Ordered a Chinese Chicken Salad and a Burger to go - the Burger appeared to fill the bill for my husband, a burger. The salad for me was full of BROWN and rotten lettuce. If I had been at the restaurant it would have sent it back as it was, I had to toss it. It was a Curbside to Go order so there was no real service although when we got there, I walked in to let them know we were there and was promptly told they knew because they have cameras - snotty and not nice. Also outside the back door was apparently the smoking area so everyone stands back there to smoke - made me wonder about my food to start. We arrived here on an early Sunday eve. after finding our first choice (Traverse City) closed at 3PM. I enjoyed the Terre Haute themed entry way, as well as the other Indiana decor in the dining area. There was no wait and we were seated/attended to promptly by a nice hostess as soon as we entered. Although the menu is pretty meat-heavy, they do offer an Impossible cheeseburger for us veg people. I do wish they offered just one vegetarian entree salad menu option, though. My family member ordered a crispy chicken salad and I stuck with the Impossible burger minus cheese and fries. Taylor, our waitress was courteous and attentive. While waiting for our food, i looked around and realized that while things appeared clean, the atmosphere just seems worn out and dated. There were several spots on the walls, the wood finish on some of the tables was wearing off and the carpet looked worn and wrinkled in spots. This building could definitely use a refresh. Our food arrived quickly and was nicely plated. My family member said her salad was very good. The accompanying breadstick was brought out later as it apparently took longer to bake. My burger was decent, and I especially enjoyed the bun. The fries tasted just a bit stale, as though they'd been reheated. Overall our meal was fine. The walls, the toilets, and the floors had built up crud and mold. The floor was sticky, and the trash was overflowing to the floor. Went here with my friend. There was one couple who was already eating when we arrived and a larger family that was ordering. Server seemed to be new (I hope) and it took FOREVER. He apologized and said there was an issue with the larger table... ok? I understand stuff happens but no one is here, you said you would come back to take our order and now it's been 20 minutes, and we also didn't get refills on drinks. I understand people have bad nights, but the fact I have applied here and been denied so many times but you hire this guy is insane. I like the food at Applebees, but this is a common theme across every single one I've been to:THE STAFF RUIN THE EXPERIENCE. Get better staff and maybe your business wouldn't be failing. After a long day, $5 margaritas and half off apps hit the spot. It's become a small tradition for our class to go here and I always applaud the waiters and waitresses for handling our large group with grace and kindness. This week's waiter was Luke and about ten of us. I usually get the margaritas here but they also have $6 long island and bahama mamas specials on Tuesdays. This time I got the wonton chicken tacos and the tortilla soup. Both were good. I wouldn't order the soup again because it's nothing special. The wonton tacos were better than I had expected. One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. We ordered the cheese dip as an appetizer. It came out barely warmer than room temp with over cooked burnt chips. We sent it back and they microwaved it for us. As we are dealing with this we hear the table behind us talking to our waitress about also missing parts of their meal. They took forever to replace the items and the woman at the table just refused the replacement when it came out after their entire family was done eating. We finally get our food. Somehow the Mac and cheese penne pasta I had ordered came out again, barely warmer than room temp but on a piping hot plate they wouldn't let me touch. How are cold noodles on a hot plate? I had to send this back to be reheated again. I am currently pregnant and having food cooked to the right temperatures is super important to not get sick, not just for pregnant women but everyone. My boyfriend said his steak tasted like fish. He only ate half. The manager came out and asked if it was better, which yes it's hotter. He said "ok good, have a great night" and left. I don't understand how after sending two different food items back for not being hot enough didn't get anything comped for this visit or the next. Our poor waitress. Usually not a problem American style food very easy to cook not for sure if the cook was blind or his first day or not. To start off the sweet tea was not sweet at all they don't even offer sweet dew you had to put sugar in it yourself but they're willing to charge you 3.29 for sweet tea on the receipt. Didn't get a picture of the riblet meal that they removed because it was black not even close to being edible. Waitress was nice was not her fault manager took care of our meals as far as re-cooking them. But the meals were still not cooked properly and there was no discount except for the one meal that he removed. Staff was great and respected me and Beaux my service dog,. I ended up leaving with another customer petting my dog without permission, I went to their table and was trying to be nice and said I'll let the beautiful young lady meet him. At that point some jackass opened his mouth and said some not nice things to . I tried to explain that I was just playing around and would let her meet my dog. Jackass then thought he won as I tried to explain and brushed me off. I went over the top which I regret but he has most certainly had a silver spoon in his mouth. Decent place to have quite meal and drink. Staff are friendly. Bar is a cool place to hang out and watch some food ball. They have variety in menu including low calorie food. They have inexpensive dessert to try - Brownie with ice cream which is delicious . Lighting is too low at night otherwise it's good place for dinner and drinks. read more

Road trip pit stop for dinner, halfway between Cincinnati and St. Louis. Not sure why the Applebee's has only three star average because our experience was flawless. Christian, our server, was delightful and gave us perfect service. Super polite, attentive and very quick. I had the strawberry chicken salad and it exceeded expectation. Chicken was moist and tender, and the salad's flavor combinations were spot on. My husband had the oriental salad, which was also very good. The other servers seemed to be doing a great job and everyone around us seemed to be happy, too. I highly recommend -- and if you dine here and have a similar experience, please join me in leaving a five star review. All roads lead to Applebee's, or so I have heard. After a bad experience at another place in town, we went with the tried and true chain. That was a good decision. We had very good service from Jessika, who insisted we check the doneness of our steaks. We sent them back for a refire after finding them a little too rare and they came back medium rare as ordered, just right. The rest of the food was just as you'd find at any other Applebee's, which is what we wanted. The atmosphere was a lot sleepier than other Applebee's we've been in, and there were a few less televisions than in our hometown location, but that was just fine with us. When I'm in Terre Haute, I eat at this Applebee's at least once. Every time I have gone there, it's been consistently good. The people there are always helpful and friendly even though the wait staff is never the same people from the previous time I was there; they are usually all college students who work there. Applebees has never been my thing. I went with someone who wanted to go. All I got to experience is the reason why I never go here. The dollar margaritas and long island ice teas were nothing but a complete joke. Our appetizer did come out quick and it was fresh. When our food came out they had messed up the other persons burger. So they took it back to "burn off the sauce", which I don't think they should do anyways. If you mess some thing up you need to address it and fix it, not put a bandaid over it. There was nothing wrong with my food, expect the fact I paid $14 for some thing that's looks like it belonged on the kid menu. I guess that's what I get for trying something different at a establishment like this. Even with our waitress brand new on her first day, I will say she did pretty good. Your typical family/chain bar-and-grill restaurant. I come here pretty frequently for three reasons: location, booze, wings. First, location. This Applebee's is just close enough to the mall and the highway to stay decently busy but far enough away that it's not getting all the action. I don't think I've ever had to wait when visiting this Applebee's, and I've been here at all different times on all different days of the week. Recently I've been sitting in the bar area more--the bartenders are always very friendly but they provide just enough "service." They don't check up on you hundred times, which I like because I like to be left alone when I eat. I even sat at the bar this weekend and didn't feel like the bartender was paying too much attention to me. They are always busy enough that the servers won't be constantly at your table, but never so busy that I've gotten shit service. Two, booze. Sometimes I come here and I just drink iced tea (thank you, Applebee's, for making good iced tea). Most of the time, though, I am after that $5 Mega Margarita. I also love that they always offer sugar on the rim of my strawberry-flavored ones. Three, wings. I could eaten chicken wings every day, I think. The bone-in wings here are always flavorful and pretty juicy. Most importantly, there is a lot of meat on them. Some places, it seems like there is very little meat for your money on the wings. That's not so here. I think I basically always get the spicy Asian chile sauce. It has a nice amount of heat and a great taste. In short: it's dependable food that I can get for a decent price when I don't feel like cooking or I need a late afternoon lunch.
