Stay Away! If you have to come here stick to the apps (and they aren't that great either). All their food is frozen and heated up by untrained "cooks". Don't be surprised to have food unbearably hot on the outside and still cold in the middle from the freezer. It is Burger King with beer. Haven't been there in awhile and we will not be going back. We have gone every couple months and had ok food. This time was a complete bust. The waiter was very nice and accommodating. The food was ridiculous. Ordered the 2/$25 meals plus appetizer. Sounds like a deal but you expect good food at $12.50 a plate. Artichoke dip was a tiny bowl with a handful of chips. Husband said his steak was tasty but dry. My "mac and CHEESE WITH CHICKEN" was a joke. 2 small chicken strips on top of ziti macaroni which had MAYBE 3Tbs of some kind of white sauce that was most certainly NOT any kind of cheese. It was tasteless and the noodles were so dry they were inedible. Apparently my hubby said the bread stick was good. So i paid $12.50 for a breadstick. Lesson learned... applebees is off our list of minimal restaurants in Oneonta. read more

I could of done better with a fire pit in the woods with a small pan. The burger was cold, not cooked right and the boneless were colder then Andrew Cuomo's heart. It's not hard to do a medium rare burger and wings with a BLT. I was also not the only person who had problem with their food. Yes, this is like any other Applebee's, all of which I normally despise. I'm not a fan of chain restaurants, but I am a fan of this location of this chain restaurant. As a Hartwick student, the happy hour here was a saving grace for me and my buddies when we didn't feel like spending a lot of money or being downtown. You really can't go wrong with the discounted appetizers and drafts. This is pretty much the only place in Oneonta not on Main St. where you can find a happy hour. This is the absolute worst Applebee's I have ever been to! I'm not even sure where to start. It took 20 minutes for them to seat us. After we got our table, we met our waiter, who may be one of the rudest people that ever existed. I ordered my drink, and we ordered our appetizers and entrees. Fast forward another agonizing 20 minutes until my drink finally arrived. Awesome! $8 for 90% ice. Appreciate it! After swallowing my drink in a single sip, our appetizers followed shortly after. No complaints about this, except the portion sizes were small. Now we waited, and waited, and waited... Finally! Oh wait, only two of five entrees. Where's the rest? Oh! They are still cooking. It took four trips in a ten minute span for all the food to come out. Some entrees were cold, others were so disgusting that we didn't want to eat it! Not to mention the rude, creepy waiter came back and stood there watching us eat. What is this, a scene from Deliverance? We mentioned we had a birthday in our group. We waited for almost 45 minutes for our food after ordering dinner. The restaurant was not very busy and the service was very, very slow. The food was disappointing after a long drive from Illinois to Cooperstown to drop our son off to play at Dreams Park and this was our first dinner with our 5 year old and 1 year old after arriving in town. Never really had a wonderful experience at applebee's and it is never the first choice. This particular visit though, was one of the worst. ordered chips and salsa for a family of four to begin with, we received a large portion of chips and barely any salsa. When we tried to request more salsa our waitress was mia. My main issue though is the lack of accommodation. No where in the menu does it say items are pre-made. I had ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich but asked if the could throw it on a wrap (as there are wraps on the menu) but the waitress informed me that they would not be willing to accommodate me bc the kitchen was busy. Number 1, I work in a restaurant and it is way simpler to put a sandwich on a wrap and 2 the waitress was not even willing to ask the kitchen for this special but simple accommodation. They were extremely short staffed, due to unexpected absences, and the manager himself came out on the floor and was assisting his staff. Great atmosphere and great people. I feel like it is my public duty to write this review. I've been to this Applebee's three times in my entire life, starting from when they opened years ago to just recently. I have ordered the bacon burger, creamy linguine pasta, and grilled chicken salad, respectively. After every single one of those meals, I've gotten violently sick from food poisoning. Not just me, the entire group of four I was with. Three times. That is TWELVE cases of food poisoning! I really do not understand how they are still in business. Given that almost all of the Applebee's food is already prepared when it gets there, something must go terribly wrong in their kitchen. I've heard from the grapevine that the kitchen is filthy and the equipment is faulty. I would not order anything from here, period. First the waitress put my drink at the corner edge of the table and I knocked it over. Someone tell the waiters and waitress to put drinks in the middle of your table. Then my order The Four Cheese Mac and Cheese Honey Chicken Tenders. There was no four cheese of anything,and the chicken was hard as a rock and dry. This is really not a restaurant so much as it is a game of chance. Will they get your order right? Will your food have seafood on the plate, even though no one at your table ordered it and you're allergic? Will their ninety billion televisions and blaring music let you have a polite conversation? We were seated quickly, as the restaurant was not busy. Our waitress also came quickly to take our drink orders. After that, is when all hell broke loose. We were seated at 7, our entree orders weren't taken until 7:30. I have a mushroom allergy, but my favorite entree(bourbon chicken and shrimp) contains mushrooms. I dine at Applebee's often, as it's one of my favorite chains. I order this same dish every time and tell them no mushrooms because I have an allergy. This has never been an issue until tonight. When my dinner came out there were mushrooms on the plate. I quickly sent the dish back because even if I inhale mushrooms, my throat begins to itch. When our server returned, she was carrying the same exact plate with the same exact shrimp and the same exact chicken. All the same food that was already sitting in with the mushrooms. And I know it was the same plate because I noticed the chicken's odd shape when they brought it out the first time. And it was "out" in under five minutes. All they did was throw the chicken back on the grill and take off the mushrooms. And then put the chicken back on the plate. Well, they didn't catch all of the mushrooms. A piece of a mushroom was sitting under one of my shrimp. The shrimp that I put in my mouth. I, of course, spit it out instantly. I told the server to just take it away. After waiting for forty-five minutes for food, and having it come out with your allergen sitting on it. Not once. But twice. You tend to lose your appetite. The server's response was "well we can't guarantee that it won't come out without the allergen." That's very true and I understand that. BUT you should be able to guarantee that you won't put something I'm allergic to, all over the plate you're bringing out to me. It wasn't just one piece. The manager didn't come out until after everyone else had already eaten and we were getting ready to leave. Initially, he asked if I was really allergic to mushrooms, or did I just not like them. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. And then he proceeded to say, if you got a salad, I could guarantee you wouldn't have any mushrooms in it because there aren't any mushrooms even near that station. But anything else on the menu I can't guarantee because the mushrooms can get into the onions and mix in and we don't even notice." OKAY. So what you're telling me is that I have to have a salad or I have to risk my life by eating here? Well lucky for you guys, I will no longer be dining at this location. And then he goes "well, I'm happy you didn't die!" And then walked away. And my margarita was all pomegranate and no margarita. read more

I was feasted on an appetizer sampler which comprised of chicken wonton tacos which were spicy and sweet with a crunchy shell, then I had some buffalo boneless wings and then I finished my feast with a lovely mini steak quesadilla. Waited 15 minutes for drinks from the bar, waited way too long for food that was burnt, got coleslaw with no dressing & to top it off the stupid machines weren't working to run our payments! We ran 4 different cards numerous with no luck so they finally get a manager, who's shirt was unbuttoned & not tucked in (looked very sloppy) who can't figure it out either, but "EVERYONE else's payments are working fine." After telling them we had been there for 2 hours & we had to get our son back to the dorms (Cooperstown) we left & said we would have to return with the payment. Don't worry, we stopped on the way back and bought stuff at a gas station to make sure our cards worked! What a BS place! DO NOT GO (unless you want to have an allergic reaction and food poisoning). Went to Applebee's in Oneonta, NY. I told the server I was Gluten Free (celiacs disease) and I chose from the gluten free menu AND asked her to double check to make sure the items were gluten free. She did and assured me they were. After eating my appetizer, I was about to pass out, in excruciating pain, and could barely stand. The appetizer was NOT Gluten Free. I have been bed ridden for the last three days because of the allergic reaction I am having for which there is NO cure for. I notified the manager that I was having a reaction and that there was something wrong within 5 minutes of eating that appetizer. She was not concerned and did not even ask how I was doing. She said she was email corporate and take the appetizer off my bill. The service is unbelievably rude and inconsiderate, especially when they gave someone food that they knew they were allergic to. I've spent a lot of money and a lot of time in Applebee's because there are not a lot of places to go in Oneonta. I have been compensated over and over in this place because the kitchen staff is horrid. They do not pay attention to the orders and they seem to take zero pride in the product they send out. You'd think they wouldn't be able to screw up food that is already prepared, but they seem to. They also (the kitchen staff) seem to be the dirtiest looking people. Applebee's had a problem with their fryer and surprise, they were almost out of business. When you fry almost everything and that piece of equipment decides to burn everything, this is a disaster. Where do I begin?? We went for lunch on Saturday. There really aren't a lot of lunch options in Oneonta. We do like to come here and sit at the bar. There is a good bartender, Garth, but he wasn't working. We walked into a disaster! I guess one of the bartenders had just quit and another person was thrown back behind the bar. Ok, stuff happens and we weren't in a hurry. This guy was trying his best but was not good. I looked around and most of the customers were waiting for their food and servers were waiting for their drink orders. The new menu is confusing! It is a jumbled mess and very difficult to navigate. The little smart pad at our area wasn't working. We ordered the bbq brisket loaded nachos and the "Kobe" meatballs for appetizers. Terrible! We got 3 tasteless meatballs and a roll on top. The nachos were dry. They don't come with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole...weird. I asked for some sour cream and salsa and was charged for them! Next I ordered the fish tacos. Tasteless and the tortilla was burned. Once again no salsa or anything. I can't remember the other thing we ordered because it took so long we cancelled it. Now for the entertainment! In the meantime, an intoxicated person walked in. The hostess immediately notified the general manager as the guy stumbled on his way to the bar. He sat next to us and another couple and preceded to take a half hour nap! (You can't make this stuff up!) I did notice the 2 managers did show up behind the bar, but I assumed it was to help the struggling bar tender. When he finally woke up the bartender asked what he could get him. At that point, the gm whispered to him. I assume she was telling him not to serve him???? Well the drunk customer got up and stumbled to the bathroom. I alerted the gm of what I observed, I guess her plan was to just watch him and wait for him to leave. What!!!! She didn't call him a cab, didn't notify mall security and didn't call the police. Mind you he was not served any drinks there and arrived drunk. I asked if she was waiting for him to get back in his car and kill someone, or smash into a couple parked cars? She said there was nothing for her to do. He is publicly intoxicated in your restaurant, sleeping at the bar and bothering paying customers!! Long story short.
