My iPhone SE had a good run of about six years. Towards the end, though, years of abuse culminated in an unfortunate crash-landing on a plug and a cracked screen. It was time. I headed into my local Apple Store and was directed to Xerxes, who was super helpful, helping me get my gorgeous iPhone (it's pink!), case (it's also pink!), and screen protector (not pink, but perfectly installed). He also helped me get the new phone set up--I could easily convert my SIM into an eSIM, and everything from my backup transferred over. It was a painless and surprisingly easy process, and I was in and out much more quickly than I expected to be--score! read more

My mom ordered a new phone from here, which we had to pick up in store. When we arrived they asked if she had her "qr code" from the order and my mom's current phone is barely functioning so she had issues bring it up. They were able to look up her name and verify via ID to grab her order. We waited a few minutes for them to bring it out and while we were waiting they were starting some kind of class/workshop in the back. An older lady walked in w/ her MacBook and an associate approached her to see what she needed, she was requesting a charger cord to plug in her pc for the workshop and the associate said "ok" and there was a bit of back and forth over the cord. The older lady was a bit demanding and rude and the associate matched her energy which was a bit unprofessional but I definitely understand. In general it wasn't welcoming and the staff weren't friendly. They didn't say "thank you" or anything when handing over the order. For how much items cost I felt like they should be a bit more appreciative of the business. read more

Don't even bother going here! It's difficult to get to and I don't really care about Customerservice. I needed help and they wouldn't help me. That's what you get for buying Apple products. I would instead go online and buy or go someplace else like Samsung where they care about the customer. The store is horrendous. It's sterile and ugly. They have this huge video screen in the back which will burn your eyeballs right out of the socket. The cat is working there like to slouch on the products. I guess they can't stand up straight. except for the security guy at the door. I felt really sorry for him because he stood there motionless the whole time. Give them a chair. However the chairs are ugly, cheap, and very uncomfortable. Multi trillion dollar company could afford better. Better yet just stay away. read more

I bought an external hard drive 7/10/25 and got home and it had over 100 photos and movies from the previous owner. Why do they sell used items, do they not check to see if still works. Now I have to drive 40 minutes back to the store and exchange it. The staff was slightly helpful, but not much. I guess it was my fault for buying it there to begin with. read more

I went to Apple Southdale and Apple Mall Of America in the same day about a week ago, mainly as a tourist. At SouthDale they do have a more uniformed and armed(?) guard than at MoA (at the other place I think security's main job was preventing stealing AppleWatch on display). Yesterday it was really hard to transfer my phone to my new phone and Gabriel worked really hard to help me. He was outstanding and deserves 5 stars. My only complaint was the store atmosphere. It was so cold that I was shivering and so loud I couldn't distinguish sounds with my hearing aid. Poor Gabriel had to translate everything for me and be my ears. 10 stars for Gabriel. read more

I purchased an IPad online to pick up in the store. When I arrived I found out my order had been cancelled. I specifically ordered online to pick up because I have a disabled son. Personnel in the store basically told me there was nothing they could do to help me. I called customer service and they also told me there was nothing they could do to help me. My funds are now on hold. Also something they told me they could not help me with. I am so frustrated and angry. They are holding my funds hostage and they can't be used but I don't have an IPad to show for it. Now I'm told I have to wait 5 business days to be able to use my own money. Very frustrated. Very angry. These people did nothing to help. Avoid Apple stores and avoid buying Apple products online through their store. read more

Have been having issues with my iphone and worked with Apple support on line and they sent me to Southdale Apple to speak with a Technician. When I got to the store one of the front line Geeks took my name and saw that I had a tech appointment but started talking to me about the issue. I thought he was just getting info before the Tech came out. Then he sent the tech away and said he had it!!!! What? My appointment was with the Tech! This ego boy should not be able to make the decision that he can help me over the assigned Tech! Will NOT allow anyone I know to go here. If you mushing here, stand your ground strong and don't let the ego boys out front take over your actual Tech appointment! REALLY disappointed! I have used Apple products since purchasing a 2e way back when the Earth was new. The quality of Apple products has always been high and service has always been excellent so to quote Edith Piaf " Non je ne regrette rien ". Recently the battery on my iPhone 11 started to go gentle into that dark night so I decided to replace it at the Southdale Apple Store. My iPhone now has a battery transplant and everything appears fine. Dealing with the Apple Store is a bit quirky but I have to admit it works. Dropping in for service is highly discouraged but it is easy to make an appointment online. When you arrive you are greeted by an employee whose total job seems to be greeting people. I arrived about 30 minutes early and was informed that no one was available to help me until the appointed time. So I browsed the products on display but although tempted by the bright and shiny digital toys, I didn't buy anything (this time). At the appointed hour I was directed by the greeter to a table where I was interviewed by another employee who collected some data from me. A third employee (the genius?) joined me and analyzed my problem as a failing battery. Then after pointing out my phone could be a trade in on a newer phone, he ordered a new battery and told me that it would arrive in a couple of days. I would be contacted when this event occurred. In due time this came to pass and l returned and was greeted again by a different greeter and sent to wait at a table where another genius met me and took my phone and told me to return in about 3 hours time. I did so whereupon I was greeted again and sent to wait for another genius (there are more genius's in this store than at a convention of Nobel physics laureates) who brought me my phone with a new battery and reassured me that the operation had been a total success and my phone was being returned with no loss of precious data. After leaving my phone I was tortured with the fear that all my data might have slipped away into that big cloud in the digital sky. The process reminded me of when my children were born and I was informed by the medical staff that I was now the proud father of a healthy child. The whole process seemed a little complicated but I now have a new, healthy battery so I ain't complaining. PS IRL as part of my job I have known a couple of Nobel Laureates and I would not trust them to change the battery in my iPhone. read more

I am writing to share a troubling experience I had while shopping at the Saint Louis Park store for a pair of AirPods. My visit was marred by what I believe to be an instance of racial profiling. Upon entering the store, I was approached by an employee who was assisting another customer. He abruptly stopped talking mid-sentence and questioned me about my intentions before I even had a chance to browse or walk past the first table. Despite showing him my interest in purchasing AirPods and explaining that I would wait until he was finished assisting the other customer, I was subjected to further scrutiny. He said, "She can wait." I should have left the store at that moment. As I moved over to the AirPods display to evaluate my options, I noticed an employee positioning himself close to the table where I was browsing. It was apparent that, despite there being multiple open tables, this employee was specifically stationed near me. Additionally, I observed a mall police officer near the entrance, which seemed to further suggest that I was being watched. While at the table, I picked up items without any suspicious movements and placed them back in their proper areas. While comparing prices, I discovered that Walmart was offering the same AirPods for $79.99, whereas Apple was selling them for $129. I decided to call Walmart to confirm the price difference. During this call, I noticed multiple employees circulating around the area as if anticipating that I might leave the store without paying. Feeling uncomfortable and singled out, I approached the front attendant and quietly expressed my concern about being racially profiled. I informed him that I would be taking my business elsewhere and left the store. It is disheartening to experience such treatment based on my appearance and attire (I was dressed down, and my natural hair is large). As an assistant principal for a small school, I am fully capable of purchasing items and expect to be treated with respect regardless of my appearance. It is also regrettable that I even need to provide this context. This incident has led me to decide that I will not be shopping at the Saint Louis Park location in the future. I hope this feedback will prompt a review of store policies and staff training to ensure that all customers are treated equitably and with respect. If customers feel this way, I can only imagine the concerns of BIPOC staff members working for Apple at this location and the racial harm they may experience. In light of George Floyd's death, given that we are in Minnesota, you'd think this location would be proactive in addressing and implementing anti-racist practices. Unfortunately, it seems that the Edina Apple Store is not welcoming to all customers, particularly Black people who may not fit certain stereotypes about wealth or electronics. I've been calling apple support for the past month because my computer charger MELTED and completely stopped working. I kept being told a new charger would be mailed but that I need to keep taking pointless phone calls and then they never actually call. When I call them back, they keep having me send pictures and answering the same questions again and again. The customer service reps are zero help. The charger was clearly defective and a new one would cost them probably only like $10 and I've been a loyal customer for over a decade but instead of providing the most minimal customer service, they keep yanking my chain and wasting my time. We bought an Apple Watch for our son for his birthday. It won't connect to the cellular network. 2 hours at Verizon and 2 trips to the Apple Store with no resolution. Apple will not exchange the watch. It is being sent in for repair. I should be able to exchange the defective watch that I just purchased. read more

TL;DR - Came in for a battery replacement, walked out with a dead iPhone. The process took nine hours. I showed up at 10am for a battery replacement and was told I needed an appointment. Two hours later I showed up literally two minutes late and the appointment had been canceled. They blamed a computer problem (!!!) and got me in a half hour later. Left the iPhone and was told it would take another two hours. Came back and was told they had accidentally broken the screen and were going to replace it for free. They promised only twenty minutes. Came back to being told it was going to take another twenty minutes but not the hour their system said. Half an hour later they came out, said the iPhone was fixed They gave it to me, I paid for the battery replacement and left. In my car I tried to turn on the iPhone. Totally blank screen. Plugged it in to charge and no change. Back inside I went. The manager, who initially said it was fine and had charged me, went and talked to people. He hadn't read the case notes which told him the iPhone was dead. They had ordered a replacement which would be in a few days to a week. read more

This is THE classic Apple store. Big in real estate. Product is stable (you'll find what you need, typically) Staff are ready to help. It is a busy location, setting up an appointment ahead of time is encouraged. This location holds classes and has functionality to assist further than grabbing a phone or computer. I will say this location is due for a renovation, it isn't totally outdated but it can be really soon. Solid location, I come here when I'm getting in and out. read more

Have come to this store from time to time over the years for sales, service and support help. The last two visits were support and troubleshooting on my laptops. The staff used to be really smart and make it easy. Last two visits were disappointing at best. Very little help and you are better off called Apple Support. The staff members I dealt with did not want to be there. Also wait times even with appointment were longer than expected. Probably stick to online. Was interest in purchased a phone too but did not even consider that after the lack of help. Walked out with many unanswered questions and shamed for using google search engine. read more

If we could give them zero stars, we would. We had two simple questions. One was whether or not we could move a hard drive from one Apple laptop to another. They said that we needed to make 2 appointments; one for each device. What?!? That makes ZERO sense. We asked for the manager and he said the same thing. He didn't want to let us come in, sit down, and ask our question. Ridiculous. We had an appointment! Finally he let us in, and then said it was possible to switch the hard drives, but that they don't do that there. What?!? What happened to their customer service?!? Great customer service. My iPhone 6 wouldn't ring or send alerts. I was absolutely convinced I'd tried everything, including volume buttons & internal settings. An employee carefully checked the phone, handed it back to me, & said I could come back for a walk-in tomorrow if I wanted to. Sure enough, 10 minutes after I left the store, I got a text alert. Turns out that like the incredible moron I am, I'd missed the mute switch on the side of the phone. But the young man fixed it without making me *feel* like an idiot. That's the difference between a bad customer experience & a great one. read more

Needed a new battery for my 2015 MacBookPro. Specified to the technician that I did not want the OS upgraded as it would no longer work with my older programs. I work freelance so it's my work computer - ie. my livelihood. Not only was the OS upgraded but the Apple "Geniuses" wiped my computer of all data. When I called to see if they could re-install the older OS I was told I would have to wait 4 days for an appointment. Icing on the cake was they never notified me when the work was done. They had told me the work would take about 5 days. After 6 days had gone by I checked online only to find out the work had been done 4 days prior. If I could give zero stars I would. I would have been better off not replacing the battery and just keeping it plugged in rather than throwing away over $200 for the "Geniuses" to f*ck up so thoroughly. read more

He tells me that Apple has had a lot of angry customers. NO KIDDING I say as I walk away. I am ready to sell my Apple stock and dump this dump (but the products are so damn good!) Guess what??? I went to the Verizon store on 50th and France and they didn't have the phone I wanted. (Weird, since all you guys do is phones?) The guy was super nice and sent me over to the Apple Store at Southdale (I didn't even know they could do Verizon stuff) I met up with "Bob" first and he was super cool. Got me my phone and sent me over to "Jack" to set me up. Super cool guy that sat with me for about half hour making sure my new phone was setup perfect. I wear my things into the GROUND, folks. Thanks to a sturdy Otterbox that makes me look like a 55-year old man, my iPhone 5s lasted so long that the Verizon network just stopped recognizing it. After perusing Gazelle and other options, I went with a refurbished iPhone 7 bought from Apple for the year-long warranty and the included gee-gaws (a portal thingy for headphones! wireless headphones! good charger! promised to be unlocked!). Went to pick it up at the mall last night and was assigned to Bob, a super kind and skilled Apple employee who walked me through starting the new phone, installing the software, and transferring all of my Very Important Things (contacts! pictures of m'dog! Hamilton soundtrack!) from my old phone to the new one. It took awhile, but let's be real folks: it is some kind of weird miracle that phones can send your Hamilton soundtrack to space and back to a totally different phone in an hour. Respect. It all went over without a hitch. I wanted to shout out Bob especially, not only for his careful and thorough work, but for engaging with me in a very kind and human conversation about politics. It made me hopeful. PLUS: I had no idea Apple buys back old gear, so he arranged for Apple to buy back my old iPhone! I got a $30 gift certificate! Five stars, team! read more

I am deeply disappointed with the service I received at this Apple store. My MacBook broke earlier this week and I scheduled an appointment at this location, where a tech ran a scan and told me the hard drive was broken. This tech told me if I bought a new hard drive (they recommended a few models) and scheduled another appointment, the store would install it for me in under two hours. When I brought my laptop back with a new hard drive, a different (and very condescending) tech told me that installing third-party parts is against company policy. Why was I told to do something that's explicitly against company policy? I wasted $130 on a new hard drive and several hours of my time. When I buy a new computer, I will buy from a company that has consumer-friendly repair practices, unlike Apple, which as a company has lobbied against reasonable "right to repair" legislation for years. read more

After destroying my phone while doing a simple battery change, they have refused to provide me with a new phone in a timely manner. My daughter would have been willing to buy a newer phone in stock if they had deducted the value of the phone they destroyed but they would not consider it and tried to bully her into buying a very expensive phone at full price. Today Manager Michael (who refused to give me any more specific identifying information and says he is a genius) wants me to wait several days for an equivalent replacement and then make the 6 hour RT to pick it up, instead of having it shipped directly to me. Meanwhile I'm a working priest with a dying congregant whose family can't even call me directly. Apple products are great. This "genius bar" is populated by incompetents. All stores could take a cue from Apple and their customer service. Even though it was a packed evening right before Christmas, we were greeted and helped immediately. We were there because my husband had a list of questions, and he basically told me to get lost while he talked with CS (because I apparently have a habit of interjecting my own thoughts and questions). While I wondered around playing with cool toys, I was approached 3 times by employees wanting to help, and not in a pushy way. And they know their shit. Seriously. Very impressed. The other day was the most recent of several visits to this store. I have a hard time understanding the haters. I have experienced nothing but topnotch service each and every time. My daughter needed to replace her venerable MacBook that had provided steadfast service for 5+ years. Alas, it was beginning to show its age. We were greeted by a pleasant appointment coordinator and told it would be a few minutes before a salesperson would be available. She took our name and we wandered about looking at the newest models. In short order "Jack" found us, introduced himself and offered his assistance. He could not have been more cordial, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. He patiently went over the pluses and minuses of the various MacBook models, answering all of my daughter's questions and concerns with thoughtful, well-considered input. She ended up choosing a MacBook in Rose Gold that was actually lighter than a comparably sized Air, had double the RAM, a Retina display, more ruggedly built construction and better overall specs for a couple hundred dollars more. She couldn't be happier with her choice. She also discovered to her surprise and delight that because she will be teaching, she qualified for a 5% discount on her purchase and a free $300.00 pair of Beats wireless headphones. After the purchase, when it came time to set up her new MacBook and transfer files, she ran into a glitch. It was Jack to the rescue. He was able to decipher a gnarly issue with an old, obsolete Apple ID and untangle the whole mess. I'll add that on a previous occasion, I was guided by a very competent, engaging and knowledgeable young woman through the purchase of a MacBook Pro. I can't speak to the negative reviews others have expressed. I can only say that based on my personal experience I highly recommend this store and wish to commend Jack (self described as "the tall guy with glasses") in particular. read more

Long time Apple user here... after my experience at this store, I am official DONE with Apple and will no longer be buying any Apple products ever again. Since the release of the iPhone X and the new iOS - I, like many Apple users, have been experience an extreme drop in performance in my iPhone. I decided to replace the battery in hopes it would salvage my phone. After waiting 5 months for a replacement, I bring my phone into the store, they swap out the battery (for $30), and in turn they BREAK my screen. Not only that - they refuse to fix it... EVEN though they are the ones who damaged it during the repair. Unbelievable. My fellow customers at the Genius Bar were stunned as well - one gentlemen even confronted the store clerk himself saying "that doesn't sound right." The Apple Store Southdale would be a much better customer experience with an entirely new staff. The salesfloor people are on top of you as soon as you enter the store. After politely telling the lady that we were just browsing, she hung around by us listening in to what we were talking about and interjecting now and then with a "cool feature" the computers had. Irritating. The just-out-of-high-school sales people are one thing, but the major downfall of this store is the Genius Bar. After sending my late 2008 model Unibody Macbook in for a repair (apparently the logic board needed repairing only a few months after my purchase), it came back with small scratches on the top body and a completely bent battery cover. I mentioned it but got that standard "wasn't us, bro" type response. Upon taking my machine home, I noticed I has 1GB less RAM than was initially configured on my machine. I took it back and was told that one of my modules was not seated correctly. I was in and out in a few minutes after this second trip, but the fundamental point is that a $1,400 machine is not a toy... Be weary of this Apple Store. read more

Had a scheduled appointment at 330 pm to have my iPhone 6s battery checked out. I was told to wait at a table. No greeting or when someone would come help. Waited 15 min and asked when someone was going to help. Waited on 15 min...30 min AFTER the set appointment when I had the "gall" to ask when I would get some help. Finally, a "genius" rep came. There was no apologies rather the "genius" said her boss was filling in for her while she helped me -- as if I should be grateful after waiting 30 min. It took 10 min to run a diagnosis. Bad battery. No explanation. Just that it costs $80 to replace and another 45 min before it would be fixed. Had to come back to get the phone. When I came back, it took another 15 min after showing up on time (again). In total wasted an hour and half waiting. I was strongly considering buying an apple iwatch 2. But after that go around, I said screw it. This is likely to be my last apple purchase. read more

I love the Apple store. I use the Genius Bar at least once a year to 'clean up my computer". They have saved me so much money just through knowing when the guarantees are up for different things, and working to get those parts updated in time. It is hard to get in, so I need to plan sometimes a week in advance, but so worth it. read more

Terrible service- tons of employees standing around doing nothing. We were told we had about a fifteen minute wait which quickly turned into 30 minutes and we still hadn't been helped. When we asked we were told we were still next in line but they didn't know how long it would be because all "sales associates" were busy. Employees need to be trained to do more than stand around with an iPad. If it's going to be a long wait, take phone numbers and get back to the guest when it's their turn. If restaurants can do it with one host, I'm sure Apple can do it with 15 "hosts." I will never be returning to an Apple Store and I'm now hesitant to continue using Apple products. read more
