This was a bad bad day! Went into applebees tonight with another couple and their grandson. This was the worse experience we have ever had, I understand the work situation at our bemidji, Mn location. But this was the worst. It was about 6 pm tonight and it was busy but I have seen It a lot busier. We were quickly seated and got our drinks right away (which I'll explain later) and put in our orders with a refil and then it went down hill after that. The grandson ordered a taco with lettuce and tomato and a yogurt with a sprite. Got his taco no lettuce or tomato and no sprite, after asking for lettuce and tomato for his taco and the sprite he got the sprite 30 minutes after his meal and no lettuce and tomato. Then my friend ordered chicken and got her order with the refil and then she asked for shrimp and more French fries and never got either after asking twice, then asked for the fries to go and didn't get that either, other friend asked for riblets after his cold shrimp and they came out cold as well, then an Oreo shake was ordered for the grandson and he waited 45 minutes and the server said she would take it off but I told her no that he had been waiting patiently and was looking forward to it the entire time we were there, so she went to check on it and the bartender was finally making it to go. None of us got the coleslaw side we were suppose to get. Just wasn't on any of our plates. Guess it was taken by the coleslaw fairies. None of us received any drink refills, thank goodness at the beginning my husband snd I got a water with no ice because she said it melted by the time she was bringing it to the table so she brought another that had ice in it. $84 dollar meal that was a complete joke...We did end up leaving a $10 tip, $94 at this point not sure whose fault it was, but we were all VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE EXPERIENCE WE had tonight!! read more

Horrible experience. I ordered wonton tacos. They came out cold. I sent them back to be remade and you could tell they sent the exact same wonton tacos back out, but it looked like they nuked them in a microwave. I ordered one drink and two appetizers. I was there for over an hour. Two older lady's sat next to me, after me and were done eating and cashed out before my order even hit the table. I asked for no pico de gallo inside my quesadilla. Never had I experienced such bad service at a restaurant. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. and were seated shortly after. About 15 minutes later, we ordered our food and drinks at the same time. Our drinks and appetizer came out shortly after we ordered, so everything seemed to be going well at first. Unfortunately, after that, the service went downhill. Our waitress did not check on our table for at least 30-45 minutes. We eventually had to stop her while she was walking by just to ask for a refill on a drink and some water. By around 8:15 p.m., we still had not received our food. We eventually found out that our order had been lost in the kitchen. What made the situation even worse was that our waitress never checked on us during that entire time to realize that we had not received our food. We were left sitting there wondering what was going on. To make matters worse, our receipt was also incorrect at the end of the meal. Overall, this was a horrible experience. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of communication and the fact that no one noticed we had been waiting so long for our food made the experience extremely frustrating. We had a very disappointing experience. I would rate the quality of the food a 1 star. We ordered the baby back ribs dinner and prime rib sandwich. The food was not good. The mashed potatoes were not warm/hot. The employees would get 2 stars. My salad only came after my meal was delivered and I had to ask about it. Went in at about 3:00 pm today (Sunday). We were seated and given menus. Nobody came to even take our drink order and we sat there for over 15 minutes. It was not busy and many waitresses were standing around socializing. There was a table seated 10 minutes after we were given menus and when the waitress went to take their order and nobody had come to our table at all, it was the final straw and we left. We made eye contact with some of the wait staff to beckon them come over but they did not. I've been going to Applebees for years and have never experienced anything like this. It didn't seem to us that there was any kind of supervisor there at the time we were there. Very disappointing. read more

This review is for the Cosmic Wings only. The rest of the restaurant gets a couple stars better. I wanted to try the Cheetos wings because the idea sounded great. My advice is don't. Maybe for your toddler. The wings were greasy and flavorless. When I say greasy I mean like 1/8 inch of pure grease in the bottom of the container. Don't get me wrong, I like Applebees. Was in Bemidji en route to go ice fishing. I didn't know where to go but when I saw Paul Bunyan Road I knew that I'd be in throes of chain restaurant row. My buddy and I saw the local Applebee's and knew that there really was but one choice. We were going I be eating good in the neighborhood. Rolled up in around 11am. Would I like the larger beer for an extra buck? That's a dumb question. It's 11. So be sure to have a back up in queue because I'm ready to hit it hard. Wings are 1/2 price you say? Fire up two orders and point me to the bathroom so I know where I'll be headed in 45 minutes. Oh yeah. Get xl beer 3 ready. I'm in Bemidji and it's time to party. The first shift bartender cheerfully obliges and humors my friend and I from the opening bell until her sift ends and the new bartender comes on. What a gal. Does she look familiar? Spearmint Rhino? Maybe. But I digress. At this point we think it is a great idea to order frozen blue drinks. And it IS a great idea. There is no way I'm gonna be hung over tomorrow. Anyhoo. Bartenders were great. Had a fun time. Stopped in again after ice fishing a few days later. Got really drunk. Applebee's food tasted like Applebee's. Definitely saw a local with an escort at the bar. That made for more fun. At was also as we were all approaching blackout drunk. My mom would be mortified if I yelled something about a hooker inside of an Applebee's. When passing through Bemidji late last month, we stopped at Applebee's where on entering, there was neither a greeter nor a sign to wait for seating/be seated. As there were few people, we seated ourselves near the front. Someone finally approached us, asking if we had seated ourselves. We said yes, and he muttered something about the greeter not being where he/she should be. We then ordered two grilled chicken salad entrees. When they arrived with no chicken, we asked that they be corrected. The response was to bring two saucers of emaciated cold chicken strips that were supposed to let us "build our own" salads. I asked the waitperson why she didn't take the half-salads back to the kitchen and do them correctly. This, she apparently intended to do, becoming quite upset in the process. While we waited some more, I turned to see who else might be present and saw that the booth behind us, though vacant since before our arrival, was littered across the aisle with food scraps and trash. But instead of using the quiet time to tidy up, the personnel sat at a table at the rear, chatting and drinking. Finally, a portly man in a soiled shirt and slacks approached us, asking if we had a problem with the order. Unable to avoid looking at his soiled demeanor, I told him that bringing out two entrees that were incomplete and then expecting the guests to "do it yourself" wasn't why we were there. I also commented on the man's untidy appearance, and he said that he was doing the cooking! No apron, no proper kitchen attire -- but he was apparently the cook! Finally, without receiving our reworked orders, I stood to leave and was encouraged by this person's admonishment to do just that. So we traveled down the street to Perkins, where after telling the sad tale at Applebee's we found that some of the personnel who worked there had left Applebee's. None of them were surprised. I also notice that on a popular restaurant review website, Applebee's in Bemidji is rated #79...below McDonald's and Burger King! read more

Absolutely love applebees!! Every single time I go the staff is so nice and is really helpful when someone doesn't know what to get. They helped my mom find food on her whole 30 diet and it's super hard to find something at a restaurant on it!! The three cheese penne is my favourite, best pasta I've had in Bemidji by far and isn't too badly priced. They have little game things to keep kids entertained while you wait and it's $2 to play but it's worth it if your kids are impatient. The salads are amazing as well, super fresh and good. Overall a great great place, would recommend for anyone visiting or just looking for a meal out in Bemidji. Great job applebees!! read more

I had some kind of shrimp stir fry. It was good but everything here seems to be prepackaged and they dump it on a plate and nuke it, then add a few topping items. The service was good and the entire staff seemed professional and efficient. This Applebees appeared to be well run. Everything was clean and arranged "just so". If I was camping out in the Walmart parking lot, I would go back. I almost missed it. Its kind of hidden off to the side out of view from the front of Walmart. read more

Hit and miss at this location. Most evenings me and my hubby like to choose this as our date night spot and it's always been great. Today rubbed me wrong from start to finish. We get there and they had someone from state of Minnesota asking every customer questions which I found tacky. I was given our meals my sandwich had so much fat I couldn't eat it. Our waiter never asked how our meal was or I would have mentioned the sandwich was gross. Was never given any refills. On Saturday afternoon my friends and I decided to eat at an Applebee's after a round of golf. Having had nothing to eat all day, we were all very hungry. After walking in, our hostess had us seated almost right away with our waiter waiting on us for beverages. After deciding on what we wanted to eat, we placed our orders and within 10 minutes or so, our food was right in front of us. The food was great and with the service being so quick and friendly, we will definitely be coming back again sometime in the future. read more

Went recently for drinks and food. Food was fine, waited forever for refills. Waitress eventually came back a half hour later complaining about how long her shift was and threw the check at us. Waitress really didn't seem like she wanted to be there, or us for that matter. It's a shame, I like their food as a quick cheap dinner, but this place has really gone downhill over the last few years. Just returned from dining at Applebee's Restaurant in Bemidji MN. It was difficult deciding what to order due to the wide variety of entrees on the menu, everything looked and sounded good. I decided to order the portabella mushroom chicken. It was delicious and an excellent choice. Our server was Sarah. She was very efficient, courteous and friendly. I can not list all of the things that our waiter named Sydney did to us that was super rude. All 6 of us who was seated were all polite and nice towards her and did nothing to get the rudeness from this lady. She got an attitude with me when I asked for a plain cheeseburger with ketchup and cheese. She then gave a really snarky reply. After we were all done with our food, she threw the checkbook at my arm and said "sorry" very with little meaning to it. A safe bet for a decent meal. The drinks are the spendy bit, the meals are pretty reasonable. The food is pretty consistent and I haven't had anything that was just awful. We have recently started to do the carside to go option and that is a great for those times you don't want to cook, but still sit around the dining room table with the family and have something other than pizza. Some of the wait staff are better than others, but overall they do pretty well as a whole. We don't eat here a lot, but I would say that at least half of the time we have had a manager stop by our table to ask how our meal was. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible, F. Went to Applebee's with relatives tonight. Party of 7. Got in pretty quickly and placed our order. For they first thirty minutes the server was Johnny in the spot and returned to the table to ask if we needed anything else. Then she disappeared for a half hour. When she finally returned, this time 1+ hour into our visit, she said the kitchen hasn't even started to prepare our food order and she had no ETA on our food. We said we'd prefer just to cash out and go elsewhere, as our kids' patience was wearing very, very thin, sitting in a small booth with no food all this time. The server said she would "comp" some of our drinks for our trouble. When she came back with the ticket we discovered she comp'd the kids drink and was charging $14 for the two other drinks we had (beer, mudslide). Despite their huge failure Applebee's "went cheap" on us, trying to squeeze us for every penny. It wasn't until we complained to a manager that the other drinks were comp'd as well, It'd be one thing if this was an isolated incident, but it's not. These type of service short comings are routine at Applebee's of Bemidji. I'm quite surprised they are still in business. read more

My grandparents are a couple in their 60's who stepped in the restaurant today at lunch and told me to post "modern music was so loud we couldn't hear our selfs talk. We politely asked for them to turn it down and they didn't. The average age there was our age. Bad ambiance, mediocre food. Applebee's learn to read the room. Won't be coming back."
