The Empire Mall isn't what it used to be and the entire complex feels tired and in dire need of TLC. This AppleBees, connected to the mall, felt worn as well. Dining room was bright, but was dingy and smelled very musty. Staff were friendly and there appeared to be ample folks working, however service was incredibly slow. While I didn't expect much from an AppleBees at a dying mall, the bar was set low and this location couldn't even step over it. read more

Normally, I wouldn't eat at an Applebees, Chili's, etc. Mostly because it's frozen food served by line cooks making a below average hourly wage. Which causes the passion of cooking to be non-existent. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. We ordered the chips and queso and 2 Dracula juice cocktails. Both were really good. Chips were fresh and salty. Then we ordered 2 burgers for the entrees. Food was solidly above average. It's not a 5 star but definitely deserves more than a 3 star. Sadly, it's hit or miss for both food and service. I miss the consistancy that used to be the regular for Applebees.

As a Director of Nursing Services, we attend many trainings in Sioux Falls and I was there for a week long training. I ordered food using this stores delivery. My order was picked up by a door dasher and the store sent me a text and said to work with the dasher directly. I then received a text my order was handed to me. Of course I did not have it. I called the dasher who continuously hung up the call when I called. I called door dash and they said because I didn't use the app they could not help me and the store refused to send me my food and no one was responsible for a refund. So I paid $60 for food I never received. If Applebee's is not going to hold anyone responsible and neither is door dash, I suggest you don't use either. So if you order and it says Kimberly is bringing it to you, best of luck. read more

The manager is the problem. After telling my waitress my steak was over cooked the manager came over. She blamed me for not reporting my complaint to the server sooner. I didn't argue with the manager but I should have. She is not customer first person. This is not the first run in I've had with this Manager. She should be fired. read more

Got there at 7pm on a Monday night. Didn't get our drinks for 15 minutes. It was slow. Our server said he'd be right with us. Great no problem. Got our food, grandpa ordered soup and he's the only one without food. Said it would be right out. Ok understandable. BUT server did not check on us, to see if we even got our food, we didn't get a single drink refill or even asked if we wanted one. Fiancés dad had a beer and we had to wait to see our server so we could get another beer for him. He didn't ask if we were ok or anything at all. Was the worst experience of our life. Not to mention the sarcasm that came from him was just not funny. No one had a good time, we didn't even eat our food because our child was waiting 1 hour for applesauce and a quesadilla that should've been brought out asap per request. The sole fact of having to pay for a $100 dinner when no one enjoyed their dinner, is remarkably unacceptable. I get places are short staffed, but i have worked in the industry 10+ years and this was beyond anything I've ever dealt with. Wont be back ever again. read more

Came here 45 mins before closing, the service is really great and the food was awesome. I felt so bad for coming in late and I didn't expect anything phenomenal but they were so kind and the food came out really quick and tasted good. Our server Sage was so kind and was super attentive even though it was so late. The best Applebees I've been to actually! Thank you guys! read more

Appetizer platter was ok. Entree was delicious my only real complaint for the night was the bartender. My first drink was super watery and my second was so syrupy I couldn't even drink it. I picked Applebees because of the (usually) delicious drinks but unfortunately I was not happy. read more

6 of us and 1 yr old. Two steaks came not med rare as ordered but well done. Got fries when ordered mashed potatoes. The tacos were cold except the slightly warm soggy fried onions. Ran out of green beans. Held the onions in my chicken and shrimp but held the mushrooms I ordered too. Waited a long time for food - took us 2 hours from start to finish. Very disappointing meal for our granddaughter's 1st Birthday. read more

The wait time exceeded even the outside of what was expected. It took quite a while to get our appetizer and when it came I asked for plates for the table so 4 people would not have to dip breadsticks into the same cheese container. The plates never came. By time food came to the table it was cold. The women's restroom was worse than an outhouse it smelled terrible and all the garbages were overflowing and the floor had toilet paper everywhere and every sanitizer dispenser in the place I tried was empty. This restaurant is decent and food is always as expected. The only things that REALLY gets to me is that basically with all of their younger servers, they will bring the meals out and then come over and ask if we want dessert five minutes later and then proceed to drop the check. They do this after I have literally had three bites of my dinner. I would really like to enjoy 45 minutes in a restaurant without being shoved out the door by these young servers. This never happens with the experienced servers there. Unfortunately my mother is addicted to their salads so I suppose I will be back. read more

Had the Bourbon Street Steak and it was good. However, the bartender Chas being on a power trip was a negative experience. Im 43 (almost 44) and he carded me for a beer. He claimed it was policy. I replied that id drank there before and not been carded. "Its policy" he said gain. Well, he apparently picks and chooses when he enforces (if it actually is) the policy. Another couple younger than me came and sat at the bar. They ordered mixed drinks and weren't carded. You and your employees should strive harder for consistency. That would make people's experience at your establishment much better. read more

We got there a little before noon on a Sunday. There was only two of us, and we had immediate seating since we chose to sit at the bar. Bartender working (Duane) provided excellent service. Food was good; we got the grilled chicken breast with bacon beer cheese topper and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Mashed potatoes are a little bland, but nothing salt couldn't fix. Terrible service. 45 min wait, which was fine but we ended up sitting at the bar after 20 min which was fine for us. The service was awful, and we had to beg for refills from the bartenders that were just a few steps away. My pasta came out cold and when asked if they could reheat it they seemed put out.
