"riblets" were tough and tasted like they were leftover. my dad spit out the fries. my "mac and cheese with chicken tenders" had penne pasta with alfredo sauce (not even correct!) DRIPPING with water like they hadn't even drained it and soggy. the sauce tasted like it was from a jar. the pasta had so much water come out of it it was separated from the sauce. Very excited to get a take out order for myself and my 94 year old father. The staff was amazing however I alerted them to my onion allergy and specifically asked them to please leave the onions off my Whiskey bacon burger. I got there to pick it up was reassured that there was no onions on the burger. I have to tell you for a 18.00 burger ( with tax). I left a great tip . ( my bad). Absolutely horrible service. I have worked in the restraunt industry for 2 years done just about anything from hosting to cooking. Honestly I'd give 0 stars if it was a rating. Just go to chili's. We had come here and thought it was bad before so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back and this time was even worse. We walk in and wait over 10 minutes to be sat and there were no people in there at the time. Then a guy finally comes up and asks how we are and we say good. Then I ask how he is and he says wishing I wasn't here right now. Which already makes me not want to eat at your restraunt but we sit. We ended waiting about 15 minutes nothing from any server or the host who we were sat right next to. Then we say guess they didn't get better. We wait and get our entire order from drinks appetizers to main courses to desserts still no server came by to greet or take an order. Will never come back. Sometimes the familiar is everything and like most mid sized towns most restaurants close shop early on Wednesdays. I was craving a steak and truth be told I really like Applebees steaks. Given a choice between an Applebees steak and a steak from one the chain steakhouses, I'll take Applebees. Ironically the Applebees in Bloomington is located right next to one of those chain steakhouses. The parking lots were both pretty empty but I knew what I wanted. Sign on the door said "Santa appearing from 5-9pm. A quick look at my phone said it was after nine. I didn't need to deal with Santa or any god damn beard comparisons. Look at my photo. I get it all the time. Walking in my eyes were immediately drawn to the bar, more specifically the bartender, dressed in Christmas garb. She was absolutely gorgeous. Stunningly beautiful. I caught myself, forcing myself to focus on the menu and not here. I ordered my usual Diet Coke. I also got the steak and shrimp parmesan, 4 cheese mac n cheese and loaded mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly, a nice medium rare. If you order steak any way other then medium rare, just as Jesus intended, I question your decision making abilities in general because this something seriously wrong with you. Everything else was just as it should be and all delicious, including the bartender who I cannot get out of my head. Damn ! Bill paid I walked outside, lit a 100 and headed back to the hotel, alone and in love with an Applebee's bartender. I woke up naked, in the fetal position on top on the covers of the king size bed in my suite. One pillow between my legs, one clutched to my chest and two under my head. The lights are all on, CNN is on the TV. There are voices coming from the bathroom, muffled but clearly voices, likely male which terrified me. Did something happen with the midget wrestling team I ran into last night? Am I being robbed? Is Nova pulling some sick practical joke on me involving the midgets? Am I even awake? Why am I obsessed with these little people. Maybe it's that my wife was 4'9" or the dwarfs from the 79 movie Phantasm who still haunt me. Wandering into the bathroom, I see the source of the voices. It's my iPad playing Supermensh on repeat. I have a current obsession with Shep Gordon and have been watching and reading everything I can get my hands on about this guy. A little disappointed that it wasn't the midgets or the incredibly beautiful bartender from Applebee's last night but alas probably for the best. I have important business to attend to, starting with the tumbler of bloody mary in the mini fridge and the booger sugar the midgets shared with me last night. Applebees never disappoints. 3 stars. We actually drove through town yesterday on our way to Springfield, ate at this Applebee's, and then stopped again on our way back because we had such a good experience. Our server was Heather both times, and she was so friendly and gave such great service; just a great experience all around. The server I believe her name was Yaya was quite rude to my boyfriend and I. She was quite unprofessional as she tried to interact with my partner in a romantic way and was spiteful when rejected. The restaurant was clearly not busy and had plenty of open tables as it was nearly 9pm. She proceeded to tell us we had to wait 15 minutes because she was clearly immature! Super disappointed. We have always enjoyed coming here and have hourly never had a bad meal. All four of us were disappointed in the food and the service was subpar. I got a salad which was chunks of iceberg lettuce which was frozen in the middle which then became soft/wilted salad, I also ordered a side of fries which seemed to be forgotten by our waiter-had to ask twice for these along with dressing for my salad, my husbands waffle fries tasted like they were made 2 hours early and the couple we were with also commented on how the food was t great this time. I am unable to comment on the food as we did not make it that far sadly! We went around 2:30p & there were a few tables with seated patrons in there. We were offered a booth but I had to kick food out of the way before I could even think to sit. We did ask to be moved before sitting, due to the amount of food around & under that table/booth. Our next table, appeared to be better...we went to pick up a flyer/menu from the table, it stuck to the table & ripped! We started really looking around & many tables were dirty, along w/ food particles (large & small) all over the floor. They did appear to have enough staff so we didn't feel as though that was why the restaurant was in such poor shape! I really don't even know where to begin with this review. Our trip to this Applebee's was the single grossest restaurant experience we have ever had. First, the place was absolutely disgusting. I mean the booths looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years and the tables were filthy as well. I should have listened to my inner voice and walked out as soon as I saw the booth but there were probably 10 other tables occupied, and my kids were starving, so I thought there might be something redeeming about this place. I was wrong. For starters, they only had one server for all the tables during a lunch service. I know that it's difficult to find help right now but this poor guy was struggling. He looked physically exhausted running all over the restaurant by himself. He was drenched in sweat but that was probably because the air wasn't working (he told us when we asked) and it was 95 degrees outside. We never got drink refills the entire time and all of our food was horrible too. Cold items like kids yogurt and salads were served hot, while hot items like our pasta were served cold. Realizing our server was overwhelmed I didn't want to complain so I just waited for our ticket, paid, and left. But not before another employee who appeared from the back could knock over one of our drinks of melted ice and spill it all over everyone at our table. I really hope that this place is able to turn it around soon or they will be shut down. At this rate I believe they will be closed within the next month. read more

My visit here today was completely awful. My server wore no bra. As I cannot believe I ordered the dollar Long Island. Longing in my mouth is still the polite taste of dish soap. What sours the taste in my mouth is that on Veterans Day, I take my veteran husband for lunch.. I see they are packed and there is a waitlist..okay fine. There is no one at the podium when we come in so we just stand there to the side of the door and wait..soon whom I'm assuming is the manager..had on a button down shirt..walked up to the podium grabbed some silverware and began to cross a name off the list right as another patron walks in the door. My husband and I are standing pretty much in the door so we move slightly so the lady could come in. The man immediately addresses her. Her: is there a wait? Manager: yes are you on the list? So my husband says excuse me sir we haven't been helped and we've just been standing here. The man says I'll be with you in a minute. I ordered the ribeye steak medium and it came out well done! They cooked another one for me which was under done. Lost my appetite and only had two bites. The manager didn't even give me anything off my bill for the inconvenience or poor cooking. My wife finished her meal 10 minutes before my second steak. I paid the full tab without a tip, the manager can rip the waiter. And by the way he only returned for me to pay the bill, never after the first steak came out wrong. Pretty good! Went on a Sunday afternoon. I'm handing out four stars because the food was hot, the drinks were cold, the service thorough though admittedly a little slow (low staffing, appropriate for the time my 5-top went). I had the chopped chicken fiesta salad, Diet Pepsi, and finished with an Old Fashioned. Fiesta salad has a ranch dressing with a jalapeno zing, the tortilla strips added good texture, and there was sufficient chicken. It was chopped well, too--it didn't feel like I was hacking through the Amazon with a machete. The Diet Pepsi was unremarkable, which fulfilled my expectations of Diet Pepsi. It was cold and came in a glass with ice. Perfect. The Old Fashioned was made with Jim Beam, a good mixing bourbon, and was refreshing. Hit me for 7 dollars, though, so I might opt for their $5 Tall Long Island (cheap!) next time I want to wet my whistle. For what it is, a chain restaurant, Applebee's is all right. It's got a brighter ambience than TGIF, a concise menu, and decent variety. read more

My wife and I ate here earlier tonight, simply because we had never eaten here before. The hostess was very nice and sat us at a table. The server came promptly and took our drink order. I asked her for suggestions and she told us her favorites. My wife ordered the Garlic Sirloin and I had the Jalapeno Shrimp dish that came with rice. The sirloin looked grey and odd. My wife claimed it tasted "different". I liked the Jalapeno Shrimp, but was not fond of the what seemed to be instant rice. Overall, I now know why I have avoided Applebee's. It's pretty plain and your typical chain restaurant. Not something we enjoy. read more
