I have not been to Applebee's in years. The food we were served made me not want to return. My husband and I got the 2 for $27 entrees with a shareable app. Right off the bat, we were told a long list of things the kitchen has run out of... no onion rings, boneless wings, and a few others I can't remember. I really wanted the onion rings as the app, but we went with the spinach and artichoke dip instead. I got the bourbon chicken and shrimp with mashed potatoes and my husband got the 8oz sirloin for another $2 extra. The bourbon flavor is not tasty at all, would definitely never order it again. It tasted a bit burnt and sour, I was expecting a glaze with a bit of sweetness and the mashed potatoes side tasted like it was from a box as it was overly creamy with no consistency. My husband's steak was ordered to be made medium rare, but came as medium well! What a disappointment. We did not send back as we only stopped for a quick dinner due to a road trip to West Virginia from Ohio. They definitely need to work on the end taste of their entrees. The first photo is what I got the first time which was well done. So they told me they would put another one on and it would be right out. 15 min later the second pic is what I got which was raw in the center. Not to mention our Classic Combo Appetizer came out and then 5 min later our main course came out. Not even enough time to eat half of the appetizer. They were not busy at all. The Manager took the steak off the bill but that isn't the point. Learn to cook a fucking steak the first time and only the first time or get the fuck off the grill and find another job. I go to this establishment on a VERY regular basis. The food is always good. Attentiveness is always great from the waitress. I always try to get the same one if possible. I always get a house margarita as it is my favorite place to have one. Last night I visited my favorite place and as usual sat in the usual booth. Ordered appetizers and drinks. Drinks came promptly and so did the apps. I must say that the new bartender needs some training as the margarita was no where near as good. Wonder if it even had alcohol in it. I hate a negative review, but this place just doesn't cut it. My chicken sandwich was literally the thickness of a fast food, dollar menu restaurant chicken sandwich. We waited 10 minutes for refills with only a few booths of patrons in the dining area. The boneless wings were dry and we had to ask for mild sauce to try and make them descent to eat. The baked potato wasn't hot and was even hard. Our waitress was more fixed on getting off of work than she was worried about service. After working a 12 hour day in the sun and looking foreword to some rest, this place just didn't get it done. read more

This place smelled like a dirty mop and that was when I walked in the front door. Food was cold and poorly prepared, service super slow. I made the mistake of going to the restroom before leaving, smell got worse as I moved towards the back of the restaurant, entire restaurant is filthy. I found out why though as I witnessed the manager walk out of a bathroom stall and directly back into the restaurant without washing his hands. If you do not have enough sense to wash your hands then you shouldn't be running a restaurant. This place needs shutdown for a week and sanitized including the managers hands, yuck! read more

I ordered the Bourbon Chicken & Shrimp, the shrimp was very good and the chicken was a little bit undercooked, no further complaints though. The service was good, greeted very nicely and quickly seated. Luke was our waiter and was very good at making sure my party and I were satisfied. Got there, were givin pagers when there were 6 tables cleared and set within sight of the people waiting. Initially thinking that there was a shortage of servers, we saw what appeared to be 4-5 servers wandering around with nothing to do. The hostess would hand the pager to the customer and then trigger the "test page" which confused just about every customer I saw as I waited 10 minutes to be seated at a table that was cleared and set when we walked in. Once seated, things got better till we put in our order for an appetizer, at this point we ordered drinks and suffice it to say our appetizer trio came out before any silverware, plates or drinks did. Wife ordered a water when we ordered our appetizer and the server forgot it and she had finished off her peach sangria and we had to ask for it again. We finished our appetizers off and ended up waiting so long for our food that we were no longer hungry and had to get our entrees boxed up to leave. This process took between 15-20 minutes. The entire time what appeared to be the floor manager wandered around talking into a headset telling someone which tables were ready to clear and which ones needed set. Not ONCE did we see her ask ANY of the customers how their dining experience was. All in all a pretty disappointing experience. read more

The Applebee's in Athens, Ohio was a good restaurant. It had a good atmosphere with great customer service. While I was not a part of the intended audience of the restaurant, I still liked the design of the restaurant. I liked that there were TV's everywhere you looked because I love to watch sports. The food wasn't the greatest and the presentation of the food also was subpar, but the food tasted delicious and filled me up. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend and I would happily return to the excellent customer service and the overall atmosphere of people watching sports related events and having fun while doing so. read more

When we arrived, we were immediately seated which was pleasant, I requested a booth and the hostess was perfectly okay with that. After we were seated, the waiter came in about 5 minutes, asked for our drink and was very attentive. He smiled, was patient when we ordered, and offered suggestions as well. I ordered the classic combo, because I was unsure of what I wanted. It came with boneless wings, mozzarella sticks, spinach dip and chips, and chicken quesadillas. I thought it was decent because It took a while for our food to finally come out, and my chips for my spinach dip came out way later, and my dip was cold at that time. The boneless chicken was a bit cold and didn't have that much flavor. The mozzarella sticks and quesadillas were cooked well though, and had a lot of flavor. Overall it would not be the first place I recommend, but if you are going to go it isn't terrible. I would say it was a 6/10 experience. read more
