It was with him that I went to lunch a few days ago. We arrived just after noon on a Saturday and we're surprised to be the only patrons! We are seated, quickly given menus, water, and allowed adequate time to review the menu. Our server was the son of the proprietor and he was such a delight! You could tell how proud he is of his Lebanese heritage and regaled up with a few stories of Houda, his grandmother and the restaurant's namesake. In addition he helped guide some of our dining choices and we were not disappointed! Houda's serves up tasty, flavourful, and generous portions. We had so much food left over that we had another meal the next day!

The food wasn't too warm when it arrived at our table... Was really yummy though. The zaartar bread was to die for and the lahm (lamb on a stick) was yummmmm! Would have been a 5/5 if the food was hot! Great food tho would come back (hopefully next time the food comes out hot!) The atmosphere was nice too, they had Lebanese music playing in the background and it seemed like an environment that would be child friendly. Nice and quiet too so you can have a conversation without having to yell.

My Mother and I were in the neighbourhood and needed a feed. Yelp of course lead me to this fine family restaurant just off Goodwood road. Easily spotted with colourful signage on the road. Sumac staff are quiet, but are really friendly and welcoming. They are very happy to walk you through the menu if you are unsure of what items are. Some of them I had not heard of before. My Mum and I love to sample everything, and there isn't really much we don't like. So we of course went for the Shashlik Platter. It comes with three different styles of Shashlik, hummus, baba ganoush, home-made pickles, tabouli, salad with crispy pita, spiced rice and garlic sauce. All of that for $24.90! So awesome! We actually thought it would be smaller, so we ordered a plate of falafels as well. And yes, we definitely had stuff to take home. My fave on the platter was the hummus, pickles & chicken shashlik. All very flavoursome and well spiced. Wow, that garlic sauce is really intense, but also amazing on the pita bread. The falafels were fresh, but not as fluffy as I would have liked. They were full of fresh herbs though, so that made up for that! A huge menu to choose from, so be prepared to take a while to decide. You will really love this place!

I don't know why it's called a munooshi - it looks fairly similar to a yiros to me, minus the sticks of anonymous meat twirling around behind the counter. All ingredients are laid out fresh in a sandwhich bar at the front of the shop and you can either get takeaway or sit upstairs in their small dining room. I watched them make the munooshi as the two women cooking consistently yelled at each other from across the room, the guy behind the counter complained that "I leave for one minute and chaos" and I was delighted even before receiving the product. Take 1 large soft pita bread, smother it in tahini, add freshly cooked moist falafel with a crispy exterior, add fresh rocket, tomatoes and cucumber and then smooth the pita bread in half, toast in the grill and wrap up to serve. Simple? Yes. Bloody cheap? At $8 yes. Healthy? Anything with vegetables and tahini has to be - so yes. Quick service? For how busy they were at lunch - yes. Filling? I could have split it between two and then gotten a fresh juice with lunch - yes. So go and get munoosh'd next lunch time.

It's sort of like a folded over yiros, but more delicious. Munooshi is the perfect place to go, when you are after a quick lunch in the city. Many of the workers along rundle street run down there for a quick bite on their lunch break. Munooshi has many vegetarian as well as meat lover options and is extremely healthy. A lot of my health freak/exercise freak friends frequent the joint regularly. However, my favourite thing about Munooshi is that it is extremely cheap! You can purchase a meal and a drink for little over $10, so it definitely won't break the bank. The café has very limited seating area, so if you plan to go during peak hour (12-1pm) I'd suggest getting take-away. Rymill Park is situated directly across the road, so if it's a nice day, take your munooshi and go and enjoy it in the park!
