Shishtawook Pizza
Ellie E.

The meals were served promptly and were extremely tasty. The service and staff are very friendly and nice. All of the prices were reasonable for what you were getting. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a toilet in the facility and that I had to go off and find one myself. The overall layout of the place was very nice and tied in with the middle-eastern theme. Very nice food. Very good service. Very good experience.

The Shaslik Platter
Ian L.

We had the Shaslik Platter, chicken, lamb, kafta shasliks, homous, babaganoush pickle plate, rice, fattoush salad and Lebanese bread. Awesome value for money at $24.90 and portions are great! All the skewers were great and juicy, left over juices on the paper were scooped into the rice. Dips were also more than enough.

Two great platters! Unfortunately photo foregrounds the fries, which were exceptional. The real deliciousness is at the back!

Lunch at Sumac was a great experience. Located on Goodwood Road, parking behind. We had a falafel platter, and a kibbeh platter. Plenty of flavour, plenty of fresh, and plenty of food. Fresh salads (great lemon dressings), well made and tasty dips, pickles, and crisp, non-oily chips, which we were assured were appropriate. Left feeling well and healthily fed, and planning our next and subsequent visits.

Lebanese style bread, yogurt, tomato, cucumber and olives.

My husband grew up in Detroit, Michigan, USA which has The largest Middle Eastern population,…read morespecifically Lebanese, outside of the Middle East. It was with him that I went to lunch a few days ago. We arrived just after noon on a Saturday and we're surprised to be the only patrons! We are seated, quickly given menus, water, and allowed adequate time to review the menu. Our server was the son of the proprietor and he was such a delight! You could tell how proud he is of his Lebanese heritage and regaled up with a few stories of Houda, his grandmother and the restaurant's namesake. In addition he helped guide some of our dining choices and we were not disappointed! Houda's serves up tasty, flavourful, and generous portions. We had so much food left over that we had another meal the next day!

The food wasn't too warm when it arrived at our table... Was really yummy though. The zaartar bread was to die for and the lahm (lamb on a stick) was yummmmm! Would have been a 5/5 if the food was hot! Great food tho would come back (hopefully next time the food comes out hot!) The atmosphere was nice too, they had Lebanese music playing in the background and it seemed like an environment that would be child friendly. Nice and quiet too so you can have a conversation without having to yell.

The portions are small for the prices the upside is they open late while most places in the area are closed which is a bonus if your looking for something local. The menu is numbered in the type of dishes you require I selected number 1 on the menu four pieces of chicken skewers with nan bread and very little salad. But, I guess the outside of the store never really tickled my fancy. It is definitely not flash looking inside or out. There are no fancy tables, crockery or cultery. This is just good food served straight up! Lawash Bakery is serving up some really decent Lebanese food. If you love grilled meats, bread and flavour, well you have come to the right place. There are a few vego items to choose from, but I think this is more of a meat eating destination. There are a lot of options for you to choose from. Many different styles of grill, bread and accompaniments. You can order large platters for the table to share as well. I went for the mixed grill, that way I get to try a couple of different styles. It was great! Full of flavour, spices, slightly salty and smoky. Everything you want in a kebab. It was served on some really fresh pita and a side of lettuce, tomato and onion. That way you can wrap it up if you like. There was a whole lot of garlic in that meat and sauce too. So, maybe bring some mints to freshen up afterwards. I really liked the service and value here. I might have liked a few choices of sauces to go with my meat. But, it was cooked well and tasted brilliant. This is the type of place you want to go to fill up before a night on the town. Note, if you need to go to the loo, the bathroom around the back of the shop. But, be warned, it is really ewwww...

Nothing on the menu was as it used to be. The standard classic dishes were a major disappointment, they were not nearly as delicious or tasty as they were. We were so excited for our evening but sadly we were really disappointed and it kind really ruined my first night reunion.

OMG!! This place is AMAZING!!…read more I will admit, when friends of mine suggested we go to an Afgani Restaurant for dinner, I was a little apprehensive as to whether there would be anythign on the menu that i would actually eat. There were 7 people in our group, and there were 8 mains on the menu, so we pretty much ordered one of everything. And all of it was DELICIOUS! My personal favorites were the rose syrup drink that I had that tasted like liquid turkish delight, the eggplant dish (eggplants in an aromatic tomato sauce) and the lamb (melt in your mouth aromatically spiced lamb) Seriously, if you are looking for somewhere new to try, give this place a go. They have a BYO licence (so you can bring your own wine) and the service was EXCELLENT!! We had drinks, and LOTS of food, and some corkage and we shared a dessert and all up when we split the bill it worked out to $37 each. Very reasonable for the amount of food that we had and the quality of the food and the service. This place is a MUST try!!

Firstly, rest assured my loyal Yelpers, Barbra Streisand is not in da house!…read moreI have always avoided going in to Hello Dolly for precisely that reason, but much to my surprise I did not find Babs behind the counter. My change of heart came around as a result of a friend of mine telling me how freaking awesome a 'wrap' of his was then refusing to give me a taste (prick). So I had to check it out, and they are pretty darn good! It's funny, usually I am not too big a fan of hummus, but it worked really well. I turned down the tabouli, but I am sure it is all good if you are into it. The little sweets looked really good, but I didn't give them a burl this time. I will be sure to next week though! Also they cater, so could be a go if you are looking for something a little different for you next Brithday or Beerday (everyday is a possible Beerday!).
