We hired A&H Tree Service based on a neighbor's referral to remove a few branches from a large tree…read morein our yard. They did remove the branches--and maybe one more than expected--but overall, the work itself was fine, and they cleaned up the debris. That said, the customer experience left a lot to be desired. Communication was lacking throughout, except when they repeatedly followed up for the deposit. They didn't tell us in advance that our driveway and front street needed to be clear for their truck, so my partner had to rush home from work to move the car. After the job, no photos were shared, and when I asked about the price and 3% credit card fee, they pointed to the contract. Fair enough--but it would've been helpful if they had mentioned that upfront. I offered to send cash or a check to avoid the surcharge, but they said credit card is now the only accepted method. Between the lack of communication and inflexibility, I wouldn't recommend them based on customer service alone. Hopefully the residue left on our vinyl fence comes off with a hose.

From the initial quote to the final cleanup, they are consistently professional, reliable, and respectful of our property. Most recently, we had two large trees taken down--one of which was hanging over our greenhouse and needed to be removed with extra care. I felt completely comfortable and confident in their team. They showed up in company uniforms, arrived in clearly marked trucks with license numbers displayed, and operated with total professionalism throughout the job. What really stood out was how fair and thoughtful they were. We received a quote a full year earlier but weren't sure whether we wanted to take down just one tree or both. The tree expert at A&H actually recommended we observe how the trees impacted light and shade on our garden and greenhouse through the spring and summer before making a decision. That kind of no-pressure, customer-first approach really sealed the deal for us. When we were ready, they honored the original pricing and gave us a negotiated rate--which is rare and deeply appreciated. I always recommend A&H to friends and neighbors. If you want a tree service that's professional, honest, and skilled, this is the team to call.

I want to share a mixed experience in case it helps others…read more The owner of the company was a total class act. He quoted a fair price, explained the scope clearly, and ultimately honored everything he promised. I have zero issues with him and would work with him again if he personally handles the close-out. Where things went sideways was at the end of the job, when the owner's "brother-in-law" showed up to "wrap things up." And to be clear, I don't think this guy was his brother in law at all. He kept contesting that he was Colombian and his brother was of a different nationality. I really don't care if he's from Greenland and you're from the north pole. Honor the agreement. I had set aside an additional $500 to tip the crew, completely voluntarily. Instead of letting me speak directly to the workers, the brother-in-law positioned himself between us and immediately started pushing for extra payment, claiming the job was "more than what was agreed." At that point, my $500 went back in my pocket. I never not tip and it killed my to not do it here. Either way, what I saw and who I was dealing with as the closers, "the workers" who actually did the work would have never seen a nickel of that $500. This directly contradicted the signed agreement. He began posturing and making comments that were inappropriate and unnecessary on my property. At that point, I stopped engaging and insisted he call the owner. To the owner's credit, once we spoke, he immediately reaffirmed the original deal, including post-job cleanup and removal of stump cuttings. Everything the owner said matched what was originally promised. After that call, the brother-in-law made an unprofessional remark along the lines of "I like how he talks to you," which only reinforced that he was trying to assert himself rather than resolve anything. The job itself was done well. The owner handled it professionally. But the close-out interaction was completely unnecessary and uncomfortable, and it turned what should have been a positive experience into a tense one. He needs to get his brother in law away from any closing. The guy doesn't have this ability. My advice: If you use this company, make sure the owner is the one handling payment, close-out, and any post-job discussions. Do not rely on intermediaries who were not part of the original agreement.

On the scheduled day, he arrived on time with a five-man crew and four trucks: a bucket truck, chipper, stump grinder, and flatbed for the logs. I also asked him to remove a large limb from a maple tree. He charged $250 for the additional work, which I felt was very reasonable. Victor (I believe that was his name) supervised the crew. They were well-coordinated, careful, and efficient throughout the job. When they finished, they raked the yard, removed twigs, and even blew debris off the driveway and the street. I'm no longer worried about the next windstorm, our backyard is noticeably brighter, and it will likely be years before we're dealing with piles of acorns again. I couldn't be happier with both the management and the crew.
