The pickled duck has some of the yummiest food in the north! The burgers and sweet potato fries are a must! The meals are well sized and offer a variety of options for a vast range of tastes. Dessert options are decadent and great for a girls night out. The only downside is no bookings and long lines to order food/drink, but once you take the first bite of your meal- it's worth it.

Review Highlights - The Pickled Duck

I had the Swiss beef burger (portobello mushroom, Gorgonzola sauce, rocket, caramelised onions and beef) - absolutely delicious!!

42nd Street is located across from the Post Office inside Tea Tree Plaza Shopping Centre. I…read moreknow... mall cafe. But if you can stand eating inside a place, which is inside another place (double indoors) this here cafe is a good choice. It's a nostalgic diner type... they put an orange slice on your side salad for goodness sake! There's a younger staff, and you can't help thinking 'this would be a fun place to work as a teenager.' They're dressed tidily in collared white shirts and do a fine job. Which is unexpected... under most circumstances teenagers + Westfield TTP go together like BP and water (from the perspective of a person outside of that age bracket). Have you been late night shopping at the Plaza..? The menu is caulk full of crowd pleasers: sandwiches, burgers, all day breakfasts, etc. There's a whole section dedicated to 'Pavers' (open face melted cheese sandwiches). I ordered a Gourmet Paver. It was fantastic. All veg, with sun-dried tomatoes, pumpkin, avocado... and toasted beautifully. 42nd street came recommended to me by some Myer staff who've been going for yonks. They said it's recently changed ownership. Living up to its expectations (charming service and wholesome food) it doesn't seem like much else has changed. Solid meal option if you're in the area.

My mum is pretty keen on this place and has been going there for years for a breakfast/lunch or…read morejust a coffee when she is in TTP. I had to buy some new work pants and asked if she would like to come to Westfield with me. She said that we could get dinner at 42nd street. I thought it was in the way to TTP but to my surprise it was a mall cafe. There's nothing wrong with his place, but there's also nothing great about it either. The decor is fairly hospital cafeteria or roadhouse looking and I couldn't find anything interesting on the menu. No liquor license either (maybe because it's in a mall?). I had a chicken parmigiana and the chicken was well cooked, but the sauce reminded me of parmies I have made when there's almost nothing left in the house... Sweat off some onions, add can of chopped tomatoes and whack it on the schnitzel with some cheddar cheese. At least when I make it at home I try to spice it up a bit with some garlic, oregano, basil or even some chili in the sauce. Also, the parmigiana was quite small and the chips that came with it were nothing special at all. Below pub standard. The salad on the side was your typical pub salad. The kind most people skip as it's an afterthought. Look, this place is probably good for their all day brekkie and wraps for lunch, and I understand that when you have 60+ items on your menu it must be a bit difficult, so I'm giving them 3 stars. I'm wondering if maybe I'm becoming a bit of a food snob, or maybe I'm just used to visiting businesses that have to try harder because they are competing with other great businesses nearby. Do cafes like this even need to exist? Are they relevant in the postmodern gourmet low food-mile burger, and organic toasted sourdough sandwich world of 2015 and beyond? I don't think so; but in saying that, I might be back for a wrap or a coffee at some point in the future when I venture up to TTP for my 3 yearly trip there.
