Just back from Apple Watford for the second time and exactly the same scenario played out.. As someone over fifty I seem to be completely invisible. My second time now saying "Excuse me...." to two passing sales consultants and seeing them ignore me and keep walking as they were assisting someone else I would guess. Fair enough but not even a word or glance? Then for the second time five minutes of standing in the area where I wanted to buy something, morosely watching young men in Apple Polos talking to one another, even staring straight at me but making no attempt to help me. Then five minutes wandering around hoping to find someone who can see me. A young sales assistant carrying bags says "Hello." and keeps going. Three minutes later she asks me "Are you OK?" I answer, "I am trying to find someone to help me." No response so I keep wandering and try to find a sales point to ask for help. Then I give up and leave and, as I am heading for the door, I see a man waving at me. Sorry, but I just raise my arms in resignation and keep going out the door. I had just had enough humiliation for one day. Do not go into that store unless you are a pretty young girl or a family with children as they will not even see you. As I had already had the exact same experience two years ago, today I wore a bright Dolce & Gabbana shirt but it sadly did not counteract my greying hair. Just as two years ago, I will forgo the advice and look online...sigh. It is no accident that my Mac and iPad were both bought in Apple stores in the USA where I am completely visible! read more
