Service was also very good. Olivia was very attentive to our needs and even helped clear up a mix-up at the end when we ordered a dessert to go. Thanks Olivia! If I had any complaints, it would be the inconsistent quality of the ketchup. There were 7 of us at our table and we ran out of ketchup. We ended up using the ketchup bottles from a few tables around us and some of them were just downright foul tasting. I'm not sure what the issue is here, but definitely room for improvement. This was our first time at the Stout Ale House. I'd be willing to try it again to see if the experience stays consistent.

We brought a small bag of McDonald's in with us and after we'd been seated the manager stormed up to our table saying "we're a restaurant. You can't have outside food. You need to leave." In shock but understanding we said "we understand but our son only eats McNuggets and we're going to order." She angrily says "you need to leave. Go eat in your car". All 4 adults stood there dumbfounded and said "I'm sorry?" And again she barks "I'm not asking. I'm telling. You have to leave". We had every intention of ordering food and drinks and only needed our son to eat something. I get if you need outside food to be left outside but I've never been so aggressively approached and yelled at without giving a chance to agree to leave before being told to eat in my car and get out Never again at this place.

My wife's chicken wrap was more like a log because it was so filled with the tasty ingredients. My sandwich was my first time for a BLT that had two added ingredients: an over-easy fried egg and a slice of cheddar cheese. It was delicious. In fact, I will request the egg and cheese on future BLT's. And no, the traditional BLT flavor was not overwhelmed by the added flavors, it was enhanced! All in all, our dining experience was excellent and the added bonus of reasonable prices. When we get near Menomonee we will dine here again!

Maybe it is because I work too hard over the course of the year, or because big city bars aren't all their cracked up to be, but spending a few late December evenings at Andy's strikes me as a nearly perfect way to end the year. The fish on the walls, the numerous softball trophies displaying local athletic prowess, and a neon sign that reminds us all to, "Keep it Golden, Minnesota." What more could you really want? Pitchers run around $7 and its easy to start a tab. Trivia during much of the year is on Friday evenings, but they postpone the competition while the college kids are home. The crowd is quite a bit younger during Spring Break, River City Days, and the Holidays. The crowd is more mixed locals during the rest of the year. My minor critiques of this bar (I'm being tough on them, but come on, I gave them five stars) - from time to time I've strolled upstairs to gawk at the people I went to high school with below; why is nobody ever up there hanging out? My sister responds to this complaint by saying, "Its really cold up there!" When my friends and I have failed to find a table we've gone up there to chill out, narcissistically thinking the party will just follow us - but it never does and we're forced to dart downstairs to grab a table later on. The one positive comment I've heard about the upstairs comes from an out of towner who married a local. She once told me, "It is great to go up there so that I can can spy on who my husband talks to all night." Also, maybe it is the fact that I've had a couple drinks over the course of the evening, but the juke box tends to get LOUD by the end of the night. Man alive, it is hard to have a conversation by the end of the festivities at Andy's. All in all, this is one of my favorite bars in Red Wing. The location on Old West Main is another thing that makes Kelly's special. There's a wonderful view toward the river and the railroad tracks, and I love just sitting there watching the trains go by and taking in the scenery. It has that unmistakable Red Wing atmosphere that makes the whole experience even better. Great food, great service, a beautiful setting, and consistency every time I've been there. My oldest son ordered a pizza with banana peppers, mushrooms, and pepperoni, and instead he got a pizza with green peppers, no mushrooms, and a little bit of pepperoni. My husband ordered a burger which he said was dry and so dry in fact he had to remove part of his bun (he is NOT a picky eater). I ordered a Rachel. My sandwich was incredibly dry and the only reason I almost finished it was because there was no way I was letting a 15.00 sandwich go to waste.... My oldest daughter ordered a cheese quesadilla and it was comparable to something she could have made herself (age 9) and thrown in the microwave. My youngest daughter (age 3) ordered a grilled cheese and it was so bad that she refused to eat it. I tried it and it tasted like wax. Velveeta cheese does not make a good grilled cheese especially when it's cold by the time you get to eat it. It was inedible, we ended up throwing it away. The only person who got decent food was my second son who ordered a 12" pepperoni pizza. He said it was pretty good. I will say this place serves "bar food". We will not be returning. The waitress did take the messed up pizza off of our bill (we appreciated that) but, if she had checked up on us earlier, he could have just had a new one made... I fully understand that it was busy, but it's still not an excuse for poor service and bad food. I have worked in restaurants from low end to high end, so I know how it works. We would have appreciated a check in from our waitress and a smile at least... She could have been having a bad day, but don't take that out on the customer. At least the hostess was friendly.
