Had lunch here on Saturday, Nov 1. We waited about 5-7 minutes before someone came to seat us. Once seated, the server took our order within 5 minutes. It took about 10 minutes to get our food. The salad and food we ordered was very good. The server was tentative. However my husband had to track him down to get our ticket to pay. But all in all, it was good. We will return soon. read more

We arrived for a meal Monday and had the worst experience. We arrived at 7:29 PM and ordered 2 appetizers (salad and mozzarella sticks), 2 waters, and a frozen drink. After 10 minutes, we still had no drinks so my husband had to remind the server. He brought the waters but forgot the frozen drink and walked away before we could tell him. We waited over an HOUR with no food, no appetizers, and still no frozen drink. We walked out at 8:30 PM without eating anything. Completely unacceptable service and wait time. read more

Not sure about all these negative reviews. We were there for lunch on Monday and I didn't see any of this nonsense served up by the previous reviewers. We were greeted warmly by our server and received our drinks within a few minutes. There were people coming in all the time for their lunch too. We had chicken penne, a quesadilla burger and onion soup/w grilled cheese sandwich. We also had warm brownie/w with vanilla ice cream and a pecan blonde brownie/ w ice cream. The total was $56. Compared to a regular fast food place we got more for our money. I suggest you stop by at the Applebee's for lunch one day! (one of the guys has a walnut allergy walnuts on top of the brownie). There couple of weeks ago and waiter was more interested in holding up the wall than waiting tables. Had to wait to order. Wait for food longer than usual. Had to ask him a couple of times for lemons for our tea. Etc. went back today service was slow. Again had to ask for lemons twice. Ordered hamburger and fries. This Applebee's is one of the busiest locations in the entire North Texas area- that's a really impressive feat and should show how popular they are in the area. They have a great reputation with friendly staff and consistent service. Out of all the locations I've ever been to, they have the best food for an Applebees. But what they are really known for is their drinks/night life more than their food. My all time favorite thing on their menu is the Chicken Wanton Tacos: tangy grilled chicken, sweet Asian chile sauce & dumpling sauce stuffed into crispy wonton shell. I'm not sure if it's still on the menu but it definitely should be. I love the sweet and tangy taste of these wantons. Their bread sticks are actually pretty good and tasty! CLASSIC BROCCOLI BLACKENED SHRIMP ALFREDO ($14.99) This was pretty good! Blackened Shrimp is served warm on a bed of fettuccine pasta tossed with broccoli and rich Alfredo sauce topped with Parmesan cheese. Served with a golden brown signature breadstick brushed with a buttery blend of garlic and parsley. THREE CHEESE CHICKEN PENNE ($13.99)bHard pass. Not that good. Visit on Monday night. Experience was very very basic. I get that it is a basic restaurant but I could have microwaved better frozen chicken nuggets. The bartender never came and checked on us and I had one beer for my entire meal because she never came back and checked on us and everything needed we had to grab her attention. Although she was very cute and young, she needs training on keeping an eye on all patrons and chatter to a minimum in order to watch out for the needs of everyone at the bar area. Food is not her fault and I will definitely not be going back due to the food was terrible! I had the sampler appetizers and not one thing tasted fresh. Waitress returns, I ask we just move to next booth. Okay, good to go. Our meals arrive, I am missing a side, but don't complain. Let's eat. Avoid this place. Worst dining experience we have had in years. It's obvious they microwave the majority of their food. The kids pizza was inedible, rock hard and gross as were their breadsticks. So tonight I took my mom out for her birthday! Our family planned a trip to Applebee's as we have not been here for several years. Parking lot is very well lit and clean, we came on a Saturday evening after 7 PM and were served and seated immediately. The restaurant was very clean and had a great atmosphere. We all order our drinks and decided that the table we were at was not going to work for us due to handicap reasons with my mom. We asked our waitress if we could move to a different table and pointed one out. She agreed and said it was totally fine! She then comes back to serves us drinks and takes our food order. Everyone is having a great time until this sorry joke of a manager shows up. He comes out and in front of our family and several other guest begins to belittle and insult our waitress along with other staff members! it was completely uncalled for! She was clearly shaken by the way he treated her. I don't feel you should pay to eat somewhere and feel sorry for someone dude to witnessing them get in trouble for allowing us to move. So we were there about an hour and I witnessed this manager be a little and insult the same two waitresses 3 to 4 times during our visit. Given he didn't treat everyone like this as I also saw him smile and laugh and have a conversation with the hostess during our stay. it's weird because I don't know how to write a proper review for this business because usually it's scored based on my experience and things that happened to me. However watching this unfold while I was there made it very difficult to focus on spending time with my family. This was a good and safe place for Veterans and others until now. Went to pick up my to go order, pulled in indicated on the order site that I was in the spot for delivery. 30 mins pass and not order...went inside where the to go pick-up is and no one would help me. Oh dear ... there's not much good I can say about this place except the service was just wonderful and the wait staff friendly! THAT was the only thing that kept us there .... besides the fact that there was nowhere else to go for Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving special was .... pretty bad. The turkey was like tasteless sliced lunchmeat, the greenbeans were super rubbery, the stuffing was pretty does. The mashed potatoes and the pumpkin pie were pretty good though. I have lived in this community for over 30 yrs and and I know this restaurant has not had any measurable accolades, but, wow, this was not good. Me and my girlfriend walked in and sat at the bar. There was no greeter. There was no waitress . There was no bartender to even take our order. We sat there, the only two at the bar, for a whole five minutes and during this time a elderly Caucasian lady with glasses and hair in a ponytail poked her head out from behind the back twice, but did not help us. So, finally I got up walked towards the back to ask who was working in the bar. No surprise, what looked to be the manager, pointed at the elderly Caucasian lady who poked her head behind the wall twice. This lady was leaning up against the wall talking and smiling with the group. They pointed at her and said she'll be right there. I went back to my seat and we waited a few more minute before getting up to leave. On the way out she peaked her head around the back and saw us leaving and didn't say one word. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND MANAGEMENT. I was excited when I pulled up because there were about 3 cars in the parking lot and I immediately thought "quick service"...Boy was I wrong. There was nobody there I imagine because of the service. Usually at this location in Rowlett they are sub par but Applebees has good prices on their top shelf liquor so you can look over the service. Went to Applebee's in Rowlett as it didn't look too busy for Mother's Day. Was seated fairly quick, with drinks provided equally as quick. A little slower to come take our food order, but they were short-staffed. It happens. Food came: burger under-cooked after being asked how it needed to be; dinner with mashed potatoes arrived, and the potatoes had obviously sat under the heat lamp way too long as they were rubberized and inedible. After several minutes, another server came by and we reported the potato issue, and they brought out a "fresh" dish which was an improvement. No refills offered on our drinks, never saw our initial "waiter" again, and a long wait to have them handle payment of the bill. Slow service, decline in quality of the food, and general lack of customer appreciation means we won't be going back anytime soon. If anything, service and food should be BETTER given the special day, but they either didn't plan ahead with staff or have staff that don't really care. Off the list for us! read more

I will preface this review by saying I wasn't there for a full meal, I simply came by after work with some coworkers in search of a drink or two. Our server was nice enough, he told us about the happy hour food specials, which can be summed up by four appetizers on the menu that are half off between 4PM and 6PM marked by a pen tick next to each item in the menu. Their only Happy Hour drink special was a $1 mug of Pabst Blue Ribbon, which was definitely surprising to me. BUT it was only a dollar so I ordered one and I also got Asian Chili boneless wings (because they were half off). The wings were okay, a good mix of sweet and spicy but the casing wasn't crunchy enough to be good. There were about ten of them, so I definitely think the price was worth the amount, but I would want better quality. A friend had to wait twenty minutes for their order of chips and salsa with a reminder to the waiter in the middle, so that was irksome. The bathroom's surfaces were all sticky and when we walked in it was hard to breathe because they didn't have the air on. Management left it like that until a few patrons mentioned how stuffy it was and asked them to turn on the air. I don't plan on returning to this place, honestly. read more

Honest review from some one who is not picky about his food and doesn't Yelp much , but the food had no flavor and was soggy. The server refilled our drinks 1 time after we asked him to refill it , after sitting for almost 30 minutes with the whole table of 4 having empty drinks.
