Wow. This was a REALLY bad experience. Sunday afternoon around 11:30, the place was half empty but it STILL took FOREVER for a waitress to come take our orders. They just don't have enough coverage. Food: Appetizers came out. Then the entrees came out. Neither were hot. Neither were that tasty. They were obviously sitting around the kitchen while our waitress ran around the many tables for which she was responsable. We had the Tilapia, Riblets and 3 Cheese Penne. Meh. Meh. Meh. Drinks: Milkshakes were mostly milk. Not that thick, not that good. Service: The waitress... I can't really fault the chick because she did have a lot of tables to service. However, I would have liked another drink, I would have liked a glass of water. Didn't get either cause they never brought water to the table and she never once returned to our table to see if everything was ok. We had to flag her down just to get the check. However in short it was a 90 minute experience of trying but terrible service and an overcooked burger that wasn't to my expectations I stated upfront. Upon entry it took about 5 minutes to seat us even though there wasn't a line and the restaurant was busy but there were seats available. I took probably 30 minutes before someone came to my table to take my order it took a total of 45 minutes before I got offered water and served drinks. It took about 20 minutes for the appetizers I ordered to arrive and it took another 10 minutes for the burger to arrive. The boneless wing were good...average tasting nothing to write home about. The burger which I ordered to be cooked medium was cooked well done. I had to wait for another burger and at that time I was ready and had to leave so I had a few bites of a burger that tasted dry. The fries was good, average tasting, nothing special there either. If you come here just know what you're walking into and you'll be okay. However I'm glad my friend chose it or else I would have tried something else at gateway center. We ordered 2 for $20 and 2 for $27 that came with an appetizer to share and two entrees. The 2 for $20 we got the following: spinach and cheese dip - yummy Asian chicken salad - not enough chicken Bacon Burger - big and delicious and comes with fries! The 2 for $27, we ordered the following: Honey BBQ chicken bites - yummy and crunchy 6 oz steak with 2 sides - I asked for medium but it came out to be overcooked, a little rough Chicken four cheese pasta - yummy Next time I'm going to stick with the 2 for $20 since the burger was so worth it. read more

The food was alright, the drinks were meh and the service was not good at all. There wasn't much people here and the service was so slow. Our waitress wasn't able to answer any of our questions and instead of trying to find out the answers she tried to ignore them. We had to ask her repeatedly. It was a very strange experience. Besides the waitress being nice, this Applebee is just terrible. I came here because a friend wanted to come in. Not sure why. I came in with very low expectation and my expectation was right. After seating, the waitress took about 10 mins to take our order. There was short of staffs and she had to take care few tables. They had special of unlimited fried shrimp, riblet and chicken fingers with French fries. They also had the 2 for 20 menu. We ordered unlimited menu, 2 for 20: fish and chicken and build you meal for 20 dollars. The unlimited dish was full of French fries and the actual meal was very small portion- 5 shrimps per order. It took 2 mins to eat the shrimps and it took 30 mins to bring another order after you place it. Looking for the waitress and placing the order was another 10 - 15 minutes. The service was super slow, but I can't blame the waitress as she was working for 5-10 tables. Let's talk about the dishes. The shrimp was over-breaded and tasted greasy. The riblet was full of sauce and meat was dry; chicken finger was over-breaded, oily and super dry. The fish was ok (per my friend). My other friend didn't like the grilled chicken because it was too salty, so he just ate the left over fries. Overall it seems that you are getting a good deal, but NOT really. I ordered a chicken and shrimp bourbon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I had to tell two different servers that I had been waiting a while for my order. A server finally came out with the dish. Something tells me that this food was not freshly cooked and was just reheated because later on upon arriving home I got sick. I've had the stomach bug from Sunday to today Wednesday. My son and I decided to go have lunch at applebee's as it was one of the closest restaurants to where we were shopping in gateway mall. We had the special for $34 the sirloin steak and 2 sides. We had mashed potatoes and broccoli. The steaks were not cooked as we asked them to, so we had to send them back. I asked if I could get something else in the place of the steaks as I just wanted a good steak and realized that I was in the wrong place for that. They told me no I had to get another steak andthe 2nd state that came out was better than the 1st but it still was very chewy and not enjoyable the only good thing I feel that we got out of it was our host waiter was very nice his name was Andre and we could tell that he was trying to be as attentive to us as he had a lot of different tables to serve. You could tell that they were short staff. It seemed as they were the only 2 people waiting on tables in the whole restaurant.. I called 10 mins before I arrived to this location and they told me they can't give the wait times over the phone, which I thought was insane. I proceeded to ask was it busy and the lady over the phone told me no. Once I arrived the line to get in was out the door. By the time I made it to the front of the line I was told wait times are 45 mins to 1 hr wait. This is exactly why giving the wait time over the phone should be necessary so people aren't wasting there times coming here when they can't be seated. Ridiculous!! read more

Im so mad annoyed and angry. I placed 2 orders from Ubereats. 1st - Grilled salmon with Steamed Broccoli and Baked potatoes. 2nd- 1 kid meal grilled chicken Alfredo mashed potatoes and apple juice. And I didn't get what I ordered and 1 of the order looked like someone leftover disgusting. And when I called the restaurant was place on hold for manager after 10 minutes I HU. Called back ring no answered.. I called a 3rd time was on hold again had to HU. I know Ubereats will refund me my money in 24 hrs but that's not the point. The service was extremely sub par, we were seated for about 15-20 minutes before I had to stop someone walking by to request our waiter/waitress. She then came over with a very sour attitude, her energy was just I don't want to be here and I don't feel like talking to either of you. After she took our order she never came back, someone else brought the food and she never came to check on us. She stood at the bar or register and conversed with her co workers. I definitely did not have high expectations based on other reviews, but someone else chose this place and I was along for the ride. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! I was in a party of 10 but they set up our table pretty quickly. They don't take reservations but I had called an hour ahead so they were expecting us. The service was definitely 5 star from the hostess who lead us to our table, to the friendly waitress, to the bus boys who brought the food. Everyone chose food from the 2 for $20 deal and no one was disappointed. I actually expected the food to be cold and salty but again, wrong! The boneless Wings were tasty (although not really spicy) and the Tilapia was well seasoned and accompanied by potatoes and broccoli. Also, the coffee was great! Had a bad service and food experience at this location. To begin the the waiter sat in a chair at our table to take our order I've never seen that before. Then he didn't know how to use the tablet and had to ask for help. This waiter wore a gold chain outside his shirt like he was still in the streets. Then we waited about twenty minutes for our drinks to come I had to get the attention of someone else and ask where are drinks were. Next the food came came out cold and non appealing I've ordered the sampler before at other Applebee's location and it wasn't presented in this way. Even the chips were like small broken pieces which made it hard to eat. I've attached a picture. Furthermore the staff were all congregating by the hostess desk being loud and very chatty even saw my waiter chasing a female staff member and pushing her in a playful way which I thought was unprofessional. It appeared more that this was just a hangout place fir them rather then a job. They should be more attentive to the service of their customers and not make them wait for drinks or serve cold food. The service at this location is beyond horrible!! If I could give them a no star I would. I placed an order online it told me the order will be ready by 543pm but when I went to pick up the girl told me another 10 minutes. I got my food at 640 Pm. There is also no type of social distance whatsoever, everybody's on top of each other. They should really have someone directing the customers to the line they have to get on to pick up your order because of there lack of management people are arguing outside. Went to gateway and want to give a try applebee's to see how it with out door seating. Last time went to gateway I saw there was a lot of people. There were a lot of tables that was spread out which is good and all the employees wearing face covering. They wipe the chairs and tables before another customer sits down. I went on Saturday so it wasn't that much people plus we went there around 12 but I am sure it will get busier. So the staff was nice they took our order. The menu is paper menu they have so many to choose from. I went with my family. We order the classic combo as appetizer. My dad order a bourbon street steak, my girlfriend order a double crunch shrimp, my mom order a chicken fajita roll-up and I order chicken fried chicken. It didn't take that long to get out foods. My bf and I went in for their late happy hour after shopping at the Gateway shopping center. The host warmly greeted us and we opted to self-seat at a hightop in the bar area. Our server Nyasia greeted us promptly with a smile and offered to get our drinks started. We ordered a couple appetizers and 2 mucho long islands $6 (made perfectly) Drinks came and the food quickly followed. Everything was great and so was the price. Nyasia checked on us frequently and was awesome! It's seldom I experience great customer service anymore. We got the check and our payment was processed quickly. Like this was a horrible first experience coming to this Applebees location. I came here recently to beat the heat during a July heatwave. I'm an East New Yorker who loves Gateway overall; however, this Applebee's is ratchet. The servers are all ghetto. I sat at the bar, and my beer from their keg was stank. (It was way past time to change that keg). Sitting at the bar and watching the staff constantly fight over food orders fully illustrates why I will never come back here for a full meal. It's sad that OUR community cannot get OUR act together. It is so crazy how different locations serve food differently. Noontime on Sunday and there were open tables everywhere. I ordered the chicken wonton stir fry, but the server brought the shrimp dish. When I flagged her down, she said they did not have the chicken version (which is clearly posted on the website) and they would have to customize the order for me. Um...ok. It was not worth the wait. So disappointing and bland. It was as if all of the elements were cooked separately then assembled one on top of the other. Came in on a Wednesday and noticed they have a deal. For Wednesday's it's Steak night. Basically you can get a 6 oz steak and two sides for $9.99 which definitely isn't bad. I asked for a booth and was accommodated but i would have preferred a longer booth rather than a short one. It took a while for the waitress to come and ask us for our drink orders but she finally came and decided to take our complete orders. It took 10 minutes to get our drinks and Applebee's wasn't even crowded. Maybe she forgot? When our orders came my steak wasn't juicy at all, i ordered it medium well and she never asked to refill my drink. During the middle of our dinner she came a couple of times but never took away the plates that were already used. After we had finished eating we pressed the call server option in the tablet that is provided... let's just say that no one came. We were going to pay using the tablet but no pay option was available so we had no choice but to wait. After i turned around to see if i could find her ( which she was texting in the back so i couldnt get her attention) she finally decides to come to our table and finish our dinner with the check. Now for those who know me know I'm a great tipper. If service is good then of course the tip is going to be great.... let's just say i wasn't paying but i will never come back to this precise Applebee's. Unfortunately I have to give this Applebees 1 star due to food service. After a long day at Sesame Place we decided to go somewhere on our way home we knew our daughter (2 yr old) would eat. We got our table quickly and the waitress came over to get our food order in a decent amount of time. The problem was actually receiving our food. Our appetizer and toddler meal came 35 minutes after ordering...imagine entertaining a hangry 2 yr old while she waited for her mozzarella sticks. After an hour wait no sign of our entrees. Mac and cheese was dry pasta with shredded cheese on top.. the bourbon chicken is poorly seasoned as well as the shrimp. The mashed potatoes are gummy textured!! My 14 year old cousin can cook better. It has to be this apple bees because I've had good food at the green acres location.
