This is the wife and my favorite restaurant. Food is always fantastic, service is exactly the same!! If you are going make sure you order the Saganaki (flaming cheese) appetizer. We will never will step foot in Apollon again. Craig Persha, co-owner, was the host. We arrived at 6:40 with no reservation, expecting a wait. We were told 45 minutes tops and he emphasized it would most likely be shorter but wanted to estimate longer just in case. Understandable. Since there is NOWHERE to wait we were sent to a bar across the street, with him promising a phone call when our table was ready. After 45 minutes we had to call Apollon and was told an additional 15 minutes. 30 minutes later we receive a phone call "I should have a table ready, come on over" We walked in 1hour and 20 minutes after our initial visit. No greeting. No apology for the wait. And no table ready for us. He proceeds to tell us he is running a credit card and we have to wait until that table leaves for us to be seated. The table opened, the guests left and Craig walked by us, called a group of men that were waiting by the door and proceeds to seat them before us right in front of our face. Needless to say we walked out of the restaurant after an hour and a half of waiting for a table that was supposed to take "under 45" minutes. We received no phone call from Craig after we left although he had our phone number. Little did he know how his horrendous customer service impacted our night. This was our first night out since experiencing a heart wrenching loss in our family. It took so much strength to get ready and venture out of the house and this is how we got treated. We couldn't get into Carmella's, so we tried Appollon. We are sure glad we did. Our waitress explained the menu well and took great care of us. The food was delicious. Each entree comes with a soup and salad course. For apps we had the meatballs and octopus, and for the main course we had the lamb tenderloin and stuffed grouper. All were excellent. Wonderful place !!! They get it right. Server are knowledgeable and attentive. The food has subtleness; lemon soup, flaming cheese, kitchen-created dressings, reduction sauces --- I could go on and on. Vegetables are more al dente than I prefer, but the colors are magnificent. We try to dine here a few times a year. Last summer we sat at a table next to Ty Pennington. Dine early and enjoy. read more

4 stars for having great food and a cuisine that is different from the other options available in Appleton. The wine list is also solid and very reasonably priced. The service could be better. The menu also tends to get a little repetitive if you go here often, like I have recently. Hence 4 stars and not 5. But this is probably the best dinner option in Appleton. read more

What a Mediterranean Gem. Love this restaurant and will come back. My meal consisted of the homemade bread, Greek salad, soup, and the Filet Mignon Au Brie. Excellent. We went to Apollon on a recommendation from a friend for dinner prior to a production at the PAC in Appleton. The server asked if we were going to the show and the courses were served promptly and without rushing. The server was knowledgeable and courteous, attentive without hovering or asking useless questions. The restaurant was very busy but you never had that hectic feeling. The food was presented beautifully, from the soup, to the salad, to the main course. The soup was very different, and delicious. The seafood done just right, and the vegetables were beautiful. We would recommend in an instant and will definitely be back. read more

The lemon drop soup they offer as an appetizer is one of the best things to eat in area. The main courses I have had have all been great, especially the lamb shank. After growing up eating Greek food we were pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the dishes served at Apollon. It has a beautiful, soothing atmosphere and very good service. We were very pleased with our meal and if you are looking for a special night out, this would be a great choice for you. Looking forward to going back there soon. read more

My husband and I went to dinner here on Mother's Day. My husband is a picky eater, but I really wanted to try out this place so he went with me. Unfortunately we didn't have the best experience. He tried to order 2 appetizers that totaled $16 and when asked if was okay to order those, was told "we don't do that here" doubled up with "and it's Mother's Day". Just came off as very unprofessional. I haven't been to another establishment in Appleton with rules on ordering. The reaction from the waiter was basically that my husband was being cheap, which just left a bad reflection on the restaurant for us. Will choose another locale next time with more accommodating service. read more

After reading all the good reviews and recommendations from friends, my wife and I tried this restaurant on 3/8. We went early and were the first ones seated in the restaurant. Had a specialty appetizer that was so-so. The hummus, bread, soup and salad were fine. My wife really liked the soup. We both ordered the Filet Flambe ($28/each) and they were just plain horrible. The steaks were heavily burnt on the outside and overcooked (we ordered them medium). They were definitely cooked well done. We ate less than half of them. They also cooked us a side order of the Lamb tenderloin saffron to try. We did not care for it and really only ate one bite each. Now this could be just us not liking lamb, but this menu item came at the recommendation of the waitress as the best one to try. Had Baklava and Baileys cheesecake for desert- these were fine. All said for a $120 meal and burnt steaks, this was very disappointing. One other strange thing, we saw our waitress come out with our dinner plates and about 1/2 way to us she turned around and went back into the kitchen. She then came out about 5 minutes later- not sure what that was all about. read more

I have never had such an uncomfortable dining experience! I was in Appleton for business and was meeting a guy out of the area for a first date. Neither of us knew the city and we choose Apollon based solely on a quick one over of the ethnic restaurants reviewed on yelp. When we arrived, the waiter, a big beefy guy, was overly eager to take our order. We were clearly on a date and he kept coming back to interrupt. Then, after a quick review of the menu we decided to start with a few apps (basically to get him to leave us alone long enough so that one of us could finish a full sentence). He rudely pointed out to my date that you cannot just order apps, so we also ordered an entree to split (we'd both had big lunches and were meeting for an early dinner--- we just figured we'd order drinks and share several apps---something that is very common place in my home town of Madison). The waiter's attitude was terrible and the service he provided should embarrass the management! He brought us a salad and soup that came with the meal and plopped both down. We started eating, but slowly as were savoring the food enjoying each others company. Shortly there after he came back (the salad was about 1/2 finished and we had only just each had a spoon full of the soup to sample). Without asking if we were through, he quickly removed both. I was just shocked at such poor service. Then we were served our gyro plate (which was amazing, so much food that we both ate until we were full and then had leftovers). As we were eating, we realized that he had never placed the order for apps. I eat out regularly and consider myself a foodie. I have truly never felt so unwelcome at any establishment in my life. read more
