A trip to Rockport wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Country Store. Think old fashioned…read morecandy shop meets quirky retro insanity. With a real, functioning Nickelodeon (that costs more than a nickel), retro-inspired lunch tins, magnets, signs and books, incense, gag gifts, candles, cookie cutters, mugs, toys, and other eclectic goodies, this store is packed to the brim with unique and entertaining merchandise. And don't forget the penny candy (that costs more than a penny....a lot more). The entire left-hand wall is lined top to bottom with plastic bins of self-serve bulk candy. Nostalgic for Squirrel Nut Zippers? Wondering what ever happened to Teaberry Gum? Well wonder no more. From licorice to Nerds, bubble tape and flavored tootsie rolls, even those weird marshmallowy coconut watermelon slices, it's all here. Not to mention the dozens of flavors of Jelly Belly Jellybeans. Just grab a bag, fill it up, bring it to the counter for weighing and enjoy all of your favorite sweets. Or maybe a huge dill pickle or some fresh popcorn (maybe not all at once...) The Country Store has knick knacks from head to toe, and with so many different candies and trinkets to look at, it's hard to leave empty handed.

This day, I found myself curious of the shops around & entered Brookline Booksmith w/ an optimistic mind! Okay, so I was totally not expecting this store to be so big. It has two sides, one with little Knick knacks, stationery items, + gifts & the other side was mostly books! They had a great selection of books, basically most things you could find at your local Barnes & Noble, just with a better gift selection hahaha. The gift side reminded me of the paper store almost BUT BETTER. Anyways, yeah so I will be back soon & I'd say it's worth the visit if you haven't explored this gem yet ;) Great place for book lovers, gift givers, & even just if you like finding cute things that you typically wouldn't see at other stores around.

They've got all the vibes and have a lot of hidden gems to be found. Some things can be a bit pricey especially on the gift side, but I would say otherwise on average for the type of items. I love that they always have bargain books and the whole used book section downstairs (that's where you can definitely find deals)! Worth exploring if you're checking out the area or a local who loves books and/or cute things!

The class was $60 and each person made two large candles. Normal candles from the shop are $32 each so this is a great deal to get a custom scented candle. The candles were ready for pickup next day and I've enjoyed burning them at home. They also have a great collection of premade candles with even more scents. We had their last time slot of the day and it was a full class. Before the class started we were able to explore the shop a bit and there were so many candles and accessories. It's so cute inside! Our instructor Mossi was amazing and very knowledgeable about the different types of scents and combinations. It was so much fun figuring out which scents I resonated the most with. We also got to smell everyone's scent combinations which was cool knowing that scents smell different to every person. After the class, we got a small discount on any additional items we wanted to purchase that day. I got this really cool dirty martini candle and a wick dipper. Heads up that candle pick up is the next day so the wax can settle. They will hold your candles for two weeks but after that they will burn them in the store. During the workshop, the store ran out of one of the scents my friend wanted to use. We made it work and found a substitute but the during pickup we found a note, a slip for another workshop and a small candle to make up for the inconvenience. That was so nice of them! As for my candle, I don't think I can recreate it anywhere else. It's only been two weeks and I've already burned through most of one of them because it smells so good. The scents actually last and linger in any space you put them in. I 100% recommend this place whether you want to try a workshop, give this experience as a gift or just stop by to smell the candles. Heads up it's BYOB. You don't have to drink but you're able to bring something if you want.
