It translates to wine ice! Went inside this little shop on a hot day, its very simple, couple of tables with a few chairs inside and outside. There's one nice lady working, speaks very little english, which is perfect for us to practice our spanish! They serve about 8 different ice cream flavors with 4 of them being wine flavored: cabernet, merlot and two white ones which I can't remember. Beau and I ordered each of the merlot and cab ice, which is scooped into little 8 oz styrofoam cups for 35 pesos (at the time of our visit, the exchange ends up being less than $2 each!). The wine flavored ice is exactly what it is, it's like having italian ice or hawaiian ice, or whatever culture you're accustomed to growing up eating flavored ice. The sign says they have snacks, which isn't much. Just a tiny shelf with a few bags of chips and nuts and a vending machine with bottles of sodas.

The setting is beautiful; however, our group experience was extremely disappointing. We waited over two hours for a three-course meal, and several dishes arrived lukewarm and dry. Service throughout the experience was poor, and when we spoke with the manager, no effort was made to address or fix the issues. This was especially frustrating given it was a prepaid group reservation and a birthday celebration. While concerns were not raised further on-site to avoid disrupting the group, the experience accurately reflects what occurred. We hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to meaningful improvements. Edit to add: As the tour operator, we ultimately issued a refund to our clients after the venue declined to do so, in order to uphold the level of service our guests expect.

They do accept Apple Pay and credit cards but it's been a year since I came here, not sure if I did that last time. I already was holding up the line so I just said I would take pesos for change. Next time I am here, I will bring smaller bills as they don't have change. It's really one of a kind and just right off the road. Out of everything we did in villa de Guadalupe, this is the one that sticks out the most. The shop is owned by a mother and a son and they make all their ice cream by hand. Martin was our sommelier and he took incredible care of us, speaking English so that most of our group could follow along. We ordered small bites that were simply indulgent: each bite was hand crafted onsite and tasted phenomenal. We weren't rushed and took our time enjoying the 5-lable tasting. We wandered the grounds and soaked in the incredible scenery along the valley, the rolling hills filled with vineyards and punctuated with lavender to make the whole experience something out of a storybook. Martin took the time to help some in our party who had never before done a tasting, which was really helpful for me (not a novice but nowhere close to a pro). The wines were delicious, made all the more flavorful as learned the notes beforehand so our palates could get the cheat code. Even though there are so many wineries left to discover on The Wine Route in Ensenada, we would definitely return to Vino Xecue because the experience was simply unforgettable.
