Delicious grilled meats - The Kafta was succulent and fresh, the charcoal chicken was smoky but not dry at all. The Toum is perfect.

Interesting, pretty, inviting and you can see that actual thought was given rather than just plopping it on the plate. I was in a group of 7. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. Staff took the time to chat and smile, share their story of where they were from over taking your order or cracking your pepper! Everyone's food looked delicious. I order the chicken Mediterranean. The saltiness of the mash overpowered the delicate flavours of the apricot and stuffing, but it was still a good meal. Chicken was tender and I had the happy feeling at the end. All that counts right? Lol Save room for desserts and coffee. They have a nice selection. The tiramisu is a good size to share with a friend. Go on....get your romance on. Hope you find time to drop in.

Treat yourselves to a delight, The Mediterranean Delight!

The guy who runs this place is more like your trusty bartender but in place of cocktails there are custom yiros' with names like the "Pablo", the "Dave" and many more. I assume these are named after friends or regular customers. The only thing missing from the menu was chips, but maybe I'm a bit too much of a commoner in my tastes and expectations. Great yiros and worth a visit.

First thing to love about East End Yiros is the restaurant. It's not big downstairs, but it is double story. Upstairs is really cosy with a few tables and chairs set up for small groups. Get a table near the window and enjoy the view of Grenfell Street. If you want some fresh air, there are tables outside on the street as well. So never fear. If you want a good quality yiros, you have picked the right place. The Yiros bread is really fluffy unlike others I have tried. Really tasty bread coupled with well seasoned meat (lamb, chicken, pork shaslic, pork sausage). One thing I did notice is that there was no rotisserie? So, I guess the meat is prepared in a different way. The yiros was a good size with a great helping of veggies & garlic sauce. Paired with a beer or wine for $18 is a bargain!

Smile-worthy stuff. It sets the scene for this modest eatery in the very un-Greek suburb of Hawthorn, in the very un-restaurant-like location of being attached to a Caltex. "Oils ain't oils" as they say, so if you want the good oil on this joint look toward it's picture board - a wall of photos capturing characters who have wined and dined and wined here before. It gives further insight into the humble and fun nature of the place. Smiling Chef Sam Antoniou is found in the kitchen with parents Toula and Peter. They all wield cheeky senses of humour, upping the enjoyment ante of your visit. Ultimately you've come for their food. The best way to tackle it in these family-type digs is to hoard some friends around an Astros banquet. The "Apollo" includes chicken yiros and calamari; adventure into the "Poseidon" and tiropites (cheese triangles), lamb yiros and whitebait await; or brace yourself for the "Zeus" and be further fortified with Greek sausages and prawns. There's a takeaway menu, outdoor tables and car parks at that Caltex. Plonk wise it's licensed but the corkage too is a little cheeky so perhaps play "when in Rome" or Greece as it were with the wine list and try some vino tipples from the homeland.

The setting is suburban to the max and. as Roz said it's very un-glamorously attached to a servo. In true Australian-Greek style, all the mains are served with chips and Pita which are delicious, but they very obligingly leave either, or both off for me if I ask . I suffer from the eat-everything-on-your-plate disease so I sometimes do this to save myself from mostrous serves. This means I'm left to tackle the chicken breast as big as my head and generous salad, which to be honest is probably more than I can handle in itself! They do a bunch of my Greek faves... whitebait, saganaki, meatballs, kalamari and a bunch of others as entrees or mezze. The mains boast every type of souvlaki or yiros, along with moussaka, mix grill, selection of fish, prawns, or even quail.

I've tried them all and really can't choose the best, it would be like favouring one child! The Thai Burger is always amazing, but just remember no matter which one you chose it will absolutely mouth-watering. The sizes are also ridiculously large. You get the option of having a whole or a half-burger. A half-burger is definitely enough to fill one very hungry person! The prizes are also very cheap with a half-burger setting you back less than $10. Dressed with a convoluted mix of mosaic picture frames, post cards of luxurious 80s holiday destinations (like Hawaii) and a mismatch of vinyl chairs and lino tables somehow blends together to make for a quirky, washed (not unwashed) hippie (not hipster) vibe. And the burger masterpieces created from the brain of this place (the kitchen) come with names like "Ab Fab" or "The Mexican" - all time classic hits that have been topping the foodie charts for 25 years in Adelaide. The menu is written on the most inconvenient spot in the cafe, but who needs to read about ingredients when you can just fall in love with the name and the vibe of a song - sorry - burger, right? Nothing is made with meat and every burger has some version of lentil or chickpea involvement. As Tom W mentioned, only go with half unless you have been starving yourself for a week and don't feel shy to ask for extra avo or hummus included. Although no Banana Pancakes are made in store and they ONLY except CASH in hand, you will fall in love with the aura and energy of this cafe, its staff and the hearty burger party going on inside that will make anyone's heart sing with joy.
