This is a great lunch cafe. Menu is well worn from numerous guests and a bit eclectic but leans SW Mexican but includes burgers and Reuben's. The breakfast skillets are often an excellent choice. The chile rellenos are a good choice too, smothered in good green chile. Often busy and there is a self sign waiting list on the coffee/waitress bar opposite the cash register. Highly recommended for breakfast and lunch but I'll try dinner sometime. read more

Went here randomly with my partner and we got a slice of peach pie, country fried steak dinner plate, and a breakfast biscuits and gravy plate and one blueberry pancake on the side. The breakfast has browns were chunks of real potato slices cooked nicely and tasted fresh and wonderful. The egg was undercooked but I ate around the soft part and didn't ask for it to be fixed or anything. The biscuits were so light and fluffy and hot and wonderful. My grandma gave me a love for wonderful biscuits and these were very nice. They're the square kind if that matters. To me all that matters is they're fresh, tender and delicious. The sausage patty was nicely flavored and I enjoyed my breakfast plate a lot. The blueberry pancake was a little overcooked and chewy but still nice and came with real butter and two types of syrup, regular and blueberry. I was happy with it despite its texture. The steak plate was really nice. The fries my partner ordered were from a whole potato and clearly a homemade style of fries that are very hard to find these days. They're my favorite kind ever though and these were stunning after some salt. The country fried steak was also obviously hand battered and tasted great. The peach pie was nice and homemade. It didn't taste of wholly fresh peaches but wasn't canned either, which I don't care for. I loved it and would order it again but next time I'll see if they have chocolate! I saw a club sandwich that looked like the classic version and can't wait to come back and try it. Or their burgers! Come stop by! The food is so wonderful. Service was busy but helpful and fine. The waitress has been there for ages and is so kind to her regulars and welcomed us strangers in too. Lots of booths to sit at and lots of options on the menu. 10/10 highly recommend for a diner. And they're open til 8pm Mon-Saturday and open Sunday but closed earlier. Can't wait to return even though they're not in my neighborhood. Pretty decent comfort food with good taste and prices. The issue is that you'd have to go when it's not crowded in order to be seated right away. Most of the time there's a wait and the staff is not happy at all when you stand by the door or register but where else would you wait if you don't have a waiting area?? Beware! The Blonde lady behind the register will over charge you $15-$20 if you are not vigilant about how much your bill really is. Then she'll pretend that it was an innocent mistake when you tell her that's not right, and then give you the real price. It happened to me more than once. It was the last straw for me when I checked my bank statement and noticed that she had charged me an extra $2. She said it was a credit card machine charge, and that there was a sign posted notifying customers of the credit card company charge. I had been there several times and never saw any such sign. read more

I've driven by this place for sometime now, always amazed at the full parking lot. I know why now. Apple Ridge Cafe serves up some really great meals., with friendly service and hometown smiles. We were seated immediately at one of the booths. I mentioned to the server that we were new to the area and I quickly learned that Apple Ridge Cafe has been open for 40+ years, that the owner comes in early every morning to cut the steaks and prep for the day. She explained the specials and a few of the things they were known for. The Cinamon bun was a bit doughy for my taste, however, the hot icing was delicious - it was clear why that item is a standout. Breakfast of eggs cooked to order, and country sausage hit the spot. Hash browned potatoes were crispy, and a large portion. Sourdough, among other choices, toast. Yumm! Server told me that so far Apple Ridge has not raised prices, even with higher egg costs. This was a perfect breakfast. Great comfort food, exceptional service, comfortable seating -- just an exceptional diner. I'm going back for lunch. read more

I was in the area and wanted something to eat. Found this little cafe and it was packed! It's a very old quaint diner. I notice it does cater to the older crowd. Service was great. Quick and simple. It's a small dining room so it was nice to get my cup filled up as needed without asking. Definitely appreciate the staff. The busser was so nice flipping tables and making sure the seats were clean and wiped down. Food was good. It was a simple cafe breakfast that I can't rave about too much. However, the cinnamon roll was very good. Probably the second best I have had in Colorado. It beats that Johnstown roll that people talk about. Bacon was cooked but not over cooked. We just had our first visit to Apple Ridge Cafe on a Tuesday morning and were impressed by the food, service and the atmosphere. This truly feels like a neighborhood cafe where everyone is friendly and many customers must return frequently. The coffee was very good - not flat diner coffee. Service was quick and coffee refills kept coming even though they were very busy. I had a Matzatlan Burrito and it was loaded with fresh avocado and green chile sauce. We have been eating here for years when the in laws come to town but this time was a disappointment. We noticed the busier cleaning tables off then grabbing clean silverware from the bin and putting it in the tables without washing their hands. I asked for new silverware but the waitress grabed from the same contaminated bin after handling un cleaned menus. My father in law who is now in a wheelchair wasn't able to use the restroom they stick you in this tiny little closet that makes it impossible to move in a wheelchair. Total of care and borderline discrimination. As we checked out the same waitress handling money and cards were pulling cooked food from the windows without washing their hands. Unsurprisingly my wife got sick! The health department should look into this place because there are serious violations and health concerns. We will not be back until they clean up there act and make there restaurant handicap accessible. read more

Local diner serving homemade fare. Our server was a young man who deftly handled the busy crowd. Hubby's chicken fried steak was a smaller portion than he's ever had, so a bit disappointed in that, but the flavor was good and the potatoes were delicious and made up for the chicken fried steak. I had chile rellano breakfast which was spicy but delicious; hubby had to finish mine. Overall enjoyable. Especially appreciated how the staff interacted with the older regulars and how we weren't rushed. My friends decided to go here recently for an early lunch. We all ordered breakfast items, I ordered the 2+2+2 which included 2 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs and 2 pieces of French toast. I found it ho-hum, however, my friend's orders looked delicious. If I return, I'll definitely order something else. I drive by this long time diner (42 years per owner Roy Jones) every morning during the week in Wheat Ridge. I noticed that they had closed for a remodel in mid February. After 5 weeks, they reopened this week with a new look. The outside and inside brick walls switched from tan to grey. I saw new brighter lights throughout. New floors, new booths, and my server said the kitchen was completely gutted and replaced with all new equipment. Their menu however stayed the same with some increased prices. My server, Vicky said the owner Roy Jones paid everyone a few hundred dollars a week to keep his staff during the remodel. Vicky greeted long-time customers who came in and remembered their favorites. I got a large OJ with the Mazatlan Burrito. The breakfast burrito was stuffed with bacon, avocado and scrambled eggs, then covered with cheese and green chili. It was served with a large portion of hot hash browns. I was in the area at 5:30 AM looking for a breakfast place that was already open to get a breakfast burrito and Apple Ridge Cafe was there for me in the early hours. This is a local spot for sure. If you go in the morning you will get to hear all the local guys talking about everything that is going on. They have their regular booths, come in and give the poor waitress a hard time. She can dish it back for sure, but it make for some pretty comical entertainment while you are waiting for breakfast. Apple Ridge Cafe offered a big breakfast burrito. It is stuffed with potatoes and eggs then smothered in a New Mexican style green chile that was excellent. I could just enjoy a bowl of that chili with some eggs and would be very happy. The potatoes are good, but there are a lot of them in the burrito so you walk out full and satisfied When I return I want to try the pregnant burrito. I wish I would have caught this on the menu before I ordered. It is a burrito that is stuffed with a chile relleno inside. Must I say more? There was only one waitress working while I was there, but she had that whole place under control. First, the staff. They were amazing. It was like walking into a diner you'd been going to all your life. They were super sweet, gave their favorites and made it feel very homey. Second, the food. I'm from New Mexico originally so I'm really picky with green chili. I was a little skeptical but they brought a little sampler and that was it. It was so good. Had a decent amount of spice, good flavor, the closest thing to New Mexico green chili that I've ever had outside of NM. We have gone twice now and if we lived here it would be a weekend tradition. Do not let the no frills decorations and the rushing around deter you from Apple Ridge Cafe. This place is putting out phenomenal food! When you first enter, especially if it is busy, it is very confusing on what you are expected to do or where you are expected to stand and wait. There is a coffee bar type stand near the front door. If there is a wait there will be a notebook with a pen near it, that is the waitlist. Put your name down, no one is going to tell you to do this, so I hope you are reading this before you have this awkward first time experience. Once a table opens one of the waitresses will call your name and direct you to an open table, a la "Jess, all the way in the back" and you walk right over and sit. From there she will drop a menu and you are off. It is a very chill environment that some may find rude, personally I just think it is efficient. Now, onto the good stuff. The food here is phenomenal!!! If not for the lack of guidance on how to put myself on the waitlist I would give this place 5 stars on the food alone. We got a cinnamon roll the size of a child's head and it was heavenly!!! They are not siting with the glaze/ frosting and I appreciate that so much, just look at that photo! We followed that with a pregnant burrito, which is a chili relleno in a burrito with beans smothered in green chili and cheese. The green chili is the perfect balance of porky green chili and spice. I have thought about it at least 3 times since we had it. We also got a Mexican skillet (not pictured), which was veggies, hash browns, eggs, and chorizo with green chili and toast on the side. The serving sizes here are BIG this is your classic old school dinner kind of spot that doesn't over charge but delivers on flavor and cost vs size. So we went here to have breakfast on a recommendation of a family member. Its not a typical franchise restaurant, has a more small stand alone diner feel to it. We were seated rather promptly where both booths and tables are available. I'm just going to say it straight upfront. The place was ok and our server was comfortable with herself and attitude and in my opinion was on the border of being professional/unprofessional. And please don't get me wrong I'm all for friendly banter with regulars but when your taking our order and stop to say Hi to a regular and forget what we were ordering and have to repeat it again thats a little much. Our food was decent but I really can't find or I must say I'm still in search of a great chicken fried steak. My wife and Mother in Law both enjoyed their burritos and commented that the chili had a bit more kick to it than usual but in my opinion thats a good thing. So prices are decent, portions are large and service on this particular day was , eh. I'll leave it up to you on trying this establishment as for me I can't really say it left the feeling of " can't wait to go back" inside me but at least we know how this place is and as we all know, you won't know unless you try it. My first visit here and I enjoyed my breakfast. It's a seat yourself anywhere kind of place and I didn't know that so I stood there a second before asking. This place is very much loved by it's regulars as they were all called by name. My waitress was extremely attentive and my breakfast arrived quickly. I ate the simple $6.99 breakfast with eggs, toast and hash browns. For a few bucks more you can add your breakfast meat. They did have a few specials for breakfast which is always nice to see. The place is your typical mom and pop diner experience. The food was good and the hash browns plentiful and excellent! I don't think you'll get a bad experience or meal here.
