Excellent service, Jackson represents in the best possible way! Food is always good! But service always exceeds my expectations!!!

Eating at chain restaurants is not my choice, living in this area, there are few family owned and or operated restaurants, so you are forced to cook at home or go to chain restaurants. Friday afternoon I chose to skip making a sandwich at home and order a burger at the Applebees in Elgin off of Randall. Typical chain restaurant food; frozen before by Sysco or some large distribution company, hard non-greasy fries, and well done burger when asked for a medium with pink in middle,(was the cooks fault like usual). OK. The only reason I gave this restaurant so many stars is because of the outstanding service I had. A short blonde girl, names Katie, was on top of her game. My family & I were traveling through to Western Wisconsin. The dining experience was very good, but unfortunately, my daughter left her sweatshirt at the restaurant and we didn't realize it until we were a good 2-3 hours away. What was most impressive was that when I called the restaurant to make arrangements to have them ship it back to us was that the manager, Connor, took care of it right away and offered to pay for the shipping themselves! When I told them that I would pay or reimburse them, Connor say that he would not hear of it and was happy to do so. Would give zero stars if I could. We showed up at 7 to grab dinner and there were only 5 of us. I had seen online they were open until 8pm. When we walked in, the kid at the stand was all flustered like he was trying to find seats for us as if we just walked in with 10 people and said he'd have to go talk to someone about where to seat us while there were SEVERAL tables open, one of which right in front of us that sat 6. He came back out and told us "so we're pretty busy right now and close at 8 so if something doesn't open up in 5-10 minutes, we can't find room for you." Word for word. Never in my life have I heard of a restaurant saying something so unprofessional and rude. Management should be ashamed of THATS the way they run their restaurant and I hope everyone that was currently eating in that restaurant ends up staying there two hours past closing time just to piss them off cause what they essentially said was "we don't wanna serve you so we can leave at 8." This was the worst service food and environment of a restaurant that i have ever been in. The food took forever to get even though the restaurant was empty the service was terrible. The food tasted like plastic . I am just in awe at how terrible this experience was. read more

After being seated quite quickly, we waited for a waitress for over 10 minutes. We flagged another employee down and she got our waitress. She apologized (after that, she was extremely attentive-her name was Marissa W). We got the 2 for 25 plus 2 French onion soups. Appetizer was onion rings (amazing!!), hubs got the butchers meat and potatoes (he said it was good) however I got the 4 cheese Mac and cheese (chicken on top was good, however the pasta sauce was horrific, rendering it inedible). Waitress asked if I wanted a box, I said no because it was awful and had no intention of bringing it home. Got the bill and nothing was taken off. Shocked. At least allow the customer to get another entree, or take off a soup, something. We drove about an hour to come here, because of the gift card I had. Next time, just gonna re-gift it. So normally I don't like to Yelp chains like this...but this just had to be done. I will start with the good...the food. My friend and I split the Trio thing with the crispy chicken sandwiches, steak quesadilla towers and the honey bbq boneless wings. That was actually very tasty. My friend ended our lunch with a Chocolate Mousse shooter, which she loved! Then there was the server...that is another story. He seemed stoned out of his mind and talked in a mono-tone voice the entire time! When my friend got up to go the bathroom, he stopped at our table and was like, "Did I take your order yet?" and I thought he said, "Are you ready to order yet?" So I said, "Yes." and he was like, "I did?" and I'm like, "you did what?" Then I realized what he was thinking and said...no you haven't taken our order yet (even though we had been sitting there at least 10-15 minutes!!). The atmosphere was dull, probably due to the time of day, but then I feel that the servers should make up for the not-so-hopping atmosphere by being at least a but uppity instead of being Debbie and Dougie Downers!!! Love the combo lunch specials. Their tomato basil soup is the bomb for lunch. The croutons on it too yum. Good service at reasonable prices.

My friend and I went here for lunch today, both of us ordered french onion soup and that was the only thing that came out correct. For an appetizer we ordered mozzerilla sticks, they were brought out and were not fully cooked, had to send them back. Our meals were brought out, I had the 4 mac and cheese with chicken fingers. I asked for the chicken and sauce on the side of the plate. Chicken was still put on top of the mac and cheese. My friend asked for Mayo on the side, for her sandwich, no mayo on the side. She also asked for another song once again they did not bring that. I would not suggest going back, I am not sure if it was our server Marissa's fault or the kitchen, but there needs to be better communication between the two. Unfortunately, the manager was not going from table to table to check in on their customers - we waited for awhile but had to get to the movie we previously bought tickets for. read more

Enjoyed the 2 for $20 for Father's Day. The Onion ring appetizer was best we ever had - came quickly and hot with a delicious coating! The waitress kept the drink refills coming on a 90 degree day without ever being asked. The sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and crunchy veggies was perfect. My husband enjoyed his shrimp and chicken plate as well. We have always enjoyed our visits to this Applebee's and plan on returning! read more

Parents of children with allergies beware! It could've been a bad day, but when we tell the manager and waitress about the two children with allergies, the waitress accidentally wrote chicken tenders instead of grillers. Grillers for the 17 month old who's allergic to dairy and of course the tenders have dairy. Manager was apologetic, took the two children's meals off the bill. Later on tho, rash, getting sick, everything. They need more training. A simple oops like that could've costed a life. Glad they owned up to their mistake, but again, could've been deadly. read more

Walked in and was immediately greeted by the host who seemed to know someone of our party and shook his hand. We were a party of 7 and some of the group wanted to be seated in sight of the TVs to watch the motorsport relays and the staff was happy to accommodate us. Found us a big table and changed two of the TVs to the desired channels, informing us our server would be with us shortly. The place is newly remodeled and looks clean, open, and nicely up-to-date and not too loud, it is like your typical TGI Fridays, Chili's, Applebee's, etc. As our waitress was apparently busy, another server got us started with our drinks in the meantime and informed us of the daily drink special. Waitress took our food order, we had no issues when our food came, and she made sure to keep our drinks filled and us happy in general. Food was, likewise, like your typical average Applebee's, Chili's, etc. so it was perfectly fine. Prices are good. I had a bowl of French Onion soup that cost no more than $3.50. All in all, I was happy with the experience. Staff was great, manager came to check in on us as well, I like the updated look (bar seems nice if you just want a drink and maybe some appetizers), and I have no complaints! read more

We arrived at 6:00 PM and were seated within 5 min. although the restaurant was full. The first thing we noticed was that the service was S L O W ! We were completely ignored for over 10 minutes. Our waiter finally took our orders and then disappeared for another 10 minutes. My wife had ordered a small sirloin steak and I ordered a full rack of ribs. Eventually we got our beverages and some time later our food. Not only was service slow, but our waiter appeared to be disorganized. He forgot to ask me what kind of sauce I wanted on my ribs and I had to call him over and remind him I had ordered a glass beer with my meal. When our food arrived was OK but nothing great and certainly did not compensate for the slow service, and the portions were on the small side. I only got half my ribs initially and had to wait about 20 minutes for the other half. I've never been to a restaurant before where I've received my main course in installments. The place appears to be quite popular judging by the number of cars in the parking lot whenever I drive by in the evening, so maybe our experience of slow and disorganized services was atypical. At any rate the combination of so-so food, slow service and a noisy atmosphere make it unlikely that we will return anytime soon. read more

I feel bad giving this place 2 stars but the service is just horrible. After waiting almost 10 minutes the manager finally comes to take our drink order, she then serves us our drinks and asks for our dinner order. Basically, the manager did way more work than our server. We came on a Saturday night around 6 so we figured it would be packed but there were a good amount of empty tables and now we know why! So many employees were standing around or just being unprofessional. We saw a group of servers standing in a circle talking. I feel bad for the manager because she seems nice but does all the work for her employees. I really doubt this restaurant will stay around much longer unless they make some major adjustments. We were so looking forward to our 10th Anniv celebration at Applebee's . We are on a tight budget, and expected Applebee's to still be a decent value for decent food. What huge disappointment. Staff was friendly, but that doesn't make up for $50 down the drain for extremely lousy food. I just spent half an hour on their survey describing the food and don't want to repeat it here. Suffice it to say the all you can eat ribs were dog food, and the chicken penne tasted right out of a jar, and not a good jar. read more

I saw that Applebees had a big redesign, so I thought that I would give them a try. I had been many times over the years and have always thought the food was just average. It turns out nothing has changed. Coming here for drinks or appetizers may be fine, but I do not see myself eating dinner here anytime in the near future. read more

My family and I went there last night. My husband and I ordered the 2 for 20 and I ordered the steak. I wanted mashed potatoes and broccoli. They were out of broccoli. I wanted a strawberry lemonade. They were out of strawberry. I asked for my steak medium rare. When I got my food, my steak was so rare I could barely cut into it. So the server brought it back, and brought me back a new steak. It was burnt on the outside and had no flavor. I got a double order of mashed potatoes due to them being out of broccoli. The mashed potatoes were rubbery. My husband ordered the cajun shrimp and steak. His was fine, except one side of his chicken was burnt. My daughter ordered the very hungry shrimp kids meal band when she got it there was a whole whopping 4 pieces. Not enough to feed a 10 year old, so I gave her most of my potatoes and part of my steak. As soon as we got home, my husband and I got sick. We will never visit an Applebee's again. This is the second time I have been to this Applebee's and onece again was surprize at the low quality of the food that they serve. The spinach dip must have come out of can. It was thin and soupy and didn't have any taste. The chicken and shrimp dish was also tasteless with a thick cloppy sauce that congealed on the shrimp. This was served over a bed of some what greasy rice that had greasy sauted peppers and onion which were suppose to make this dish healthy. Now I do have to give the high mark on the margarita but it would be nice to have the price listed so they is no surprise when you get the bill. Also the staff was well trained although with all the "have a nice day" as we left made me think that everybody took a happy pill before they started work. So if this chain want to stay in business they should increase the quality of their food. I would never go back and we only went since we had a gift card. read more
