We stopped in at about 9:30 at night. We were greeted and seated very quickly and were off to a good start. There was a table two groups away from us that had a party of 5 that were drinking shots pretty heavily and were clearly intoxicated. The waiter must have cut them off but the manager came over and had him serve them another round of doubles. They were clearly over served as when they were leaving, the rest of the staff were talking about how drunk they were. As for our experience, the food came out hot and quickly but the burger had been over salted to the point that you could brush salt off of it. I appreciated the service. The restaurant was clean, the staff were kind, the food looked good, it just didn't taste good. We didn't mention the issue but this won't be my go to late night stop in the future. Maybe they would be better during normal dinner hours. In the future I would stick with their late night app specials. Went to Applebee's and spent $30 on dinner for me, my wife and daughter. I live maybe 2-3 miles away, so I get home and I already had made her some mashed potatoes so all we needed to do was plate up our food. First off I had to put the fries in my air fryer because they weren't even warm, then the ribs look like they've been sitting under a heating lamp for the last hour and they are super dry, we had to use our own sauces, then to top it off as I'm picking the hard core pieces out of my salad, I noticed this little black thing, so I start poking at it and looked closer and it's a fricking bug/fly in my damn Caesar salad!! They were NOT busy when I came up there, maybeeeee had like 6 cars in the whole parking lot, one person who just pulled off from the car side to go and then me pulling up to get car side but I ran in for it so I just don't understand why everything was not made freshly. I'm very disappointed in the service and the food tonight. The car side to go guy was nice but other than that tonight makes me not want to spend anymore money there. I used to live near this Applebee's so for a little while it was my go-to spot for their 1/2 off appetizer deals. I seemed to have better service at this location than any other. Our waitress was also our bartender. She was really nice and attentive. We ordered mozzarella sticks and chicken wonton tacos as far as food and I had the new Shark Bite cocktail, and my mom had a few long islands from the happy hour menu. For the last few years or so they (most locations) have been doing specialty cocktails and $1-$2 drink specials every month. I mainly go for those. Food isn't that great to me, at least it's not as good as it used to be years ago. I started writing this review with the above experience and originally rated it 4/5 stars but dropped it down to 2/5 because of a more recent experience. You can read below if you want. I'm well aware of cold/flu season, and the last week we experienced polar vortex so I know it's rough. Our waitress sneezed over our table and drinks and sounded like she had a bad cold. I'm pretty sure she shouldn't have been handling food while sick. Grossed us out. When she left our table she went back towards the door to sit more people vs going to wash her hands. It's a health risk we take eating out though. We have no idea of what's going on in the kitchen. We ordered the double crunch bone in wings, when they came to the table the celery was covered in dirt (like we rubbed some off to confirm that it was dirt and the celery had not been washed), the waitress understood our concern about the dirty celery and took it back to the kitchen. Usually most places don't even serve the butt of celery (I don't know what that part is really called but it's the end of the celery stick where it turns white & a lot dirt is ALWAYS trapped in that part). Later a manager brought out a new plate of wings and asked if everything else had been okay. They took it off our bill but then put it back on. Which is fine. It was half off for happy hour. Honestly by time the wings came back out we were so grossed out and wished our waiter came back so we could have just canceled them. After sending the wings back she never returned. We even had to asked another manager to bring us a box as we could see 4 wait staff standing by the kitchen hanging out. We paid on the kiosk at the table since we didn't know if she would return to offer to bring us a check but whatever. It was another one of those regretful decisions to eat & drink vs just get the drinks & get the hell out! Side note: the February Mardi Gras drinks are really good! The $1 hurricane is really good. My steak was questionable. I had to reorder and it was still questionable. It looked old. I asked for medium rare and it looked like raw chicken. SUPER light pale pink. Like. How do they even get the steak to look like that. The broccoli was boiled to mush. Like perfect for your grandma with no teeth. The only thing decent was the mashed potatoes. But the thing that made me write this was the prime rib sandwich that was quite possibly the best sandwich I have ever had at any restaurant. I have eaten at 1000s of restaurants in my 53 years. (I worked construction on the road for years) and I can't remember a sandwich I enjoyed as much as this. Coupled with the fact that the curbside to go delivery person was super friendly and the food was on time and fresh makes me feel that I owe it to them to tell others. Well today was an example of the passive aggressive waiter revenge for an apparently low tip prematurely. As my 7 year old daughter and I waited for the to go box for the remainder of the kids meal she was not able to finish, our waiter named Will, came to the table and politely placed a crumpled copy of the remotely paid receipt for our meal showing a tip that represented 9% of the bill directly in front of me. I asked for the to go box again and he politely said he would bring it right over. Passing out table a total of 4 times and even looking back at us from the waiters area as if looking for someone besides us, he refused to bring the to go box. Unbeknownst to Will, it is my policy to pay the majority of tips in cash when prompted by a device to pay at the table to expedite the process. So, in the end, I was delivered the To Go box by another waiter who had to finish the service process that was Wills designated area of service. HORRIBLE! I now wish there was a way to remove the tip entirely! When a person goes to a restaurant it is the duty of the servers, cooks and management to ensure their experience is pleasurable and relaxing. At no time does the appearance of a small tip dictate the end result because the waiter or waitress does not know the mind or heart of the customer. So, if you are ever at this location and Will is your server, remind him to take a look at the Yelp reviews before he forgets that the customer is King at all times. read more

If you are worried about Covid - and it's summer of 2020 - do not go here. Maybe in a few months or next year. If you're an Applebee's lover like we are, there's one close in Roseville that's better managed. My family loves Applebee's and we were so excited to return. We live close. But we will drive farther until we have more confidence regarding Covid. We felt exposed, unsafe, and unheard. We saw tables seated just a few feet away fr each other, parties of 6+, and even toddlers seated alone together (running back and forth as little kids do) so the parents could hang out. It must be hard to hire mangers right now willing and able to uphold regulations that keep us safe. The manager on duty did nothing and said nothing. If our waiter had not diffused the situation and found us a safe table, we would have had to leave. We did see the manager walk by our table more than once; he must have been too scared to approach us due to the blatant disregard for safety. Good luck Applebee's in Fridley!! Decent food and service, what you'd expect from an Applebees. One thing I can say about Applebees is that they are remarkably consistent everywhere you go, whenever you happen to go there. I've never had a bad experience at any of their locations, anywhere in the U.S. My only negative comment from yesterday is that the artichoke, spinach, cheese dip sucks! Try as I might, the only spec of artichoke I could find anywhere, swimming in cheese, was a small leaf about the size of my fingernail. I don't think I'm much of a complainer or even possess very high expectations, however, it has been a long time since I received such poor service. I'm currently sitting at the bar after finishing my one beer, my water (which I requested), and my plate is now moved to the side after I placed it there. It has been this way for roughly 20-30mins. I was excited to come in to try the bottomless fries with the burger (fries are my favorite). I sat down about 5 before 9pm. The bar and most of the restaurant was very slow. About 3-4 mins after sitting down the bartender came over and asked, "What do you want to drink?" No name, no "Hello", no "How's it going?"...nothing except for "What do you want to drink?". Went through the process of ordering my drinks, and subsequently food, with the same demeanor of short answers and having to request everything from information to a fry refill. The fry refill took 15mins in itself to come out and only after I asked how long they normally took to come out. She went to the kitchen and within seconds came back out with a bowl of fries. The entire meal I had no drink refill even though my glass stayed empty for the majority of the time. I think the thing that ultimately pissed me off and took the bartender's tip from my normal 20% or more to 0% was her consistently standing at the other end of the bar with a guy she was apparently on a Tinder date with based on what she was saying to the other customers at that end of the bar. The food was delicious, the hostess was gracious, the service at the bar was abismal. As I just received my check, the bartender in question is named Aleasha. We usually only do Applebee's after Christmas because my brother and sister-in-law have an obsession with giving us gift cards there. The last time we were at this location was probably NYE of about 2011. I slipped on refreeze going out to my car, and because I was still icing and taking ibuprofen for my knee, I reported it about a week after the fact. Never sought out medical attention, but the corporate person I spoke to made me feel like a real idiot with questions like "Didn't you know that this is Minnesota and there is ice here in the winter time?" Anyway, this visit. I have an issue with cilantro (which seems to land in about 90% of their dishes and one of their waitresses once asked me if I was allergic when I said something) but I like their wings, so I usually don't make it past the appetizer menu. No exception, but I found a new fave: The sweet potato fries. Oh.. yummy. My son (age 8) ordered a chicken quesadilla. No mention on the menu of pico de gallo, which I think was in it... didn't look real closely, but I agree with the kid. Chicken quesadilla is a shell, cheese, and chicken. Had no issues getting it remade, so we're good there. There were too many employees standing around when they could've been filling our drinks and taking our gift cards. My broken-footed body went to the restroom, used it, and came back, and the gift cards were still sitting where I left them. I give them "better than usual" on this visit. Honestly the worst Applebee's I've been to for many reasons: 1) the service is terrible. I'm not one to judge something after the first try, so I came back for another few times because maybe it was just the waitress. I was wrong. I'll explain why. 2) the waiter(esses) literally make you feel like you're invisible. They're serve someone right behind you and just walk right by without asking for help, even after making direct eye contact and waving for them to come over. It's ridiculous, how do they even get things done around there? They'll ask you for drinks and then disappear for 20 minutes, my waitress only came back to my table when I pressed the "call waiter" over on their little tablet thing. She then told me that she'd fill up my water and finally get our dessert, but surprise surprise, we were there for another 20 minutes AND I DIDNT HAVE MY WATER. 3) my waitress was rude. Who brings out dessert the same time as they bring out entrees? Isn't that just common sense? After 20 minutes of finishing my meal and trying to wave her over and to fill up my water, she finally comes out and asks, "would you like your dessert now or...?" in such a sassy tone. Maybe it was just my waitress, but it's happened multiple times with different waiters. 4) they serve your food COLD. LITERALLY COLD. I was there earlier tonight and it was unusually empty (St. Patrick's Day I guess) so I don't understand why the service was so bad and my food was COLD. There was nobody there! Did an order for pick up last night. Now I understand it was a Saturday and they were busy and all but give accurate times. When I called in the order I was told 11 minutes. I got there right on time and then waited for 25 minutes for my food, which I finally had to walk in and ask for either my food or money back. If you knew you were busy why not say it will be 30 minutes instead of 11? Then people won't be sitting there waiting. There was another car out there that sat also the as long as me. For the inconvenience they put a coupon in my bag for a free order of Mozzarella sticks... which expired on January 15th.....nice, real nice. I love applebee's but I normally only order to pick up. Yesterday my girlfriend and I decided to have a sit down dinner here. The first thing my girlfriend heard after the waitress sat us was, one of the male waitress saying he didn't want to serve us. Minutes later we were greeted by a really nice female waitress. Everything seemed fine at first. But I started to notice my girlfriend and I had to wait longer time when we needed help, but another table across from us had 3 different waiters assisting them and constantly asked them how their food was and if they needed anything else. I don't know what it is but this place gave me a really bad vibe. Currently there now and the service was aweful! The waiter got the food wrong. When we first were seated we didn't even have silverware. My dad waited while the waiter walked by multiple times before he was asked if he needed a refill. We waited almost an hour for service. Apparently half priced apps means half the food. Ok, it's my bad for keep coming back. I am a sucker because it's close, but it never fails to disappoint! DO NOT ORDER ONLINE! They don't read how you would like your order ever. Tonight, after having behaved and not ordered in over three months from Applebees, we order online for Carside to Go. Ordered a kid's corndog with fries, burger with no lettuce pickle or tomato with fries, and a southwestern steak salad with the options given to me online: I checked the boxes no corn salsa and no tortilla strips. After ordering online, I am confirmed it should be done at 7:10pm. My husband gets there at 7:12pm, all carside to go spots are taken, so he parks right next to the parking spots (I had to give make/model/color of his car). He waits there for 15 minutes and finally goes in and is like I have been waiting here since 7:12 and no one came to me and I have been sitting there with my window down. Cashier says he will check on it, then my husband asks if it has been sitting there for awhile, and the cashier doesn't say yes or no, but that they will now make a fresh one. Husband waits another 10 minutes, comes home and we open our meals, his has lettuce, both bags of fries are cold, and the salad I ordered no pink steak with no tortilla strips and no corn salsa comes bloody red, and at the bottom of the lettuce and steak is a WHOLE layer of tortilla strips and corn salsa.
