Fast forward almost 20 years later (OMG!) and I'm doing the exact same thing. Okay, it's not via the PizzaNet website (I use EatNow), I'm not running Windows 3.1 and my iPad is considerably sleeker than Sandra's 15" CRT monitor, chunky CPU and dial up modem but the end result - pizza - is the same. My local purveyor is the Redwood Park Pizzeria. I've ordered online for pick-up four or five times, cash on arrival and there has never been an issue. The pizzas are well priced, with plenty of quality toppings. We usually go the Redwood Special and request no mushrooms or anchovies in the comments box. Not once has our pizza been befouled by dirty shrooms or stinky fish. However, the pastas, which we have only ordered once, have a lot of melted cheese throughout which was not popular with our guests and made for a lot of inedible leftovers. If I order pastas again, I will request they be cheeseless. Anyway, got to get off the Internet, Mum wants to use the phone and I have to change my ICQ status.

Walk out through the kitchen to toilet at the back of the shop and you might trip on a bag of pizza flour on way but don't worry, the lino floors will protect your fall. Enough about the interior, that doesn't really matter. In traditional fashion, the star of the show is the hand made blackened pizza oven sitting in the middle of the shop serving up damn good WOG Pizza. We thought we'd be modest an just order one 12 inch Frutti di Mare (seafood) and a bottle of wine to share (funnily enough sipped out of those promo wine cups that you collect from various wine events and functions over the years). But after devouring this crispy based, sweet tomato sauce covered, melt in your mouth seafood pizza we decided we couldn't stop at one. The Truff Truff was next - a creamy, cheesy base of truffle oil, cheese, dried mediterranean herbs and more cheese. Forget manners, there's no forks or plates here and the owner really couldn't care less if you came in or not. He does what he loves and I think even if there were no customers in store he would be happy. The girls on the floor are friendly but really, who needs to make small talk when all you want to do is finish off 2 large pizzas in 30 minutes and then roll home?

This wonderful simple and charming little gem serves up fantastic wood oven pizzas and isn't trying to do anything else. Not salty or oily, with a very light airy wood oven crust topped with buffalo Di mozarella, prosciutto or whatever you like from the menu. And randomly in the back streets of Campbelltown (which isn't so bad not being on a main road as thru have a cool outdoor area out the front).

Today, as we found ourselves in the area we thought, why not? It was a strange time to be eating - 3.30pm. We had both missed lunch and didn't want to wait three hours or so for dinner but The Pickled Duck have all day dining so that was helpful! The first thing we noticed as we walked in was how large and clean the restaurant was. High ceilings and heavy wood featured in the decor giving us a relaxed, family style restaurant feeling. Maybe something Mike Brady from the Brady Bunch would have designed. It made us feel comfortable! We were given menus and told to come up to the bar when we were ready to order. The menu itself was simple and easy to understand. They mostly have burgers, pizza's and a few salads as well. They also had desserts on the menu, including dessert pizzas! From what I had heard, burgers were the specialty so I was eager to try one. Hubby decided to go for some sliders so that he could get a good idea of what a few different burgers would taste like. I think the slider option is a great one for exactly that reason and on this menu you were able to order as many as you want, starting from just one which is great if you have someone with a small appetite in your party. The restaurant is next to a bottle shop and they have a joining door which could prove to be handy. They encourage their diners to take advantage of the wine cellar where they showcase a fine collection of Australian and world renowned wines. They also have a unique selection of craft beers from some of the finest South Australian microbreweries. I did think there were lots of great options on the wine menu and ordered one of my favourites. I did feel a little disappointed when the meals came out. In retrospect, they were very filling and I'm sure the size would be big enough for the average diner but my first impression was that it was a little small. I ordered the Swiss Beef Burger. Beef, sautéed swiss mushrooms, caramelised onions, rocket, gorgonzola cheese sauce. It was such a tasty little package!! The meat was just gorgeously seasoned and the caramelised onions.. mmmm is there a more perfect combination? They weren't stingy on the muchrooms either and together, it was really a delight to eat. Hubby was both amused and horrified as he watched me trying to eat this with sauces dripping down my fingers and smeared on my face. But that's got to tell you that what you're eating is good right?? He made a really good choice ordering the four sliders. BEEF SLIDER- smoky BBQ onion jam PORK SLIDER- asian slaw, baja sauce DUCK SLIDER- pickled green onion, carrot slaw CHICKEN SLIDER -smashed avocado, rocket He started off with the pork slider. He said he found it a little dry but it was still very good and tasty. The next one he tried was the beef slider and that was such a brilliant explosion of taste in his mouth that he decided to keep that one till last. He loved the bbq sauce - He said it reminded him of bbq ribs. His third slider was the chicken slider. He said that was delicious also and was smothered in mayonnaise. Last of all was the duck slider. We had forgotten that was one of the options and as we don't often eat duck, were interested in how it would taste. Hubby said it was nice but not his favourite. I'm not into pickled onions in my burgers so I don't think I would have liked this one myself. We also ordered some wedges and I'm just mentioning them as surprisingly, we even had a little sour cream and chili left over after the wedges were gone... That never happens!! I liked that the server came to check on us to make sure everything was as we'd ordered. I had told him that I'd heard good things about this place and he said must have been because of his great service which I thought was a good response! A serve of potato chips was delivered- however the person had ordered sweet potato chips- so the waitress took the meal back and returned shortly with the sweet potato chips instead - and then asked for $2 as the sweet potato chips are dearer than ordinary chips- are you serious!!! Unless this establishment lifts its service and quality of food, then they will definitely lose out to all the new restaurants at TTP

Paying less than $10 for a pasta meal is getting to be more and more of a rarity, so it's refreshing to see such reasonable prices. As for the pasta itself, it's pretty good actually. Thanks for asking... They also have less than 10 pizza varieties on the menu which I found to be a bit odd. Most pizza places offer the staples with a few of their own special house designed varieties. yes they have the Severino's special which is actually pretty decent, but the rest of it can be bought at any other pizza place. Thankfully the prices here aren't too bad either. A bit more than the chains, but why would you buy that crap when for a few more dollars you can support a local business and get some quality pie?

He asked me what my major in University was (which was Psychology), and he jokingly replied, "So you've come to analyse me!" He made me smile with that one. And I noticed he jokes around with every customer and co-worker! But seriously, do they know how to make pizzas properly! (Awww...man this dough and meat is fresh and soft, not like the try-hard local stores who end up making it hard to eat!) If you're looking for a delicious and authentic Italian-made pizza with fresh dough and toppings that should be expected in Italian pizza, than you can take Salvatore's Slice of Italy's name, which is a genuine original Italian name, and turn it into "The Freshest and Softest Pizza in Adelaide" - especially after you wash a slice or two down with a couple of cans of soft drinks! The chef was so friendly, when I asked what the gorgeous photos on his wall came from, he told me stories of his trips overseas back home to the beautiful pristine islands of Italy, and all his cousins. He said his uncles from Italy were the ones who taught him how to make pizzas for life. I love immigrants who never forget where they came from, or apply what they learnt in their younger years to run a successful business or job for the rest of their life. No cash payment on pick-up option but card and PayPal available. The 15 minute wait time passed quickly and I walked in to collect my pizza just as it was being sliced. A friendly interaction followed and I was soon back home and sharing slices of the tasty "PB" with the family. The deals on their brochure only offer Pepsi but I did catch a glimpse of 1.25L Cokes in their drinks fridge so you may be able to negotiate. Let's work together to end the Cola Wars.
