The waitress was cleaning vents right near us. The manager did tell her to move to the back. Then not sure if washed hands or not? Brought the ultimate appetizers. We asked for plates as was sharing. She proceeded to go talk to guy at the bar while we sit waiting on plates. I yelled excuse me but ignores me. She finally left and went after plates. I called her why that was more important than getting plates while our food got cold. Than just never came back around. I again hollered excuse me to a manager for check and to go box. Nice location and good decor. The good: my bourbon street steak was cooked perfectly as I asked for; pink on the middle, garlic potatoes were excellent. Service was prompt and food came out quickly. Waitress came over right away and was friendly. The bad: when I walked in the hostess and two waitresses were engaged in a conversation and all three didn't acknowledge I was standing there. It was an awkward 30 to 45 seconds of standing there not knowing if I should interrupt and ask for a table or just walk past them to the bar. Eventually the hostess greeted me and sat me. The second thing was the steak - while it was cooked perfectly for me, it had WAAAYYY too much black pepper and took away from the taste. Thirdly the Caesar salad had WAY too much dressing on it - it is supposed to be tossed in the dressing not soaked in it. We arrived on a Sunday at 1pm. They were less than half full. We were told The kitchen was "overrun" and they couldn't put any orders in. So we asked for drinks. About 5 minutes later they were able to enter our order. Bartender was scattered so service was sketchy. We got chips and salsa - chips were stale so she brought another batch - they were stale too. The mozzarella sticks were good and quesadillas were good. Spinach dip - not so much. We don't have many restaurant choices in Marshall but we won't be returning to this one. read more

This was an exceptional visit! Our waitress Katrina was so kind and helpful! I felt like she was on top of everything! Our drinks never ran out, our chips were refilled immediately, and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and prices! The restaurant was clean and they were able to accommodate guests even though the city has a boil notice going on. read more

This place has been hot or cold for us over the years. Sometimes we would rate the whole experience as an "A" and other times as a "C." The food is usually good and sometimes we have really enjoyed it. Service varies on different people obviously. The atmosphere is like any other Applebee's. So, when we go it seems to be a crapshoot of sorts but overall it's okay. read more

Absolutely terrible service but the food was okay. Jorden was our server on Sunday 1/22/23 and one of my friends food was given to a different table and then it took about 20 minutes before she got her tenders which take about 7 minutes to cook. They also said they were slammed and the restaurant was hardly full. The manager came and talk was transferred here and has been here for about 2 weeks so I'm assuming she's trying to fix the problems at this location and she also fixed the ticket for the tenders. read more

Best food I've had in Marshall! Service and food were both great, I ate there twice in the same day.

I ordered soup and a ceasar salad on door dash from Applebee's in Marshall, TX. 1st my Dasher went inside and asked on 3 different occasions what was taking so long. When I received my order, I received no salad dressing and paid for extra, but received none. I also received a fork and knife, but no spoon for my soup. When I looked at the salad there was no parmigian or croutons on the salad. I paid over $6 for a handful of Romain lettuce. I called the restaurant to voice my complaint and asked to talk to a manager. I was put on hold for over 25 minutes when I finally hung up. This restaurant is ridiculous and their customer service is terrible. Don't waste your time or money wasting here. read more

Only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because of the servers. Other than that, I don't think I'd consider coming here again. This place is not the most sanitary. The booths and table are sticky and the bar is surrounded by gnats. The music in there was blasting and I had trouble hearing my friend well. I got the classic combo and it tasted pretty alright, just took a hot sec coming out the kitchen. I understand that Covid has hurt many restaurants, but this trip was terrible for any standards. Our waitress came to get drink orders with nothing to write on. Many waitresses do this, but if you can't remember what people order, you should write it down. She forgot half the drinks. Same thing with our food orders. She had to come back after taking them to verify what she put in was right! We had to flag down another server to get silverware and napkins after she brought out our appetizers. Our food came out in slow waves. Half were done eating before the others had their food. The soda machine was out(no problem) so they brought us canned drinks. I hate to pile on the poor reviews, but this Applebee's has gone downhill. On a recent visit, we were handed dirty, sticky menus. Our server was prompt and friendly, but she had to apologize for management's mistakes: the restaurant was out of lemonade, Dr Pepper and Sprite. When our food came, I asked for Tabasco. They were out of that, too. The margarita I had was weak and had little flavor. Almost everyone in the place couldn't help but notice that the bartender was struggling with a blender that was making awful sounds.. like it had seen better days.. sort of like the restaurant itself. Greeting upon arrival less than happy and nice. This is at 7:51 PM on Friday night. Seated at table, server finally approaches us and takes our drink order. Returns over 5 minutes later and drops off drinks and disappears. The place is less than 1/2 full. Not busy at all. She returns, takes our order and it takes 41 minutes to deliver a chicken salad, 4 cheese mac with chicken strips and grilled chicken and potatoes. No manager ever stopped by. No explanations as to why it took 40+ minutes to get our food. The general feel is we are inconveniencing the staff as they have other things they'd like to be doing. read more

I ate at the Applebee's in Marshall, TX and it had to be one of the absolute worst meals of my life...I made a mistake of ordering a steak - rare. Out came the thinnest meat possible that was grayish in color and not a hit of pink. It was impossible with that thin of a meat to put it on the grill and flip it even without cooking out all the red. Visited this one last night and I ordered the Parmesan shrimp steak. This was absolutely uneatable piece of meat. I've never eaten cardboard but it would probably been more digestible. I had a terrible experience at Applebee's in Marshall. My waitress was awesome, but the management was not. I ordered a salad and found a RAZOR BLADE in my salad. I never had a manager come over, but the waitress did all she could. I called corporate while I was in the restaurant, and the manager over heard me talking to them so then, and ONLY THEN did they become concerned, and gave me a card for a free entree(which I will NOT be using). They didn't even take the salad off my bill. So watch out people. read more

Came in with several friends around 10 P.M. we sat at five tables. We were told that since we w ere such a large group it would be an hour or longer before they could serve any food. We had no problem with this. A few minutes later we were told we couldn't get any food, but could have drinks. Again we were okay with this, knowing they were short staffed. Our drink orders were very slow in coming. A short time later other people came In and occupied three separate tables. This location acquired new management and the service got much better - for a while. After firing the best bartender they had - Jessica - the day time shift went back to hell. The kitchen manager is serving drinks at the bar, the bartender they replaced her with doesn't have a clue what she is doing and the place is poorly managed - yet again. We dropped in at this Applebee's a little after 2PM on our way through town. It took a while for our server to take our meal order, then he came by the table to tell us it might take a while to get our food because they were taking advantage of the afternoon lull to clean the kitchen. That's right, they we're too busy doing other things to cook our food. A while later, still no entrees, the waiter asked if we were ready for our bill. When I told him we'd like our food first and asked him how long it would be, he said it depended on how long it takes the kitchen staff to complete their side work. In the end it took over an hour before our meals were served. My husband works at a really good restaurant in Houston and I asked him if they ever told their customers they had to clean the kitchen instead of cooking food. We just laughed and laughed. My group of four walked in and almost all the tables was covered with dirty glasses and plates. We got seated by the busboy because the hostess could care less we were there. He sat us by the bathrooms and had to be the one to take our drink order because the waitress didn't want to do her job. We got our two teas and two waters and the teas was sour and stunk, the waters was from the tape clearly it wasn't filtered water. When our waitress finally came to take our order she had a attitude with not only us but the table in front as well and very disrespectful. As soon as I seen it I went in search for the waitress which whom took her time coming to me. As I told her what we seen and asked how much we owe her she acted as if she could've cared less. It's an Applebee's, pretty much like every other Applebee's in the world. They are great for big groups. It's almost entirely staffed by college students, so understandably service is hit or miss, but let's be honest here, this is Marshall, it's not like there are a lot of options. Sat at the bar and the bartender was almost nonexistent. I am not sure if this was because management tasked her with other duties, or if she was just texting behind the wall. I think the former. I probably would have asked the manager, but I don't think that there was one on duty tonight. If there was a manager, I didn't see him/her. I felt like I was being rushed out, after I finished my wings my bill was slapped in front of me, however my intention was to have a few beers before going to bed. This has been the oddest Applebees that I have ever been to, usually the bar area is fun, however this site seemed to treat the bar patrons as a nuisance.
