After being seated and greeted by bow tie suspender uniformed waiters, I was very interested in the uniqueness of then interior design. Think: industrial rustic but 80s chic? They had exposed brick and pipes but green velvety looking couches with modern gold structured lights... With a blue lit bar! Once seated, we received a roll of hot bread and delectable olive oil. The food was a bit on the salty side, it was phenomenal. The escargot was buttery and chewy and they didn't skimp on the number of snails. The mussels were so savory we asked for more bread to dip the sauce in. As my entree, I got the scallops which was accompanied a crispy side of asparagus and fluffy mashed potatoes. The meals were on the salty side but it wasn't overbearing, but the scallops were cooked to perfection which made up for it. The outside was super crispy but the inside was cooked perfectly which i feel like is an art for scallops. I loved this restaurant and would definitely come here again! It may be my favorite since I moved to CT. But... i couldn't give it 5 stars :( I would give this restaurant a 4.5 star if I could, but there were a few things that I felt like needed room for improvement: 1) the dessert, a strawberry and Nutella crepe (which was considered the most popular and favorite of the waiter) was below mediocre. It tasted like a cold rough wrap rather than a crepe. The top chocolate syrup was too artificial and sweet. It masked the Nutella taste. I also expected it to be warm, but the largely sliced strawberry made everything cold. I also felt like the vanilla ice cream doesn't mean pair well with the already cold strawberry wrap like crepe. 2) water wasn't filled until asked for. 3) no one took away my side bread plate in an already tight table which was annoying. Everyone needs to scallop on over to Appetit Bistro in Norwalk, CT for some incredibly delicious modern French cuisine! The moment I walked into this gorgeous restaurant, I felt like I was being transported to the heart of Paris! The inside of this cozy restaurant is so beautiful, and the food is incredibly dreamy! My mouth is still watering thinking back to the food we tried! First of all, they have octopus on the menu which is automatically a winner in my book! I was also very excited to see the Escargot en Croute on the menu! My boyfriend and I ordered them and I was so tempted to devour each of the heavenly buttery bites myself (but I was nice and split them evenly with him). For entrees, I highly recommend the Poulet "Scarpariello" which is a beautiful vibrant chicken dish served with roasted potatoes, cherry peppers, butter, and garlic. Not only is the presentation impressive but the flavors are out of this world! Some of my other favorites included the scallops, the salmon, and of course, the steak frites! I had a wonderful experience visiting @appetitbistro in Norwalk. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated like you were actually eating out in Paris. Every course was beautifully plated, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. From the escargot, my all time favorite appetizer, to the many fish options and desserts, I enjoyed every single bite. After last night, this restaurant has now become my second favorite in all of Fairfield County (only because Chef Brian Lewis is such a genius)! From the amazing bread to the tasty cocktails, the super delicious mushroom ravioli and moules for appetizers to the duck entree (my skin wasn't rendered enough and a little chewy) with the amazing orange glaze - we left with bellies so full there was no room for dessert. The service - people have to realize we live in a different hospitality industry (post-ish) pandemic but everyone was super attentive and sweet and made the entire experience that much more enjoyable - 5 stars for all their hard work!! This will definitely become a regular spot for us - truly lovely - kudos!! read more

We had dinner here for the first time on a Wednesday night and we were so impressed! My husband and I each did the 4 course tasting menu. The salads, grilled calamari, mussels, Branzino, and steak frites were ALL outstanding. For dessert, I asked the waiter for a recommendation and I am so glad I did- the Nutella and strawberry crepe was so delicious. We were so glad that was happened to go here on a night that they offered the tasting menu so we could try several menu items. The restaurant is also decorated beautifully for Christmas and it felt very festive. The service was attentive and we did not feel rushed between courses. Can't wait to go back! read more

Terrible service, mediocre food for high prices. Service was poor right off the bat, no menu's were given to us for 20+ minutes, we eventually had to ask for them. They messed up our drink order multiple times. We were unimpressed by the food and even more disappointed in the presentation of our meals. Happened across this tonight and thought the food was all around excellent! We had the orange duck, wild mushroom ravioli, and an appetizer of the vegetable tarte. Orange duck was exquisite, and even the wild rice was notably good. My gf liked really enjoyed the wild mushroom ravioli. And then the creme brûlée to end the meal did not disappoint. Some of the food was quite good and some was bland, but the main reason for the 3 star review is the service. Our server was very nice and friendly, but the timing and pace of the meal was all over the place. We ordered fondue, tuna tartare, octopus, and two orders of the sole. The fondue was delicious - the bread wasn't too soft or too firm, the lardons were delicious and complimented the cheese wonderfully, and the potatoes also worked well. However, the fondue, tuna tartare, and octopus were served at the same time. I can't think of anything less appetizing than cheese with raw tuna or grilled octopus, so we had the fondue first, followed by the seafood. Fondue takes time to eat, so our tuna and octopus just sat there - tuna got warm and octopus got cold. The texture of the tuna suffered, but the flavor was pretty bland, so it would've been a miss regardless. The octopus was very tender, but it would've been better if it didn't sit out for so long. Our entrees came out as we were finishing the fondue, with the tartare and octopus still untouched, so now that's getting cold. The entire meal felt incredibly rushed because of this. Sometimes you don't appreciate it when a restaurant times things perfectly, but you really notice it when the timing is off. The sole was the most disappointing part - it tasted like nothing. It lacked salt, the few capers didn't add any brininess, the brown butter sauce tasted like simple clarified butter. The giant portion of spinach was lackluster. It's such a simple dish, so it was surprising how poorly it turned out. I've had the mushroom ravioli and the escargot in the past. Both were okay, but nothing special. This place has potential, but there are too many amazing restaurants in the area to return to this one yet again. read more

Staff was very on point, professional and punctual. Awesome happy hour that you should absolutely hit up before dinner if you can. Cocktails are $7 and beer is $5. We did the pre-fixe menu and it was so fun, especially since we were celebrating a birthday. This place feels like it belongs in NYC, the decor is fancy and classic. The food was tasty and unique. The whole experience felt like a special occasion, which is exactly what we were looking for. The only downside was the dessert, the crepe was cold and tasted like a tortilla instead of a crepe. If there were 3.5 stars I would've gone there, Some winners (hanger steak, mussels, duck) , Branzino was good but small serving of fish, fondue- was tasty but small pieces of bread and potatoes made eating it difficult. Dessert was disappointing- crème brulee- tasted like vanilla pudding and the sugar coating as if it had been refrigerated for some time- crepes were dry and appeared to be cooked much earlier. We were excited to find a sister restaurant to the one we often enjoyed in Portchester but the relationship was in name only. It started with a drink order that included a beer they listed but took 15 minutes to find out they didn't have, and then another 10 minutes to learn a second selection was also unavailable . Our waiter asked to take our order before our drinks were finally served and we had to explain we weren't in a hurry. We ordered a grilled calamari appetizer which was pretty good and a beet salad which was also pretty good, although a waitress we asked for pepper didn't know which end of the pepper mill the pepper came out of. Help is hard to get theses days but a little basic training wouldn't hurt. The moule et frite was disappointing . Very small and not very fresh tasting mussels and generous but not typical French style frites. The Hanger steak was okay although a bit overcooked. The peppered steak and mussels were as good as some of the best I ate in Europe; the loud and fun atmosphere reminded me of Paris and yet the price was quite reasonable considering all we ate and drank.
