on the little kiosk at our table. While some of my older, traditional family members bickered about having to use confusing new technology, we went on with our payments. After the first couple paid, we tried to pay for the next bill, which we had a coupon for. Chris explained that he needed to take the coupon to their cashier station in order to use it. We obliged and he went up to work on it. He came back and informed us that we were not able to use a coupon after we already started to pay on the little table kiosk. He professionally apologized, still maintaining his hospitable attitude. The most major issue occurred when we asked to speak to his manager, Phil. Chris helped us the best he could but we wanted to make sense of not being able to use our coupon by talking with Phil. From the very moment Phil came to our table, he seemed disgruntled. He immediately served us an annoyed, unfriendly attitude. He grouchily came over to our table and asked what we wanted. While he ended up resolving the issue after much explaining. He never apologized in any fashion. It was inappropriate and cold, considering we were nothing but polite about wanting to use our coupon. Our main server, Chris, was quite obviously apologetic and embarrassed of the whole situation. Phil made us feel incredibly uncomfortable, and quite frankly we felt bad for Chris. I spent all day at this Applebee's on Thursday doing a dine to donate fundraising event, for a non profit organization I am partnered with. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. The management went above and beyond to make the experience a positive one for us. They opened the doors a few minute early to allow us to set up our bake sale. Blake, the host was super accommodating allowing customers who bought raffle tickets to use his wingspan for their ticket lengths. He has been there for our events going on 3 years now and always greets us with excitement. If you have a choice definitely sit in Kimberly, Meredith, Phyllis, or Ashley's sections! Those ladies have hearts of gold and go above and beyond for their customers! But I really can't say enough good about the entire staff at this Applebee's. They're all amazing people. read more

Came here with four of my friends for lunch. We had missed breakfast and ordered quite a bit. Their Brew Pub Pretzels and Beer Cheese Dip was a delicious starter to our meal. I quite liked the sweet mustard dipping sauce that was included with the cheese dip. I had ordered their American Standard Burger and found it to be juicy and filling. I finally had their Churro S'mores for dessert and they were very decadent. Only problem is the chocolate syrup they use, which tasted very flat. Came here one day when I had an extra-long lunch break from work. Sat at the bar, as it was quick seating and not crowded. Bartender was very friendly and good at recommending meals that she thought were great without seeming pushy. I ordered the 4 cheese mac and cheese with honey pepper chicken pasta dish based on the recommendation of my step-sister, who had eaten it at another location. The bartender thought that was an excellent choice that I would just love. I took a few bites and was honestly already not loving it. It was bland and you would never mistake it for having an ounce of cheese flavor. I drizzled some of the honey pepper sauce that I had them put on the side in case I wasn't a fan to see if it helped. I was forking in for another bite when I felt my utensil hit something decidedly more solid than pasta or cooked chicken. Search and discovery yielded a small, round plastic lid in the bottom of my bowl. I flagged down the bartender and asked her if this was, indeed, an ingredient in my meal. She was understandably embarrassed (after her rave review) and immediately took the bowl back to the kitchen. The manager came out and, also seeming embarrassed, explained that the dish ingredients were pre-portioned, blah, blah, blah, and offered to remake it as well as not charge me and also gave me a coupon for a free future meal. I accepted the offer because it was a plastic lid and not a cockroach or anything, but after I already waited twice to eat, I told them to make it to go. Although I didn't have time to eat it by then. (Side note: I neglected to tip the poor bartender who was actually a credit to the place because in my head, my meal was on the house and I was already miffed at having to wait extra long and not even get to eat, so if you ever read this, I am SO sorry). I mean, everyone knows that restaurants take shortcuts. We just choose to believe someone is taking some care to make our food because we can't see what's going on back there and it ain't cheap. But pre-portioned or not, how freaking lazy and oblivious to you have to be to not to notice that you dumped the lid in the bowl...or ask yourself where did that lid go?? I didn't think having plastic in my food bothered me that much...I mean, would I not eat it if I did such a thing at home? Nah, that's ridiculous. But it's a enough of a thing to make me wonder what other "short-cuts" people who don't give a crap are making back there. The only reason I could see someone going to an Applebee's is because there is nothing else around. But, there are other, much better restaurants in the area. Applebee's food is bland as can be. I know they employ a lot of locals, and everyone has to make a living, so don't take it out on your server when your food sucks. You were the fool who walked into Applebee's in the first place. I'm giving this Applebee's 3 stars (rather than 2) ONLY because my wife likes the drink specials and the service is usually good. The food is "mehhhhhhhhhhh I've had better". On 5/21, my wife and I went here and I ordered the chicken and shrimp and my chicken was TERRIBLE -- hard and just not cooked right. I'm also pissed off that they discontinued the fajitas. WHY OH WHY would you discontinue such a great dish? EPIC EPIC FAIL. I'm not really surprised at all the negative reviews of this Applebee's. I think it's sort of gone downhill in the past 2 years or so. OK, we do eat here about twice a month, but only because it's convenient and as I said, my wife likes some aspects. But I think they could do a much better job with the food and also they should add some better dishes to the menu. They have a 2 for $20 and 2 for $25, but the dishes are very limited. They should include some additional dishes. I really don't care for most of them. And the appetizers they include are limited as well, and I don't care for most of them either. When we came here on 5/21, a Saturday night, the place was half empty. Hey management, ask yourself why that should be. You should be full on a Saturday night. I am not surprised to see so few stars for this location. Visited Sunday, May 22nd. With so many servers yacking amongst themselves and dancing (yes literally dancing at the hostess station) you would think they would have time to notice a new guest was seated. NOPE - We waited a significant amount of time (and I am quite patient) before a server even came over to take a drink order! When the server came her excuse was she had a "salad fiasco" in the kitchen - sorry dear, not our problem. I ordered wine - and watched the bartender not go anywhere near the ticket for perhaps 10 minutes - she was too busy "entertaining" and chatting with the men at the bar. When the server did bring the wine - she said "You do know I have other tables?" WHAT?? Since this was the second time in two visits that we encountered this type of service, I asked to see the manager. NO we did not want "freebies" - we told him we would not accept even though he did try... We just wanted him to know that while we were watching him run food and touch tables, his staff was woefully LOSING customers. Brian was very nice and asked if he could at least offer a coupon for our next visit - we said that would be fine.
